FSS: Life is Better

Good morning I have a card that mimics my feelings exactly about this time of the year.  To create my sunshine I stamped the sun image from Weather Through then without re-inking, I stamped it again by rotating the stamp slightly to create a glow.  I then stamped the flip flops from Beachy Keen and coloured them with Copic markers.  Many of the Fresh Squeezed Stamps are perfect for colouring.

I love my Sanuk yoga mat flip flops, the are so comfortable!
Do you love your flip flops too? do you have a favourite kind?

CFC105 and Simon Says Transport

Happy Friday!
It is beautiful weather here today and I hope it is wherever you are.

I jumped right on to this week's CAS-ual Fridays challenge so that I could ink up my new Fresh Squeezed Stamps Subway Series: Summer stamps.  I used the cutest Taylored Expressions Luggage Tag that was sent to me by my friend Kim at Cupcakes, Cards and Kim.  Now that I am posting this I think I would love to hop on a plane to some dreamy sunny place!

I am also submitting this one to the Simon Says Transport challenge.  Have a wonderful Father's Day weekend!

CCC #48

A second post for today and for this week's CASology Cue Card.
This week the Cue Word is:

For me the first thing I thought of was sun and summer and then of course--flip flops. So the star of my yellow card is the yellow sun with my beset supporting actress-- pretty floral flip flops.

Head on over to CASology today to learn what the 'cue card' means to you, how you can play along and see the all the cards created by the Design Team to inspire you.

Muse #20

Sharing a card for this week's Muse challenge.  Hard to believe that it is challenge #20!
This week's Muse is Laurie Willison.  Whenever I see one of Laurie's card I wish that I had created one just like it or this.

The toughest thing for me to overcome when she is the Muse is to NOT make my card exactly the way that she did.  To stop myself from downright copying her, but I could never make a bow as perfect as she does. LOL  So how did I make it my own? Well it wasn't easy.  I loved the design, the colours, the scoring and the bow.  Desperately wanting the hot weather to arrive I decided that I wanted to create my card with the same colours but more vibrant and summery.  So I created a one layer card using Hawaiian Shores for my base, I stuck to colours only, no white.  I made a trio of sunshine rather than medallions and I used grosgrain instead of saddle stitch ribbon.

Cardstock:  Hawaiian Shore, Harvest Gold (Papertrey Ink)
Stamps: Flippin' Out (Papertrey Ink)
Ink: True Black (Papertrey Ink)
Dies: sunshine (Lil' Inkers)
other: Orange Zest grosgrain Ribbon, Scoring tool

Papertrey Ink Blog Hop - April

Time for this month's Papertrey Ink Blog Hop!

This month the theme is 'tilted', create a project with something tilted.
Although it may seem a little crooked to you if it actually a lot of fun.

After what has seemed like the eternal winter I personally cannot wait to get back into my flip flops again.  So for my card what I decided to tilt were flip flops. I am also submitting this card to the Simon Says Anything Goes challenge.

Thanks for popping in and enjoy the rest of the hop!

All supplies are from Papertrey Ink unless otherwise noted.

Cardstock:  White, Simply Chartreuse
Stamps: Flippin' Out
Ink:  Orange Zest, Summer Sunrise, Hibiscus Burst, Simply Chartreuse (PTI) Memento Tuxedo Black (Tsukineko)

CFC67 & MIM #80

I am not quite ready to say goodbye to summer.  I love the fall with the changing leaves, cooler temperatures and warm sweaters but when it comes to footwear? I love my flip flops.  They are the last thing that I give up when the cooler temperatures come.  This weeks CASual Fridays Challenge is to create a clean and simple project that features banners or flags.  This week at Papertrey the Make it Monday technique was to use die cuts to create your own custom banners.  So why not combine these two challenges.

All Supplies are from Papertrey Ink unless otherwise noted:

Cardstock: White, Lemon Tart
Stamps: Flippin Out
Ink:  Hibiscus Pink, New Leaf, Orange Zest, True Black
Dies: Flippin Out, Banner Borders
Impression Plate: Hello Sunshine
other: foam dots, twine (The Twinery)

CFC66 - Splish Splash

This weeks CASual Friday's challenge was to create a project featuring something you might see in or at the ocean.  I think I restarted my sketch for this week about 100 times, there are so many things that fit this time of the year.  I finally decided to go with a whale, although when we head to the beach tomorrow I certainly hope if we do see one he or she is as friendly as this one.

I usually do not have a lot of luck with tomatoes in my garden, but I think that they have been loving the heat this summer.  I have picked a plate just as full as this one every week for the past three weeks just from two plants, each in their own pot on my deck!  One red and one orange.

Sam always seems to show up when the camera is out to pose for a shot for mommy.  Maybe he was just hoping for a tomato.

All Supplies are from Papertrey Ink unless otherwise noted:

Cardstock: White, Summer Sunrise, Spring Rain, Blueberry Sky, Kraft
Dies: Whale (Echo Park for Silhouette Studio), Banner Border
other: foam dots, googly eye, font Baby Boston

colourQ Challenge #145

This weeks colourQ inspiration photo is perfect timing for mid summer.  I have been going outside to take photos of most of my cards these days because we are having one sunny, hot day after another.  For my card I started with a white card base.  I cut a 4 1/4" x 3" focal piece in white.  I die cut the tree trunk in Dark chocolate then used the Woodgrain Impresson Plate to add texture.  I put the tree together and adhered it to the panel with the grass at the bottom.  I stamped the sentiment in Dark Chocolate and then matted the panel with another white piece measuring 4 1.5" x 3 1/4". The whole piece was adhered with foam dots for dimension.

All Supplies are from Papertrey Ink unless otherwise noted:

Cardstock: White, Harvest Gold, Simply Chartreuse, Dark Chocolate
Petterned Paper: Simply Chartreuse Paper Pack
Stamps: Trendy Trees
Ink:  Dark Chocolate
Dies:  Trendy Trees, Limitless Layers 1 3/4"
Embossing:  Woodgrain Impression Plate
Other:   foam dots, Grass Punch (Fiskars)

There is still time to enter your cards at CASology.  This week cue word is SUN.

CFC59 - Round and Round

This week the CAS-ual Fridays challenge is to create a clean and simple card using two circles in your design.  With the Scorching Heat that has been blanketing most of North America this spring and summer I think I have ice cream on my mind.  I created this card for my baby who is turning 15 this coming Friday.  I finally used Melissa Bickford's Sweet as Can Be stamp set and dies to create my ice cream cone birthday card.  The two scoops of ice cream were created by die cutting the smallest Notched Flower from Papertrey.  I wrapped each scoop with co-ordinating twine and embellished with a button.

All Supplies are from Papertrey Ink unless otherwise noted:

Cardstock: White, Sweet Blush, Kraft
Stamps: Sweet as Can Be
Ink: Dark Chocolate, Sweet Blush, Kraft
Dies: Sweet as Can Be, Notched Flowers
Other:   foam dots, twine (The Twinery), buttons
