Scrap'n Stamp 12 Days of Christmas - Day 11

Welcome to Day 11 of the 12 Days of Christmas at Scrap'n Stamp Canada! Every day there is new Christmas inspiration and a new sale! Today's deal is 25% off products from Colorado Craft Company!

I used Colorado Craft Company's Santa Bunny stamps and dies for my projects today!

The cute Santa Bunny images were coloured with Copic markers and then die cut with the co-ordinating dies. I die cut 3 extra bunnies from white so that I could stack the bunny up. I've been doing this a lot lately instead of using foam tape.

I blended three shades of Distress Oxide inks for the sky--Tumbled Glass, Peacock Feathers and Prize Ribbon. Once completely dry I white heat embossed the sentiment on the sky and then I cut a mask for the sentiment from a full back post it mote. The panel was trimmed to 5 1/4" x 4". I put the mask over the sentiment and then applied Nuvo Glimmer Paste through the Lawn Fawn Snowflake Background stencil and set it aside to dry. Santa bunny and the Shhh... sentiment were added and the panel was attached top a white card base.

The second bunny was coloured and cut and then made into a gift tag. I punched a hole into the back of the bunny's hood to add some gold cord to attach it to a gift.

Color Hues #54

Hi friend, Happy November! We have a colours for the Color Hues Color Challenge #54! A little twist for December, we are running this challenge for the entire month--you can post up to he 28th!

I started with a panel of navy cardstock and I ink blended Chipped Sapphire Distress Oxide ink around the sides and top of my panel. Then I die cut the Simple Church die from Birch Press Designs from cream cardstock and attached it to my blue panel I cut with the largest of the Small Lawn Fawn Stitched Rectangle dies. The sentiment from the Greetery was gold embossed on the panel which was attached to a white card base. I think the white card base makes the navy and cream really pop.

Since this is typically the busiest time of the year you have a month to play along with this challenge, I would love to see you over at the Color Hues! Head on over to see what my fabulous teammates have made to inspire you!

Color Hues #53

It's time for a new color duo at the Color Hues Color Challenge #53!

I played with the Concord & 9th Boughs & Holly Stencil set. This holiday card was so much fun to make!

I used Catherine Pooler inks to stencil this wreath in the challenge colours! I used Garden Party, Grass Skirt, Deck the Halls and Rockin' Red.

The sentiment was heat embossed using Wow Metallic Gold Rich embossing powder.

The panel was cut with the largest Lawn Fawn Stitched Rectangle Stackable dies and it was attached to a white card base with foam tape..

This stencil set was so easy to use and the completed wreath has so much dimension!

Playing Cards with Michele

I am so excited today to be Playing Cards with my good friend Michele Ferguson over on her blog I Card Everyone!

I had the pleasure of meeting Michele in November 2014 when she came to Toronto to visit and play cards with me, for both of our birthdays! Since then Michele and I have been close friends and we actually met once again for lunch in Toronto! I'm excited to have another chance to meet my funny and ever so talented friend once again. I hope that I'll be gifted once again with a jar of her homemade pepper jelly made from her very own garden!

In honor of our own November birthdays, we are both using the following parameters...
  • Make a birthday card
  • Add flowers
  • Colored anyway you choose
  • But absolutely NO NUMBERS ALLOWED, because as Michele said to me we are all still only 29! lol

I used the Altenew Golden Days stencil set for my flower and I ink blended using all four layers of the stencil with Catherine Pooler inks--Do-Si-Do, Coral Cabana, Samba and a little Grass Skirt for the flower centre.

Once the ink was dry I cut the panel with the largest of the Lawn Fawn Large Stitched Rectangle dies. Then I splattered some Gansai Tambi Starry Colors watercolour on to the panel and then finished it off with a gold foiled sentiment from the Pink Fresh Perfect Sentiments Hot Foil die.

Now it's time to head over to visit Michele and I am sure she has something fabulous waiting for you to see!

Thank you Michele, it was so fun to play cards with you today!

Thanks for stopping by!

Woodblock Wednesday

I was so excited when Amy Tsuruta said she was going to host Woodblock Wednesday. Such a fun idea to get those stamps out of storage and ink them up. As soon as I opening the box I have them stored in I fell right down the rabbit hole! Oh how I loved those stamps that were relegated to a shoe box.

I inked up trees from an old Hero Arts Set, Small Holiday Trees. I did a little ink blending on the rubber surfaces and then I lined the trees together face up so they would be straight. Then I took a deep breath and lay my white papers over top and gently pressed down over the whole stamp. The sentiment, Handwritten Holiday Message, is also from Hero Arts.

The stamps I used:

Color Hues #52

Happy November!

It's time for a new color duo at the Color Hues Color Challenge #52!

Teammate Hannelie chose our colours and at first I was a bit stumped of what to do but then I grabbed the new PinkFresh Swirl Background stencil and created a fun background using all five stencils with only two colours!

I used Catherine Pool Catching Rays and Aquatini ink from the Party Collection. Creating the pinwheel was easy with this set. Each stencil is a double, meaning that you can create both sides of each band at the same time. I created the pinwheel and then using the 5th stencil I was able to create another thin band beside each band. I may need a bit more practice with the stencils to get that crisp white line beside each band but I was happy with the way it turned out.

I ink blended a small piece of cardstock with Catching Rays and white embossed my Happy Birthday sentiment from the Spellbinders Shopping Bags stamp set. I cut it out with a circle punch and added it to the centre of the swirl panel with foam tape.

I trimmed the panel down to 5 1/4" x 4" and adhered it to a white card base.

Please head over to the Colour Hues and see the wonderful creations that my teammates have made. They amaze and inspire me every single time.

I can't wait to see what you create, thank for stopping in!

Sympathy Cards

 Hi there crafty friends!

Typically I will say how fast time is going, but honestly 2022 can't come to a close quick enough for me. Sadly I have had to make quite a few sympathy cards these last few months. This year has been one of loss both young and old, sickness and tragedy.

I tend to go back to cards I previously created and either use the same elements or recreate them with a different spin.

Today I'm sharing a couple cards using products that are older but still perfect for making sympathy cards!

The first one uses a now retired set from Papertrey Ink Turning a New Leaf.

My second card I created using Stitched Leaves from Lawn Fawn.

Thanks for shopping by today!

More Sunflowers

Happy Monday!
Time to start a new week!

It has been a difficult summer. I am so fortunate that my parents have lived such a full life. However, my father took ill at the beginning of August and sadly passed away a week ago. My siblings and I pulled together and made sure that my mom got to the hospital every day to see him and now we are helping my mom grieve the love of her life that she was with for 73 years! So many good memories to draw from.

Therefore I have not been crafting very much and I  hope to change that! I have a couple more cards that I made with the Sumputous Sunflower embossing folder from Crafter's Companion! I added my colour right inside the embossing folder, added a spritz of water and put in my watercolor cardstock. I used a small finger tip foam to add a bit more brown to the flower centre .

Thanks so much for stopping in today!

Color Hues #50

It's time for a new color duo at the Color Hues Color Challenge #50!
Can you believe that we are on challenge #50-Wow!

Teammate Carol selected this wonderful palette and for me it screams Fall and Halloween!

I started off by masking the bottom of a panel of Bristol Smooth cardstock. Above the masking I blended Shaded Lilac, Wilted Violet and Villainous Potion Distress Oxide inks  I haven't done ink blending in a while snd I can't tell you hope therapeutic it was blending the colours together. I moved my mask to cover the purple and I ink blended Black Soot Distress Oxide ink below the purple sky. I set it aside to dry and I ink blended another panel of Black Soot to cut my spooky fence from. The pumpkins are from Ellen Hutson and they were Copic coloured  the boo sentiment is from an old Neat & Tangled set.

Color Hues Challenge #49

It's time for a new color duo at the Color Hues Color Challenge #49! Thank you for those you who participated in our 2nd birthday challenge, your cards were fantastic!

This challenge we are using colours that I picked, yellow and brown. We are at the tail of sunflower season here and that is what I was thinking about when I chose these colours!

I used the Crafter's Companion Sunkissed Wishes stamp set to create a simple sympathy card. The card that is always hard to make when you are in need. It i always nice to have a few on hand.

I stamped and black heat embossed the sunflower on a panel of Bristol Smooth cardstock and then I coloured it with my ZIG Real Brush markers. I haven't had them out in so long it was nice to see that they haven't dried out and how fun and easy they are to blend with!

The background was embossed with the Lawn Fawn Just Stitching Scallop Circle and then I blended Squeezed Lemonade and Mustard Seed Distress Oxide ink around the outside of my panel. The sentiment is from Papertrey Ink and I popped the panel up with foam tape on to a top folding kraft card base.

Please head over to the Colour Hues blog to see what the rest of my teammates have made with this colour duo!

Thanks for stopping in and have a great day!

Scrap 'N Stamp Colours of Fall Inspiration Hop

Hi friends and Happy Friday. I'm back again hopping with Scrap N' Stamp Canada on Instagram for the Colours of Fall Inspiration Hop!

Please comment on my Instagram @traceymcneely for your chance to win a $50 gift certificate for the Scrap 'n Stamp Canada store.

Do you have a time of the summer when you know that summer is coming to an end? For me it has always been when the Canadian National Exhibition (CNE) opens in Toronto. This year with everything going on it completely took me by surprise but it happened followed by September 1st and now the air is cleaner and crisper and I have even seen a few of the trees starting to take on the colours of fall!

I used Catherine Pooler Fall Calls for Latte stamps and dies for both of my cards. For my first card I created my own patterned paper using the leaf images from the set in autumn colours. Then I stamped and black heat embossed some of the coffee cups and then carefully coloured them with my Copic markers. You would think after all these years that I would have enough markers but I think I need to get a few more to match these newest ink colours-lol!

For the second card I made my own cardstock using 5 Catherine Pooler inks and once they were dry I stamped and die cut the three leaves with the same colour ink to create a tone on tone image. I made a pile of leaves on the card panel that I cut from Lawn Fawn Stitched Rectangle Stackables and rather than trying to glue each leaf separately I picked them all up with some Stretch and Seal, turned them over, applied glue to the backs of the leaf pile and then turned it back over and placed on my panel. No shifting at all!

I finished off by flicking some yellow gold Kuretake Gansai Tambi Starry Colors watercolour on the card front. Any type of watercolour splatter would work like the new Kuretake Gansai Tambi Opal! I can't wait to get this set to try it out!

Don't forget you need to comment on my Instagram @traceymcneely for your chance to win!
