I have a huge box of memories that need to be scrapbooked and I am really hoping I get going on that again soon. My goal is to complete my my albums for Ben and Brooklyn, before they hit 30--lol!

Now for today's hop I have two projects--the first is a card and the second a canvas that would be a great gift for a crafty friend! Both use the same mini stamp set from Gina K called Crafty & Creative.

I just love the fonts and fun of this cute stamp!

For the card I used the Lawn Fawn Bubbles stencil to create a group of dual coloured dots on the page and then stamped a sentiment from Gina K Designs Crafty and Creative mini stamp set. The panels were cut using Lawn Fawn 4 Bar Stitched Dies.

Distress Oxide Inks:
Tattered Rose, Saltwater Taffy, Dried Marigold, Carved Pumpkin, Twisted Citron, Peacock Feathers, Shaded Lilac, Blueprint Sketch and Wilted Violet

Moving on to the canvas ink blended a panel of cardstock with a rainbow of Distress Oxide inks and cut the Lawn Fawn Thought Bubble Frame from the panel and cut the tiny hearts from the same die set in some of the colours that I didn't grab cutting the thought bubble! Glued to the canvas and a bit of foam tape for dimension!

(the canvas is 5" x 7")

Lawn Fawnatics #120 - All Things Birthday

Hi there, thanks for stopping by. Today I have four cards for the current Lawn Fawnatics Challenge #120!

I used the new Lawn Fawn Clover stencil to make four birthday cards in four different colours each with  custom coloured sentiments. I used Distress Oxide inks for all my cards:

Orange: Spiced Marmalade/Crackling Campfire
Pink: Kitsch Flamingo/Pink Raspberry
Blue: Salvaged Patina/Blueprint Sketch
Green: Mowed Lawn/Lucky Clover

I used the Lawn Fawn Giant Happy Birthday die cut for all four cards. I cut each from Pixie Dust cardstock which I ink blended with the darkest colour from each colour pair. I cut a second from black cardstock to create a shadow which I think, makes the Happy Birthday die cut pop off the background.

I missed submitting the green version to SSS Wednesday Challenge Bit O`Green!

Have a great day!

Spring is in the Air

I feel like I haven't made a card in a long time, just because... So no better way to get back into again to find one, or two or even three challenges to play along with.

I made a card for a few challenges--Inspired By Challenge IB169 Spring Is Sweet, Color Hues Challenge #15 and Simon Says Stamp Wednesday Challenge - Happy Birthday! This is the 12th Anniversary of the Simon Says Stamps Wednesday Challenge.

With the weather getting better outside I decided to make a flower the focal image of my birthday card because my supply is getting low. Flipping through my flower stamps I found the Amaryllis set from Pretty Pink Posh that I have never used.

I started out by stamping a black clear embossing all the images that I was going to use on to a panel of Tim Holtz watercolor paper. When I clear emboss in black I start by covering the entire stamp with embossing ink. Then before stamping it down, I cover the entire surface with VersaFine Onyx black ink. This extra step may not necessary but I have always done it this way and always get a good impression!

Before cutting the images, I taped the watercolour panel down to an 8" x 10" panel of particle board with Frog Tape. I find this helps keep the watercolour paper flat. I used Distress Inks and my watercolour medium. I just squish some ink on to my craft mat and pick up the colour with a wet paintbrush.

Once the panel is dry, I die cut all the images and then lay the images over a white top folding card base.

Once I like the arrangement I adhere the images and add a sentiment--done!

Thanks so much for stopping in today to craft with me.

colourQ #360

IMG_0631

 Happy Tuesday!

It's time for this week's new colour palette at the colourQ.

I have been wanting to use my MFT Stamps Sensational Stitched Flowers dies since I got them and thought that making them with fall colours was the perfect reason. A bit of dimension between the two bottom layers and some brown ink splatters made a quick and easy card to create.

I am also submitting this to the Simon Says Stamp Wednesday Challenge Clean and Simple!

Autumn Flamingo - Simon Says Anything Goes

IMG_0548

This is the first time I have been in my studio in over a week. I have to tell you it feels strange. I was busy busy making sure my kids had everything they needed and packed before heading up to school. The packing got done and they headed up to school on Saturday. We followed behind because Brooklyn was moving into a new dorm. Ben already has an apartment in Sudbury but was home for some home cooking and to pick up a few things. I love the my kids go to the same university, they are on different campuses but I feel better knowing that they have each other and if Brooklyn needs something her big brother is just a text away and has a car. That makes Mom and Dad feel much better.

In the meantime I received a package from Simon Says Stamp in it was the Hero Arts Color Layering Flamingo (finally), the Ombre Autumn ink pad and a few ala cart ZIG markers. I am not exactly sure why I wanted to make a flamingo with Ombre Autumn ink pad but I really wanted to, and I did. It didn't turn out quite like I hoped but the second try was a bit better. I used VersaFine ink before sponging with the Ombre ink and there was a bit of smudging. I think I should have done it the other way around? Any thoughts on this are welcome. After the panel was done and matted with gold I applied Wink of Stella for some shine and added a few Ombre ink splatters and Stickles filled sequins!

Muse Christmas Visions #55 and the 30 Day Coloring Challenge - Day 26

IMG_0397

I have a card today for Muse ChristmasVisions Challenge #55!

Kevin Bray is the Guest Designer this week and he created this fun Christmas card for the inspiration:

I decided to go with similar elements for my card. I used a circle frame, a penguin image and addtional image (the snowballs) and a blue sky.

I started by fie cutting two circle frames. For the background circle I embossed five snowflakes in white and then I used a Light Blue ZIG's Clean Color Real Brush Marker to watercolour my sky. I cut the second panel with a tree landscape die and painted some Wink of Stella on to the snow in the horizon. I stamped the penguin and watercoloured again with my ZIG's using an acrylic block and a water brush. The snowballs were painted with two coats of Wink of Stella. The sentiment was added to the card case and then the background circle panel was adhered to the card base with foam tape. The two images were adhered with adhesive.
