Handmade Cookie Exchange Tags

Happy Monday!

Getting into the Christmas spirit after this past weekend.
The tree is up and the house is decorated. I will share some photos this week. We had our family handmade/cookie exchange at my house this weekend. We started a couple years ago making our cookie exchange into a handmade/cookie exchange. So you have the choice of baking something or making something. I imagine you guessed which I chose!

I made a collection of 6 Christmas tags to exchange.

Tag You're It #61 - REMINDER

Happy Friday!
Well here we are the 2nd of December and I imagine the next few weeks are going to fly by!

I know that November flew right on by for me with the 25 Days of Christmas Tags event. As I write this post tonight the link up will be closing for those of you who are participating on December 2nd at 12:00 pm EST! I am just absolutely floored that as of midnight Thursday there have already been 477 awesome tags submitted! Will we make 500?

This is the reminder post for Tag You're It #61 where we have Loll Thompson as our Featured Artist! One of the things I love about this crafting community is how we learn from one another. I am still learning about ink blending and using bold colours scares me to death but when I saw Loll's gorgeous ink blending I had to try this fabulous colour combination using her tag as my guide. I absolutely love all the texture on her mixed media tag but I kept mine pretty simple because that is a bird I will tackle another time!

I started off by white embossing my tree image on a white tag and then I blended the same Twisted Citron and Peacock Feathers that Loll used. Then I finished it off with another layer for my snow bank, stamped my sentiment and finished it off with a few silver Stickles filled sequins and some pretty white ribbon.

You still have until Wednesday morning 9:00 am EST to play along.

Have a fabulous weekend!

Happy Howlidays - November '16

It's the last day of November and time for the 12 Kits of Occasions!
That's a little bit scary because we are now 25 days until Christmas--yikes!
With the holidays fast approaching I need to get a few more cards made. Kim Heggins, Cupcakes, Cards and Kim, is our hostess this month and she sent me exactly what I needed to get moving on more Christmas cards! She sent us the most adorable self assembling kits full of papers, stamped images and embellishments. All I needed was some Christmas tunes in the background and I was on my way.

So now what you are here for...

Birch Press Design - Mass Producing Snowy Tree Tags

There is nothing is more beautiful than the look and dimension of layered stamping. The Birch Press Design Let It Snow layered snowy tree looks so real it is hard to believe that there isn't actually snow on it. As beautiful as layered stamps are sometimes they are not the easiest to stamp. Today's tutorial is to help you to achieve the perfect layered result easily time after time. Once you master the technique you are set to mass produce the trees for holiday tags or to put on to your holiday cards. The tree is three separate stamps, for today's tutorial we are using two shades of green and a soft blue. We begin by stamping the first layer in the lightest shade of green.

Using the darkest shade of green we are going to add depth and dimension to the greenery on the tree. The following photo shows you where you will want to place the stamp for the second layer on the tree. You will notice there is an obvious notch at the bottom of the tree that the stamp fits right over. See all the gorgeous dimension?

Now this is where the magic happens. For the third layer we are using the soft blue or a soft grey would be lovely too. There is a little swoosh that sits of top of that notch we were using when we stamped the second layer, that is where you line up the final stamp.

See how the layers have all come together?

Once you have all your trees stamped, use the matching die to cut them all out. Doing the trees four at a time you can stamp them all out in virtually no time at all. Add a small hole it the top of the tree and add some twine and you are done.

It's time for a new cue card at CASology!

This week`s new cue is:

Everyone has a favourite and mine is cupcakes! On my birthday what I like to see with a candle in it is a cupcake. This week I stamp this sweet tiny cupcake and candle from Lawn Fawn and coloured them with Copic markers.

Inspired By All the Little Things #34

IMG_1056

Today I have a card to share with you that I created for this week's Inspired by All the Little Things.  I am the hostess this week and I thought this would be the perfect kick off to the holidays.

I started off by cutting a frame die using kraft paper, then cut it again in black. I embossed the sentiment in white on the black inside panel then distressed it with white ink. I put strips of Score Tape on the back of the black panel before inlaying it into the frame because it warped slightly when I embossed it.  I stamped my red ornaments to hang over the frame like in the inspiration photo. I drew a line for the string with a white pencil crayon. It still looked like it needed a bit more so I added the snowflakes, held me breath and embossed them on the completed card.
