CCC #94

Time for this week's Cue Card at CASology!

Scroll down if you are looking for my Countdown to Confetti post.

I created a masculine birthday card this week, actually more specifically a card for my hubby who had a birthday on the 5th.  He got his card a bit early as he left last Friday to head back to Edmonton for a couple of months. I focused my design on the embossing with just a clip and a sentiment in the corner.

1.  One main image--sentiment
2.  Lots of open space
3.  Limited layers & embellishments--clip
4.  Quick & easy to recreate

Head on over to CASology today to learn what the 'cue card' means to you, how you can play along and see the all the cards created by the Design Team to inspire you.

Clean & Simple Card Making Day 5

IMG_4037

Homework for Day 5 & 6 of Clean & Simple Card Making 3.  Laura Bassen taught a great technique using masking and ink blending. Laura must have incredible patience (have you seen her video using the Hero Arts triangle die?) and creative talent. I didn't have the Post It masking tape (on shopping list for tomorrow) so I tried the technique using washi tape. It works but I smudged! So I did it again, the second time the washi tape ripped the cardstock when I was pulling it off, I may have smoothed it one time too many. So back to the first card with the smudge. Hmm...do you like the pink arrow strip at the top and bottom? Not my idea of ideal CAS design (purest that I am), but it covered the smudge! I will definitely try this again with the Post It tape!

Happy Tuesday and it's time for this week's new colour palette from the colourQ!

I used Papertrey Ink's new Background Basics: Stitching stamp to create a fun background. I think I have fallen in love with this stamp.

Dynamic Duos #76

IMG_2869

Happy Saturday!

Yesterday we took my son back up to Sudbury after his fall reading week!
We drove him, his roommate and his best friend who was coming to visit for the weekend.
I was not a blubbering mess this time. During this past week I was able to see how he has grown and matured over the past 7 weeks and with a hug, an I love you, a wee bit of a lump in my throat off he went with his friends and a promise to see me when he returns home for Christmas.
It is all good.

Time for a new colour duo at Dynamic Duos.  I can't believe how fast the last 6 month's have gone.  This is the last week for the current Design Team and I have had such a great time working with and getting to know such a talented group of ladies. Thank for Lesley and Anne Marie for the opportunity!

It is a monochromatic week with this fabulous duo:

I used only the two shades of purple on my card finishing it off with a few purple sequins.

The is one of three posts today, so if you are looking for my Fresh Squeezed Stamps Day 1 Release post or my CASology post just click on home to start from the beginning.

Happy Tuesday and time for this week's new colourQ!
We think you will have fun with this one as you have a say in the colours.

So what is your palette going to look like?

In the past I shied away for graphic cards and tended to only make cards that were cute or flowery.  I think the reason I didn't do graphic is because I didn't know how to get started.  With so many amazing crafters out there who do graphic so well, I sat up and paid attention.  Crafters like Cristina Kowalczyk and Laura Bassen inspire me to try over and over again.  I chose green as my 'one spot of colour' and used my new Papertery Ink set Autumn Pattern Pieces to create a graphic birthday card.

CCC #62 and Seize the Birthday

IMG_2406

Time for this week's CASology Cue Card, this week's cue is:

There are so many stamp companies right now that have great arrow stamps and I realized when I made my card for this week I don't really have many.  So I did a bit of shopping first in my own stash and then online, soon I will be overrun, but for today's post I used this sweet perfectly sized arrows from Fresh Squeezed Stamps for an easy gender non-specific birthday card!

I am also submitting this card to the current Seize the Birthday challenge.

CASE Study Challenge #151

IMG_1918

Time for this week's CASE Study and it is also my last week as Guest Designer. It has been such a fun month studying the gorgeous cards of Jocelyn Olson.  What I love about CASE Study is that it pushes you to think outside the box, to explore your creativity in new ways and to grow as an artist.  Jocelyn is an amazing digital and hybrid card maker and it really pushed me to explore options I hadn't before and to see what I could come up with using ink and stamps.  Check out this week's fantastic digital card.

Just in time for creating my card I received the new Neat & Tangled Ink Splash stamp and I put it right to work for my version of Jocelyn's card. I am going to be submitting this to both the Moxie Fab World Birthday Card Challenge and Seize the Birthday Anything Goes Challenge.
