Curtain Call Inspiration Challenge

The Curtain Call Inspiration Challenge is raising it's final curtain today.
I was on the inaugural team from it's start July 2013 until November 2015.
The alumni members were invited to join in this final challenge that has been a fan favourite for 4 1/2 years now.

Of course I was inspired by the pine needles and pine cones and of course it's proximity to Christmas. I pulled out an old Papertrey Ink favourite, Peaceful Pinecones, and created a one layer card by masking part of the stamp so that I could create the bough in two colours. The sentiment was embossed in gold, then I added a thin strip of gold sparkle paper to the bottom of the card front and finally added a few gold filled Stickle sequins.

Hope you get a chance to play along for the final curtain call!

Color Throwdown #454 and The Curtain Call Inspiration Challenge

IMG_3069

A very last minute entry for the Color Throwdown #454 and not so last minute for the Curtain Call Inspiration Challenge Herb Garden. I was away this past weekend at the cottage for our annual family reunion barbeque. Why a reunion every year? Probably the norm for so many of you. Families grow, children grow up and life gets busy.

I am 1 of 5 children, add in spouses, 14 grand children and 10 great grand children and along with my parents we are 31. We all live in the greater Toronto area and yet if we don't do this a year flies by and we haven't gotten together. It is so nice to see everyone and catch up.

So today I am trying to get back into routine but I really wanted to play along with both challenges. I had this card in back of my mind all week. I love the serene colours at the Color Throwdown and I was inspired by foliage at the Curtain Call.

I splattered some green ink onto a kraft panel, stamped and white embossed my sentiment and finally added some white and green die cut leaves. Clean and simple.

I am also submitting this to the Simon Says Wednesday Challenge - Splatter It!

Curtain Call Inspiration Challenge - Plush & Plaid

The LEAD of this challenge will be invited to be a Guest Designer in an upcoming challenge!

Nothing like finding just the right piece of patterned paper for the job.
I have so much patterned paper that I just had to have. If you follow me very closely you will notice that I do not use it much in cardmaking. In scrapbooking it's another story. I use lots of it but on a small canvas like a card I like to keep my designs very CAS and too much pattern paper starts making me a bit anxious--lol

With fall and cooler weather closing in and the inspiration for this challenge has the most lovely colours. I found a plaid that picked up these colours and pulled out my Lawn Fawn Stitched Leaves dies to create a little scene like what I see when I look out the window.

Curtain Call Inspiration Challenge - Pretty Pumpkins

It's time for a new Curtain Call Inspiration Challenge!

I was inspired by the pretty colours in our inspiration this time so I began by sponging using some distress inks onto a white card panel. Then I stamped and die cut the pumpkins from the panel. I had a bit of a go at getting a photo that really captured the inking as it appears in real life.

Well the missing box of Stampin' Up inks, some NBUS Papertrey Ink stamp sets and my light tent appears to be the ONLY box that did not arrive to the new house in the move. My hubby went through every single remaining box last weekend and then a second time with me to make sure and still not there. He took it much better than I did even after I told him how much it would cost to replace. He is too easy going for his own good, but I'll keep him. Really the inks that I am the saddest about are the retired colours that I was able to find and purchase on eBay.

I hope you pop over to the Curtain Call and see what the rest of the team has come up with this time and to meet our two newest Design Team members--Leigh Penner and Lori Tecler.

Curtain Call Inspiration Challenge - Going Batty!

It's time for a new Curtain Call Inspiration Challenge!

I almost feel guilty and how easy this card was to put together!
I picked up the Recollections Black & Gold 6 x 6 paper pad last week at Michael's and this paper was perfect. I tried to think of more interesting or creative ways to be inspired but nope, nothing came. At least now I know that I used some of the paper rather than just hoarding in like I usually do--ha ha ha!

I die cut in the panel with my stitched rectangles and adhered it to my black base. Then I added a cute  Reverse Confetti Spooky Sentiment sentiment to the front popped up on foam. The hardest part of this card--was getting a decent photo.

Hope that you play along with us this challenge.

CCC #154 and The Curtain Call Inspiration Challenge, Lawnscapping Sparkle and Shine

IMG_8221

Happy Tuesday!

It's hard to believe that it has been a week since I last posted. I am plugging along with my packing, but honestly I am getting to the point where I want to be done. With 14 years in this house and 25 years of stuff there is so much that will not fit into our new home. However, now is not the time to purge that is safer to do at the other end.  Next week I will start packing up my craft room, that is probably going to be the biggest undertaking. The key will be to do it without getting distracted!

It's time for a new Cue Card at CASology!

This week the cue word is:

I don't know about you but I certainly could use a few of these on hand. I always have the best intentions, but I struggle with the execution. My repeat is the "Happy"!

This card is also my DT card for the Curtain Call Inspiration Challenge - Celebrate!

I am also submitting this to the Lawnscapping Sparkle and Shine Challenge for the gold Stickles on his hat!

Yesterday my daughter turned 18, amazing how quickly these past 18 years have gone. I posted this photo on Facebook yesterday after sorting through 12 years of digital photos trying to narrow it down to only 9. What I re-discovered was how many things she was involved with in her childhood. There was 11 years of ballet, tap and jazz, 12 years of soccer, lacrosse, field hockey, school plays, skiing, arts camp, leadership camp and yes dirt bike riding. I am excited for her as she heads off to university this fall and I hope that she continues to get involved once she's there.

I gave her the card that I made for her during the Essentials by Ellen June Pin-Sights Challenge and she loved it because apparently I am her person too!

Have a great day!

Curtain Call Inspiration Challenge - REMINDER

IMG_8165

There is still time to join us for the Curtain Call Inspiration Challenge!

You have until June 25th at 8:00 AM CDT to be inspired and share your project!

The LEAD of this challenge will be invited to be a guest designer in an upcoming challenge!

Some Distress ink blending to pick up the colours from the inspiration and cork flip flops are what came to mind from the inspiration. Just started wearing mine this week, I forgot how much I missed them! The flip flop dies are from Lil' Inker and the sentiment is from Papertrey Ink's  Flippin Out. I added a few of my favourite clear sequins from Pretty Pink Posh to finish it off.

Have a relaxing Father's Day!
