Have a Holly Jolly Christmas and a Festive Fall - November '15

Can you believe that it's the 30th of November?
I hope that all of my American friends had a Wonderful Thanksgiving Weekend with your families.
It's time for this month's edition of The 12 Kits of Occasions.  Kim Heggins, Cupcakes, Card & Kim, is our hostess this month and she sent us a fun kit with polka dots, the sweetest die cut images and embellishments to play with.  Kim was sweet enough to send me a self assembling kit. My cards seemed to come together effortlessly.

Moving right into the cards so that you can continue on the hop...

Pop back to the 12 Kits of Occasions blog to see what the other girls have done with Kim's kit!

The 12 Kits of Occasions - October '14

It is time once again for the 12 Kits of Occasions, with Halloween tomorrow we are posting today. A bit early, some of the girls will be posting on the 31st so you are getting two days of inspiration!

Jessica is our hostess this month and she sent out the most fabulous kit full of goodies for fall and Thanksgiving cards! Loaded with die cuts, patterned papers and other fabulous goodies.  I could make so many cards with it. I have three today, more tomorrow.  No excuses I totally procrastinated this month. There has been a lot going on at home and in blogland. It seems I really do believe I can either get 25+ hours out of a day or that sleep is totally not necessary!

I will have more cards to post tomorrow.

I hope that you find some inspiration here today, happy hopping!

My first card uses the new sketch at Freshly Made Sketches #160

My second card uses The Paper Players #219 Sketch Challenge

I am absolutely wild about the ink pad that Jessica used for the sentiment on this next card! It looks so fabulous against the purple background.

colourQ #215

IMG_3008

Happy Tuesday and time for another colour palette at the colourQ!

I did a little two toned stamping on my Mum for the centre of my card . I inked the whole flower with Autumn Rose and then inked over the centre using Scarlet Jewel.  A very subtle transition. The Crushed Curry panel was die cut with a Stitched Circle and then I die cut the same size stitched circle of white giving the double border and allowed me too inlay the white circle.  The sentiment was stamped with Orange Zest and then I matted the panel with Autumn Rose cardstock.

Many Thanks and City Crafter Challenge #181

IMG_2808

Happy Mail from CAS-ual Fridays came today!

Although Canadian Thanksgiving was last weekend I could not wait to ink up my new Amber Waves stamp set. It is always a good idea to have some thank you cards on hand. A kraft card base, Basic Grey Hipster patterned paper and that gorgeous bunch of wheat and of course I can't make a card without stitched matts.  A really clean and simple card to put together, I love it when a stamp is the showpiece! I am also submitting this to the City Crafter Challenge Give Thanks.

CCC #65

Are you ready for a new Cue Card from CASology?
This week's cue is:

Another fitting prompt for this time of the year.
This weekend is the Canadian Thanksgiving and I am heading to the cottage at the lake for a Thanksgiving feast.  While the leaves in the city are just starting to turn I know that when I get up there there will be a sea of yellow, orange and red! A lot still on the trees but many many more on the ground, likely covering the road on the way in.

So when I think of crisp I think of the sound of the leaves under my feet at the cottage on Thanksgiving.

I used Lawn Fawn's Into The Woods for my card, colouring the leaves in with Copics.

CCC #64

Time for a new CASology Cue Card !
This week we have another fitting challenge:

When I think of this time of the year I think of a warm colour palette. So I used some Stampin' Up More Mustard cardstock, Paperterey Vintage Cream carstock and Stampin`Up Soft Suede ink for that warm feel. I offset the image and the sentiment, overlapping slightly to give interest to my card rather than just stacking one on top of the other.  Smaller frames and larger borders are another way to draw the eye to your focal point as well as anchor your image.  Both my image and sentiment are older Hero Arts woodblock stamps. The sentiment was crooked on the block right from the day I got it. I gave it a quick 10 second zap in the microwave, then VERY carefully using tweezers I removed the rubber stamp from the block, straightened it out and then using an oven mitt I pressed down. Being very careful not burn myself because both the stamp and the block were very HOT! Once it cooled down it stayed in place.

I ♥ Fall

cover

Popping in this morning with my first fall card of the year.
I love summertime, and I love the heat, but no matter what whenever the cool crisp air of fall arrives I realize that I love fall just as much.

With the arrival of my new Lawn Fawn goodies last week I was anxious to break out the new Stitched Leaves Lawn Cuts and my Distress Inks. I used a bit of patterned paper and a sentiment both from from Into the Woods and placed everything on a Fine Linen card base.

I am also submitting this card to the Simon Says Wednesday Challenge.
This week's challenge is embossing.

DD#23

This weeks Dynamic Duos colours are Tangerine Tangelo & Old Olive.  I immediately thought of pumpkins and created my pumpkin thank you card.  I thought it would be a nice card to send to my sister-in-law who hosted our Thanksgiving dinner last weekend.  I chose Papertrey Simply Chartreuse & Orange Zest for my colours and had a chance to use some of the Orange Zest gingham patterned paper plus some Copic colouring.  I also used the Linen & Canvas Impression Plate on the white panel, it does not photograph well.  I think too much light.

All Supplies are from Papertrey Ink unless otherwise noted:

Cardstock:  Simply Chartreuse
Patterned paper: Orange Zest Patterned Paper Pack
Stamps: Friendship Jars Fall Fillers, Think Big Favourites #19
Ink:  Simply Chartreuse (PTI), Memento Tuxedo Black (Tsukineko)
Tools: Linen & Canvas Impression Plate
other: Copic markers (YR12, YR15, YR18 YG23, YG24, YG95)

CCC#14 - Leaf

Autumn is here and so is this week's new CASology Cue Card.

Perfect for Autumn this week's cue card is:

After a wonderful Canadian Thanksgiving weekend at the cottage I am here to share my LEAF card.

I wanted to show the changing of the leaves on my tree so I used a combination of five inks to create a gradient colour scheme for my leaf stamp.  By using gradient colour I was able to add depth to my CAS design.   I began by inking the entire leaf image in PTI Harvest Gold, my lightest colour, then working clockwise around the perimeter of the leaf image I dabbed Canyon Clay. Terracotta Tile, Scarlet Jewel and Simply Chartreuse.  The tree trunk and the sentiment were stamped with Dark Chocolate all on a Vintage Cream panel attached to a Canyon Clay card base.

Head on over to CASology today to learn what the `cue card`means to you, how you can play along and see the all the cards created by the Design Team to inspire you.
