Seize the Birthday #328

Hello crafty friends!

I'm back with another card for Seize the Birthday #328! This time it is an anything goes card, no vellum or acetate! I used the Hero Arts Tote Bag dies for this one and set it up so you could make it a gift card holder.

After I cut the pieces for the tote bag I added a sentiment from the Spellbinders Shopping Bags set. It's an older set I've had for a few years. I stamped the sentiment with Catherine Pooler's  In The Park ink!

My background uses papers from Lawn Fawn's Speffier Speckles 6 x 6 paper pad. My tote bag was added with foam dots so that I could add a gift card into it. So that I could line it up properly I held the gift card where I wanted to place it and then turned it over to get the foam dots in the right place. I used an old gift card as my placeholder. This is actually one I use when I'm reinking my ink pads to spread the ink over the pad.

Once I had it lined up and the foam dots in to the right place and attached it to the card front.

The little details on for the tote bag make for such a realistic look--the stitching across the top of the bag, the little tag and of course the stitched lines for the handles and the front pocket.

A really quick and easy card too make and I love that the options are endless.

I am submitting this to Seize the Birthday #328 Anything Goes!

Thanks so much for stopping into today!

Seize the Birthday #328

Happy Saturday Friends!

I can't believe I am actually posting a card that I didn't make for a commitment! I need to start building up my stash of birthday cards. I don't know how my supply of cards got down so low. I seem to always have something to do that doesn't involve crafting! With our daughter's wedding coming up in July there always seems to be something that needs attention or doing.

This past Mother's Day. My husband and I were on our way home from visiting both our mother's heading northbound. A car travelling southbound made a left hand turn right in front of us, he apparently did not see us. We were travelling about 80 km, or 50 mph, and it was quite a crash.

Our truck actually flipped the other truck on to it's side!

Fortunately everyone walked away from the accident. The paramedics checked me, my husband and even little Jax out. I had some abrasions from the seatbelt but after a couple days I wasn't feeling right and went to my local hospital to be checked again. I had three fractured ribs. I am much better now 7 weeks later, it's still a bit tender but overall better.

When something like this happens, you really appreciate how vehicles today are built for safety. The front of my husband's almost brand new truck was crushed but inside the cab, other than that all the airbags were deployed, the space was still intact. The truck was written off. Jax had been on my lap but headed to the back just before it happened, so grateful! We are getting a barrier to keep him in the backseat moving forward. Animals like children are not safe in the front.

If you have even been in a car where the airbags have been set off you know that it's intense.

Time to move on, I think writing this post has been therapeutic for me! Thanks for listening.

So today I made a birthday card for Seize the Birthday using the new to me Spellbinders Pink Lemonade Stand dies. Taking a page from my friend Nancy Leppek I made the easel a shaped card cutting in on the top of a folded 5 1/2" x 4 1/4" card base.

The extra topping this week is to add vellum or acetate sheets. I used vellum for my pitcher and glass. Lots of tiny pieces but it was fun to make.

I added a pink of ink to my die cuts, a bit extra pink on the pinks, darker yellow on the lemon and darker green on the leaves. A bit hard to see.

The white embossed Happy Birthday is a sentiment from Honey Bee Stamps Birthday Wishes.

There are so many possibilities with this die set. I love how the frame has all the woodgrain details!

This card is for Seize the Birthday #328!

Thanks for popping in and enjoy the rest of your weekend!.

Seize the Birthday #326 Guest Design

Good Afternoon friends! Today I'm excited to be the Surprize Party Guest with the Seize the Birthday challenge. I was so excited to be chosen as the winner for Seize the Birthday #324

For Seize the Birthday #326 the topping is to feature an animal on your card. My husbands birthday was last week so I used this opportunity to make a card for him with a dog on front. I just happened to have Spellbinders Skateboard Terry on hand and when he was cut with white cardstock and a black nose and eyes it is our sweet boy Jax!

The background is from Lawn Fawn's All the Sparkles 6 x 6paper pad.

A kraft coloured circle for Terry to skateboard across on his green ride.

The sentiment is from Honey Bee Stamps Birthday Wishes. I added an extra Happy Birthday sentiment inside.

I hope that you join us this challenge. It's always a good time to make a birthday card! I can't wait to see what you make!

Color Hues #90

Hi there crafty friends! Today we start a new colour duo at the Color Hues Color Challenge #89! Our fearless leader Nancy Leppeck chose the challenge colours of White &  Aqua--so much fun!

I had a plan in my head and when it came time to execute it I struggled with my water. Then the idea of bokeh popped into my head! I blended a panel of Concord & 9th Powder cardstock with Tumbled Glass and Salty Ocean Distress Oxide Inks.

I have three homemade masks for doing bokeh. Three cardstock pieces each one with a different size circle cut from the centre. I use these along with white pigment ink when I want to add bokeh to my design. Handy and always fun but if using Dox inks, make sure the panel is completely dry before adding pigment!

The seagulls are Waflle Flower Crafts Inquisitive Seagulls and the umbrella from the Waffle Flower Crafts Beach Umbrella Die-n-stencil.

The sentiment is from Lawn Fawn`s Henry`s Build a Sentiment: Spring. I find I this set really useful!

First Attempt Waffle Flower Postage Collage

Happy weekend! Today I'm sharing my first attempt at using the Waffle Flower Crafts Postage Collage die and Beach Days Stencils. There are three stencils in the set and for my first run I used the stencils as they were intended. I used all Catherine Pooler Inks.

Next time I'll be a bit more adventurous and try something new.
These are really fun to use!

The background in from the Waffle Flower Crafts Coloring Stencil. I have seen some done in non traditional postal colours that are really amazing!

The Happy Birthday Sentiment is from the Penguin Palace's Enchanting Paris. I love that the "i" in birthdy in a small letter!

Floral Birthday

 Happy Friday!

Today I have a card I made the Color Hues Challenge #16 and I made it a birthday card to also submit to Seize the Birthday #212 - Spring Flowers and the pastel yellows for The Flower Challenge #55 - Pretty Pastels. Slowly I am rebuilding my supply of birthday cards. The funny thing is that there is always a pause when I go to make birthday cards. I love making floral cards, but I also like making cute and funny cards too.

What do you do when you think out when you go to make a new birthday card?
Do you make your cards for your recipient, or do you make cards to have on hand?Or do you choose a theme for your card to build of a supply?

Do you like flowers? or critters? a geometric shapes?
So many questions, I am always curious of how other creators, create!

The colors for Color Hues are Yellow and grey. I will be honest, this was a tough challenge for me. I'm not much of a yellow person, but once I got out all my yellow inks and started playing around I really liked the yellow with the grey. Of course yellow isn't the easiest colour to take good pictures of, but many takes later I chose the photos I am sharing here today.

I brought out an old favourite, Altenew Floral Art, I have always loved the whimsy of this set and with a bit of masking and overstamping it always makes a pretty card.

I stamped the main large layered flower in Altenew Silver Stone, Buttercream and Warm Yellow inks. Then I build up the rest of the card front in the upper left of the panel mixing in some of the other flowers and leaves in the set using the same ink colours along with Altenew Lava Rock.

I trimmed down and added the panel to a dark grey mat. A few Stormcloud pearls from Studio Katia were added to create a bit of interest.

Thanks so much for popping in today and have a wonderful weekend.
We are heading into some warmer weather and hopefully the cooler winter weather we has this past week was it's last hurrah!

Seize the Birthday

IMG_4003

Happy Saturday!

Today we are heading up to Sudbury again to see Ben and to go look at some apartments for next year! Are you kidding me? I was just getting used to him driving when he headed to University but now living of his own? I think it may be the allure of a full sized fridge!  Regardless it should be a fun day. Hope it is a nice day for traveling.

A post needs a card, so a birthday card for fun. I was itching too try out my new Text Block Birthday die from Papertrey Ink. I love that you can put a birthday card together in just a couple of minutes using the die and some patterned paper.

CCC #62 and Seize the Birthday

IMG_2406

Time for this week's CASology Cue Card, this week's cue is:

There are so many stamp companies right now that have great arrow stamps and I realized when I made my card for this week I don't really have many.  So I did a bit of shopping first in my own stash and then online, soon I will be overrun, but for today's post I used this sweet perfectly sized arrows from Fresh Squeezed Stamps for an easy gender non-specific birthday card!

I am also submitting this card to the current Seize the Birthday challenge.
