A New Year of Birthdays

Happy Saturday!

After what has been a bit of a break for the 12 Kits of Occasions we are back today sharing what we have made with the January kit! I was the hostess for this month and I sent everyone a birthday themed kit to play with. After the holidays I thought this would be a fun change.

I hope that you hop along today over at the 12 Kits of Occasions. My Teammates and three special guests have lots of fabulous cards to show you too!

I made 7 cards for today with my kit.
The papers from Vicki Boutin's Let's Wander were the perfect mix of patterns for both masculine and feminine cards as well as cards that can be very gender neutral.

My first two cards were a twofer. I ink blended the MFT Stamps Big Birthday Wishes using Distress Inks in rainbow order. I used the main piece for my first card and made a shaker card.

All the pieces that came out of the first die cut to create a second card. I made a slimline card, inlaying the pieces therefore the twofer!

Thanks for popping in today, make sure you have a look at what the rest of the team has made!

Fall Splendor - October '20

 Happy Halloween!

It's the last day of the month and you know what that means, it's the October edition of The 12 Kits of Occasions! This month Birgit, Crafting While I Wait, sent each of us a beautiful fall kit this month with beautiful papers from Carta Bella's Fall Market and lots of die cuts to play with too!

Once I finally committed to cutting into the papers, oh how I didn't want to, I made four cards and I still have enough leftover to make a few more.

He they are all together...

Please pop over to The 12 Kits of Occasions blog to see the fabulous creations my teammates have made! All of the supplies are over on the blog in the Monthly Supplies tab!

Whatever you do tonight, have a safe and spooky Halloween!!

This month Kim Heggins, Cupcakes, Cards & Kim, is our hostess and she created a fabulous kit with a theme we have never featured before--Light Houses! She sent the most darling die cut images to play with, adorable papers from the Doodlebug Design Anchors Aweigh collection and some punny sentiments too. April Showers Bring May Flowers

Hope you are all doing well in your days of self isolation. Some days it seems that time is moving so slow and other days fly on by but here we are on the last day of May and time for the 12 Kits of Occasions group post. Marcia Hill, Marcia's Stamping Pad, is our hostess this month and she sent us all oodles of flowers to bring a little colour into our lives.

I made four cards with this month's kit.

Happy Birthday

Happy Saturday!

It is an abnormally cold weekend here in Ontario, we apparently have a 'polar vortex' looming over us complete with high winds and snow. Yuck! From inside where we are still self isolating the sun keeps emerging every now and tricks the mind to thinking it's warm, but trust me it's not! On a happier note today I am sharing my projects from the April 12 Kits of Occasions a wee bit late. Our hostess for April was Nancy Penir, Artful Notions, and although she sent my kit out earlier than all the other's it took the milk route to get here arriving just the other day. I think the postal system has been a bit off kilter during the pandemic.

So better late than never I am very pleased to post my cards from Nancy's fabulous kit. Nancy sent all of us the most amazing collection of panels, die cuts, images and embellishments all focused on birthdays. I don't know about you but I seem to always be running low on birthday cards so her kit was just what I needed. I still have a few more cards left to share with you another time, but I couldn't wait to show you what I've done.

The 12 Kits of Occasions - Special Blog Hop for Sharron

Today over on the 12 Kits of Occasions blog we are having a special post and blog hop to honour the memory of our dear friend and design team member Sharron Gregory, On Papillon Wings,  who passed away March 30th. The design team members past and present have created friendship cards to celebrate Sharron and if you follow along the hop you will get find a personal post about Sharron at each stop along the hop.

I connected with Sharron very early on in my blogging days through the 12 Kits of Occasions which was the 12 Kits of Christmas back then. Right from the beginning Sharron was the sweetest, always visiting my blog and leaving the kindest and most thoughtful comments behind. I ended up joining the 12 Kits of Christmas in the second year and had the chance to really get to know her on a more personal level. Over the years we began to share snail mail with each other between the US and Canada. We regularly exchanged friendship cards, birthday cards and Christmas cards. Cards from Sharron always had the cutest images on them, mostly of children and critters. When I visited her blog to see what she created with her monthly kit she always had done something completely unexpected with the supplies that we all got. It usually ended up with me telling her how creative she was and that I had never thought of doing what she did. I am going to miss my friend but I am glad that we are celebrating her life today. I can't wait to see what the other girls have to say about Sharron.

For my card today I used the Avery Elle Rainbows stamps and dies. I just love all the possibilities of what you can do with this set. I used the largest die and cut on the fold of my card base to create a shaped card and then I die cut the rainbow, blended the bands with Distress Oxide inks and spritzed some water over the bands and blotted them with paper towel. The pieces were all inlaid back into the rainbow and I popped the whole thing up with foam tape to give it a bit of dimension.

Thank you so much for stopping in today. Head over to the 12 Kits of Occasions blog to see the full blog hop line up if you haven't already been there. Have a good day.

In Loving Memory of Sharron Gregory

The world is certainly seeing some very difficult times these days with the COVID-19 pandemic and I hope that everyone is staying well. Here in Canada we are, like most of the world, being asked by our Prime Minister Justin Trudeau to stay home to help Flatten the Curve.

We will not be posting cards for the last day of the month at the 12 Kits of Occasions for March.

It is with a very sad heart I am letting you know that we have lost a member of the design team at the 12 Kits of Occasions. Sharron Gregory, On Papillon Wings, passed away after complications with her heart in the morning, yesterday (3/30). Our hearts go out to her husband Harry and family at this devastating news, and we hope you will join us in sending prayers and heartfelt sympathies their way.

Please check back in a couple of weeks to the 12 Kits of Occasions as we will be doing a tribute post for our dear friend Sharron.

Stay well!

Crafty Friends are the Best - February '20

It's the last day of the month and that means it's time for the February edition of the 12 Kits of Occasions! Fabulous Jeanne Jachna, A Kept Life, is our  hostess this month and as usual the kit she sent to all of us to use was over the top! Gorgeous Vicki Boutin Kaleidoscope patterned paper, stamped sentiment and images, die cuts and embellishments! We have all made so many friends through this wonderful hobby and what a better way to celebrate it than to create with a kit themed after crafty friends!

I have been in a bit of a crafty slump these past couple of months but working with Jeanne's fabulous kit full of lots of new to me product was just the boost I needed. I still have ideas for at least five more cards, maybe on our next leftover month!

Here they are...
