CCC #260 - Juicy

IMG_3064

Last week I had so much fun playing along with the team at CASology for their 5th Birthday Party that I had to play along again this week when I saw that the cue card was:

Timing couldn't have been better because I just received my new Papertrey Ink Fruit Salad dies and what is juicier than a watermelon in summertime?

Today is National Watermelon Day so I had to make a watermelon card.

It was one of those days where the lighting was off, here is another shot, the colour is a bit more true to the card here.

I started off by sponging some Bristol Smooth cardstock with Mowed Lawn regular Distress Ink for the rind and then I sponged Twisted Citron and Abandoned Coral Distress Oxide Inks for the flesh and the fruit. The three panels were spritzed with water that was soaked up with paper towel. Next I sponged some Black Soot Distress Ink on another panel for the seeds. Then I die cut a stitched rectangle, stamped the sentiment in black and popped it up on a card base with foam tape. The watermelon slice was added with foam tape as well. Finally I added a few sparkling clear sequins filled with silver Stickles.

Thanks for dropping by!

CASology 5 Year Anniversiary Blog Hop

IMG_2833

Five years ago I received an email from Melissa Chipperfield asking me if I would be interested in being on the inaugural design team of a brand new challenge called CASology! I replied with a definite YES and that was one of the best crafty decisions I have ever made. From July 2012 until December 2016 I did #229 challenges with Melissa and the team at CASology!

I think it is amazing that they are celebrating their 5th anniversary and the challenge and participation is still one of the strongest challenge blogs going. Congratulations for 5 successful years and many many more!

I am very honoured today to be participating in the 5th Anniversary Blog Hop!
Of course you can't have a party without a balloon and lots of prizes too!!
The cue card this week is:

CCC #229 and a Goodbye

cover

It's time for a new cue card at CASology!
On the heals of the holidays this is a two week challenge and hopefully you will be able to find a crafty moment to play along.

This week`s new cue is:

For my card I made a yummy toasted marshmallow. I started off by die cutting my shapes and then coloured my stick with Copic markers and then embossed with a woodgrain impressioin plate. The marshmallows were sponged with Brushed Corduroy Distress Ink for that lightly toasted look. I created a border with chocolate brown cardstock and the sentiment was also stamped in brown. The marshmallows were adhered with foam tape for dimension.

Thank you all so much for sending your good wishes and prayers to my mom last week.  I am happy to report that she is doing well and is now home. That was definitely my Christmas wish!

Hop on over to the CASology blog to see what the rest of the team has made to inspire you this week.

Now for a goodbye. This will be my last post as a design team member for CASology. I have been on the team since the very beginning on July 10, 2012, see my first post HERE. It was my first design team and 229 weeks later I am stepping down. I have needed to make some changes in my commitments and make more time for family and my health. The CASology team has been like a family to me and Melissa has been such a pleasure to work for, she is so talented and so organized. I will miss the amazing girls on the team and you can be sure that I will come back and play along with the cue cards as often as I can.  Thank you so much Melissa! xo

Wishing you all a very Merry Christmas, Happy Holidays and all the best for 2017!

It's time for a new cue card at CASology!

This week`s new cue is:

I stamped first in VersaMark, then in VersaFine and clear embossed my sentiment. Then I stamped and embossed in white a series of snowflakes. The final step was to sponge Tumbled Glass and Twisted Citron Distress Ink over the embossed images. This method leaves lots of white space which lends itself to a solid CAS design.

Everyone has a favourite and mine is cupcakes! On my birthday what I like to see with a candle in it is a cupcake. This week I stamp this sweet tiny cupcake and candle from Lawn Fawn and coloured them with Copic markers.

I used this sweet little Paper Smooches band aid as the star of the show. I paired it up with a kraft base on a white zig zag stitched square that is popped up.

CCC #220

It's time for a new cue card at CASology!

This week`s new cue is:

I was so excited to finally receive this Neat & Tangled Perfect Blend stamp set! Even more excited to see that I could use it for this week's CASology challenge! I created this card by stamping the coffee cup image on to watercolour paper and then watercolouring  the cup and saucer with Distress Ink. The sentiment was embossed with gold embossing powder. I die cut a square that was 3 1/4" and adhered it to the card base.

Now who would have imaged that Addicted to CAS would have the same code word as CASology! It was bound to happen sometime!  I am also submitting this over to Challenge #99 there. ;)
