Mother's Day Swan

It's the beginning of a new week and I'm hoping it's the beginning of getting my creative mojo back again. I know I am not alone when I say that my mind hasn't been settled lately nut the weather is getting nicer and better times have got to be on the way. I am getting ahead a bit and have created a couple of Mother's Day cards for my two favourite Mom's using the new Lawn Fawn Swan Soiree stamp set. Also a bit of colouring for the Daily Marker 30 Day Coloring Challenge.

My background was created by making my own stencil using a grass border die that I cut from a piece of lightweight cardstock. I started with the top piece and I ink blended my grass going downwards using Mowed Lawn and Twisted Citron Distress Oxide Inks. Then I used the bottom portion of my stencil to cover the grass and blend upwards with Tumbled Glass Distress Oxide ink to create my sky. I trimmed my panel and stamped my sentiment to the top.

I cut a piece of grey Lawn Fawn Gotta to Have Gingham patterned paper to 5 1/4" x 4" and taped it to my card base. The ink blended panel was attached using foam tape.

The other elements from the stamp set were stamped, die cut and coloured with Copics markers. Then I created my pond scene by adhered the elements with foam tape for dimension.

Thanks for stopping by today!

CCC #86

IMG_4007

We have a new Cue Card for you ready at CASology for this week.

This one had me scratching my head at first, but then I thought to me my roots are my Mom. She has been there for me since the very beginning and she is still where I go when I need advice.  I used the pigment and dye ink layering technique for my flower. I did this to add some depth to my CAS design using one smaller focal image. It is really lovely in person as you can see the white pigment flourish on the card and you can see it carry into the flower.

Mother's Day Wrap Up & MFW Gift Tag Challenge

I hope that all Mom's had a wonderful Mother's Day.
I wanted to take a moment to show you how I finished up my Mother's Day gifts for my Mom and my Mother-in-law. Jumping on the bandwagon with the 'tea' craze this year both Mom's got some loose tea and an infuser from David'sTea.  Then I used Laurie Willison's Card Hanger die to create custom gift bags that co-ordinated with the Mother's Day cards I made last week HERE and HERE. I die cut the card hangers from white and then stamped them using the same images as the card in the same colours.

I am linking up my tags to the Moxie Fab World 350 Cards & Gifts Tag Challenge.

Edit:  Ooops French side of the box showing!

Quick and easy!

CASE Study #139

The Muse this week at CASE Study Challenge is Maile Belles. Maile has her own personal style of CAS Fabulous.  The CASE Study is based on this fantastic card of hers:

I really put my thinking cap on for this one and I kept coming back to the flower.  So I stamped a flower first on a piece of 4 1/4" x 5 1/2" cardstock.  Then I carefully used my trimmer to go along  about 1" in from the edge of the stamped piece to as close to the flower as I could, then fussy cut the flower.  Then I adhered it with foam tape to an embossed cardstock base.

Here is my card:

All supplies are from Papertrey Ink unless otherwise noted.

Cardstock:  Whit
Stamps: Daydreamer
Ink:  New Leaf, Winter Wisteria (PTI)  Memento Tuxedo Black (Tsukineko)
other: dot embossing folder (Cuttlebug)

colourQ #188

Happy Tuesday!

Time for this week's colourQ palette and it is based off a beautiful spring dress.

So excited to break open my new CAS-ual Fridays 'Mums the Word' stamp set.
This is my first CAS-ual Fridays stamp set and I have to say that they stamp beautifully!  The big flower is stained pink now, but I am getting better at dealing with that.  Such a lovely set to create Mother's Day cards with!

We hope that you come a play with us this week at the colourQ and while you are there make sure to visit the blogs of the rest of the Design Team to see their fabulous creations.

Flower Show CASE Competition

\

Waltzingmouse had a Flower Show on April 19th with some distinguished guests who were asked to create a project that featured flowers. Now Waltzingmouse is holding a Flower Show CASE Competition.  Select a design from the Flower Show and CASE it.  Sadly I don't have any Waltzingmous flower stamps, YET, but found during the April Blog Waltz that the snowflake from Sewing Box Christmas can double as a flower. I decided to case this fabulous card created by Helen Berry.

and this is what I came up with.

Stamps: Sewing Box Christmas, Woodenheart Alphabet (Waltzingmouse) Mat Stack 1 (Papertrey Ink)

Mother's Day Tea & He's Back

Today I am sharing an invitation that I made and mailed out to my two Mom's.  Every year my daughter and I have my Mother and Mother-in-Law to our house for tea and scones.  It is an opportunity to bring out the china tea cups and the lace tablecloth.  I feel so fortunate that I have these two wonderful ladies in my life and that I am able to keep this tradition.  It is one my daughter plans on carrying on as an adult.

All Supplies are from Papertrey Ink unless otherwise noted:

Cardstock: White, Lavender Moon, Winter Wisteria
Stamps: Tea for Two Additions
Ink: Lavender Moon, Winter Wisteria (PTI), Tuxedo Black memento (Tsukeneko)
Dies: Parisian lace Doily, Banner Builders, Tea for Two, Mat Stack 4, Mat Stack 4 Layerz, Edgers #4
other: foam dots

Good news last week, my son is back to normal.  His spleen has shrunk back down and tucked behind his rib cage where it should be and his liver levels are normal.  With a grin ear to ear he is back on the rugby field after an agonizing 6 weeks.  He got a cleat in the back of his head Monday and came home with a goose egg and a cut, but still grinning.  A windy cold day, but that is spring rugby in Ontario. Now if we can get through the next four months without injury it's all good.
