Time for CASology Cue Card #80!

It will be interesting to see where this week's cue will go. For me I have used three shades of purple for my colour blocked sympathy card. My image was heat embossed with clear embossing powder and the sentiment stamped in black. I am also submitted my card to CAS-ual Fridays color block challenge.

CAS(E) this sketch #61 and Reverse Confetti January Color Challenge

IMG_3649

Happy Monday and I hope you had a great weekend.

Last week was quite a week, on Tuesday our furnace wasn't working so I called in the gas company and the heat exchanger was broken and was emitting carbon monoxide into the house! So it was turned off and while they were testing that they found that our hot water tank was doing the same and had to be replaced, so off it went too. Did I mention it was around -27 C last week? {that is -16 F in American}  LOL So they left us without hot water and a couple of heaters.  Long story short, we got a new hot water tank on Wednesday and we used the heaters until Saturday when we got a new furnace.

Nice and warm in the house now.

I have a card to share for CAS(E) this Sketch #61.
I am having lots of fun with my new Reverse Confetti stamps and dies. This card is also being submitted to the Reverse Confetti January Color Challenge.

Happy Friday and
Happy Birthday Muse!

Jackie Rockwell (creator) is our Muse for this anniversary challenge with this gorgeous card for our inspiration. I am also submitting to this week's Merry Monday Challenge which was to use Red, Vanilla, Kraft and Chocolate with ribbon and to Festive Friday because I was inspired by the photo of the red barn and nature so pulling out Lawn Fawn's Winter Sparrows seemed fitting.

The Card Concept: Challenge #2 - Using texture

tracey_CC-cover

Ready for a brand new challenge at The Card Concept?

Our new challenge is a texture challenge, so you as a participant will create your card based on one of the six defined styles from The Card Concept and incorporate texture in your design. Think of all the different types of texture you can add--heat or dry embossing, dimension, die cuts, accents, fabric, felt...the list goes on.

For my card I was really inspired by the gorgeous inspiration photo. I wanted to recreate the scene with texture but staying true to my CAS style.  I embossed the card base with stitching lines, I embossed then die cut the smaller panel, die cut the grass, house and roof. The roof is clear embossed. The smaller panel is raised slightly with foam tape and finally I added  wood heart veneer on the door (thank you Any Tsuruta).  Lots of dimension added but my design remains CAS.

CCC #79

It is time for a new Cue Card at CASology!

As always the Cue Card is left to the participants discretion, but many of the DT decided to take contrast to task and share a card that isn't CAS and then CASify it!

Here is a card I posted two years ago, when I was still struggling with what my style actually was. lthough i look at it now and still think it is a nice card. I don't think I would make a card like this again, just not my personal style.

Looking at this card the first thing I new I needed to do was to simplify it. Far too much clutter for a CAS card. So the first thing I did was choose the elements that I still wanted on my new card so I wanted to keep the kraft base, I still wanted this to be a Valentines card, I still wanted red hearts and I still wanted some borders too frame my focal image.

I replaced the die cut heart borders with a smaller scale stamped borders and I simplified the heart focal image to one heat only, but I popped it up for interest.

tracey_CCC79

You may see this as too plain but it was what felt right for me. Other options I considered were:

1.  Only the heart
2.  One of the original heart borders at the top and bottom
3.  Stamping the backgroud with the same argyle and adding the die cut heart

What would you have done?

Head on over to CASology today to learn what the 'cue card' means to you, how you can play along and see the all the cards created by the Design Team to inspire you.

I can't wait to see what CONTRST means to you!

Curtain Call Inspiration Challenge - Love Notes Reminder

There is still one week left of the Love Notes challenge at the Curtain Call.
I have another project to share with you.

We have a fabulous new sponsor, DeNami Design, for the Curtain Call Inspiration Challenge: Love Letter challenge!

DeNami Design generously provided love themed stamps for each of the crew gals to work with for the challenge today!  Thanks so much, DeNami Design...we LOVE our stamps!

The LEAD of this challenge will receive a $20 gift certificate to use at DeNami Design!

Using the Small heart Outline I created a background of red hearts on the pillow box. I stamped the hearts before applying any adhesive or folding the box.  To create my double tag I stamped the same heart in Versamark on the red tag and heat embossed in clear. The white tag was stamp with one single heart and a Valentine sentiment.

Just enough to hold a sweet treat to put in somebody's lunch bag!
