Lunar New Year July

Hi there crafty friends, it's Tracey here with you today sharing my July card for the Lunar New Year Challenge. Check out this months sponsors below.

I used products from Catherine Pooler for today's card. My background was created with Catherine Pooler's red rubber Fan Dance Background stamp. It was stamped with Catherine Pooler Pebble Dye Ink. I chose to trim the panel down to 4.25 " square so the orientation would work with the rest of my design.

The sentiment was stamped on to the front card panel. It's from the Catherine Pooler Lantern Festival Stamp Set.

The lanterns are also from Catherine Pooler's Lantern Festival. They were stamped in Catherine Pooler Inks--Fiesta Blue, Flirty Fuchsia and Lime Rickey. I stamped a few of the chains and pulls for the lanterns.

Everything was die cut with the coordinating Catherine Pooler Lantern Festival Dies.

The two outside lanterns were added to the card front with liquid glue and the centre lantern was added with foam squares.

I had forgotten that I wanted to splatter the panel before adding my sentiment, but still possible. I made a mask with a Post It note for the sentiment and then splattered gold Altenew Metallic watercolor over the panel and set it aside to dry.

Thank you for stopping in today and I hope that you have found something that inspires you

Lunar New Year Challenge - June card

Hi there crafty friends, it's Tracey here with you today sharing my June card for the Lunar New Year Challenge. Check out this months sponsors below we have Lawn Fawn, Altenew, Sunbird Spark and Whimsy Stamps joining us as sponsors this month.

For my card I used stamps and dies from Lawn Fawn on my card this month including their new Pull 'n Slide interactive dies.

Slide open...

The first step was to die cut all of the pieces from the Pull 'n Slide interactive dies. I used kraft cardstock for the outside panel and cream cardstock for the inside. The base layer is Papertrey Ink Canyon Clay cardstock!

Once all the pieces were cut I used liquid glue and foam tape to prep the slider as per the instructions from the how to video on Lawn Fawn. Those were set aside while I prepped all my images. I stamped a variety of cactus, greenery, rocks, the cake, the snake from Lawn Fawn Critters in the Desert stamp set. I also stamped and die cut the cake and candles from the same set. Those will go into the inside of the slider, but it was also set aside after colouring.

The images were coloured with Copic markers and die cut using the co-ordinating dies. The die cuts were arranged over the front of the hill and attached below the score line so that the slide mechanism is able to lift up and display everything that was attached below the fold line.

This is when I paused and was able to stamp the sentiment on the inside of the slider. I also stamped Happy Birthday on the top of the slider that is hidden when closed. I used the die cut cake and candles as a guide to help me find where to stamp. They were glued in after the stamping was done.

Some additional greenery and rocks were adhered to the slider base. This is the one that holds the slider but does not move. I closed the slider and glued the additional greenery so that the slider would tuck right into it when it's closed right in. So fun!

Thank you so much for stopping in today and I hope I have inspired you to try something new like an interactive card. This die set was

Lunar New Years Challenge - May

Today I'm sharing my May card for the Lunar New Year Challenge. Check out this months sponsors below. I used both Lawn Fawn and Trinity Stamps for my card this month.

I started off by stamping and die cutting all of the images I was using for my card. Then I coloured all of the images with Copic markers.

Jar - BG0000, BG10, BG11
LID - T6, T4, T2, T1
Money - YG11, YG13, YG17, Y11, Y13, Y15, Y17
Snake - R22, R21
Hat - V12, V15
Balloons - B02, B000, Y3, Y5, R22, R24

The background paper is from Lawn Fawn Spiffier Speckles and it was cut with the largest die from the Lawn Fawn Outside In Stitched Rectangles. I used the 12 x 12 version of the paper, but the 6 x 6 paper would work just as well. I linked to them both below.

Next I attached the jar and the external bills and coins directly to the card base, . I added the money inside with Scrapbook Adhesives Thin 3D Foam Squares.

I put tiny micro dots behind the snake to elevate it over the jar. I did not trust myself to cut several layers of the snake and glue together without making a mess. I added some dots to the party hat with a white gel pen.

I did however, cut three layers of the white SSSSSalutations sentiment and then glued them together with the coloured layer over the top!

The Trinity Stamps Party Snake is such a fun set to use with the cute, NOT REAL, snake and punny sentiments. Matched together with the fun Lawn Fawn How you Bean? Money Add On makes for a cheerful Lunar New Year card.

Thank you so much for stopping in today and I hope that you've been inspired to look at stamp sets you have that are not from the same company and how you can combine them together to make something new and unique!

Lunar New Yer Challenge - April

Hi crafty friend! Today I'm sharing my April card for the Lunar New Year Challenge. Check out this months sponsors below. I wanted to use something from each one of our sponsor's this month and I managed to do that.

The background panel which coordinates with the card base is Concord & 9th's clover cardstock. I stamped Catherine Pooler's Fan Dance using VersaMark ink and then, once dry, I cut the panel with the largest die from Lawn Fawn's Outside In Stitched Rectangles. It was adhered to the panel with foam tape.

I die cut oranges, orange sections, leaves and flowers from Concord & 9th's Citrus Crush dies using Concord & 9th cardstock and arranged them on the panel using selection of liquid glue and foam dots for variation.

The sentiment is from Lawn Fawn's Henry's Build a Sentiment - Spring. It was white embossed on Concord & 9th's Clementine cardstock and added to the panel with foam tape.

The card was completed with some of my favoutite Altenew Artistry metallic watercolor splattered mainly over the oranges.

Lunar New Year Challenge - March

Hi there crafty friends, it's Tracey here with you today sharing my March card for thethe Lunar New Year Challenge. My card uses all Lawn Fawn product, starting with How You Bean? Money Add-On stamps and How You Bean? Money Add-on dies for my Lunar New Years card sending good fortune to the recipient. I stamped and die cut the pile of money and then used my Copic markers to colour the stamped images.

Paper Money: YG11, YG13, YG17
Coins: Y11, Y13, Y15, Y17

Since 2025 is also the Year of the Snake, I used the Lawn Fawn Tiny Gift Box Lizard and Snake Add-On to create the cute (yes I said that) snake coming up on to the card. His eyes are inlay with black and then I added some shine with a white gel pen. I placed a small carefully cut piece of black cardstock behind the head for the nostrils and mouth.

I used the largest die from the Lawn Fawn Outside In Stitched Rectangles to cut a piece of green paper from the retired Lawn Fawn Perfectly Plaid Rainbow 6 x 6" paper pad. Next I cut the focal panel in white from the Large Stitched Rectangles. It was adhered to the green panel on the card base with foam tape.

To make the gold circle I used the Lawn Fawn Fancy Circle Stackables from gold sparkle cardstock and the Lawn Fawn Stitched Circle Frames cut from mat gold cardstock. The frame covers the scallops on the bottom layer.  The money was attached using Foam Tape and the snake adhered right at the bottom of the panel.

The celebrate sentiment is stamped and white embossed on black.

Happy Lunar New Year - February

Hi there crafty friends, it's Tracey here with you today sharing my February card for the Lunar New Year Challenge. Since we are right on the heels of the 2025 Lunar New Year this New Year's card is a Lunar New Year card. This is the year of the snake and I added a very cute Lawn Fawn snake from Critters in the Desert!

I started off with a piece of light blue cardstock. When I'm ink blending a night background I find it easier to start with a panel of lighter blue and ink blend over the top of it. For my background I used Tumbled Glass, Prize Ribbon, Chipped Sapphire and Black Soot Distress Oxide Inks. Once it was dry I splattered Altenew Gold Metallic Ink over the panel to create a sparkley sky.

I foiled the Lawn Fawn Foiled Sentiments: Happy New Year on the Concord & 9th Poppy cardsock and then cut it out with a circle die. I added it to the card front with foam tape. I used some older number dies I have to create the 2025 using gold mirror cardstock.

I stamped the cute little snake from Lawn Fawn's Critters in the Desert and then used the Lawn Fawn Critters in the Desert Coloring Stencils to add color to the snake and then used a Copic Marker to add some spots on the snake. The snake was also added tothe card front with foam tape overlapping the edge of the circle.

Lunar New Year Challenge - January

Happy New Year crafty friends, wishing you all good health and happiness throughout 2025. Today I'm sharing my January card and first official post as a designer for the Lunar New Year Challenge. The products I used today are all from one of this month's sponsors Catherine Pooler Designs!

I used the newly released Catherine Pooler Round of New Year for my focal point. I only used the outer ring of the die which cuts the Exterior Happy New Years ring so that as one piece. I did not cut the die apart because each piece cuts separately. It will always cut all the pieces and I can choose which I am going to use and save the extra cuts for future projects.

I cut it once from a 5 1/4" x 4 1/4" piece of red cardstock. I made sure I placed the die exactly where I want it on the card front, making sure I kept every single piece for when I did my inlaying. Then I cut it again from a piece of gold glitter cardstock. The gold piece was inlayed into the red front. I put a few pieces of double sided tape behind the words on the back of the panel and then I flipped it over so I could inlay all the tiny red pieces!

It was a bit of a labour of love but it looks so lovely inlayed into the card front.

Next I used Catherine Pooler's This Calls for Champagne stamps and coordinatingvdies to create the scene. I stamped out the images I was going to use with Copic friendly ink. I used the bottle of wine/champagne that did not have a top on it, the cork and two champagne glasses. I did some very simple colouring with Copic markers.

Wine Bottle - Y26, YG97, T6, T9
Cork - E31

The wine in the wine glasses was from a stamp in the This Calls for Champagne set. I used Catherine Pooler's Shea Butter ink.

I finished the card off by stamping Happy New Year from This Calls for Champagne stamp set in black ink in the bottom right hand corner.

Wishing you a Happy Lunar New Year!

I'm also excited to finally l have been able to let you know that after Guesting with The Lunar New Years Challenge since the fall, I'm now a regular designer on the team. I'm so excited to share my inspiration with you each month and I hope you play along.

Lunar New Year Challenge | November Challenge

Hi there crafty friends, it's Tracey here today sharing all the details for my Thank you card made from and older die from Papertrey Ink called Chinatown.

I started off die cutting the scene using a mat gold cardstock from the Spellbinders gold Opulent cardstock pack. Placing the die over the panel and a few light pencil marks to determine where to ink blend the road. Then I used Catherine Pooler ink's in Pebble, Buttercream, Samba and Flame for the ground and background sky.

Once the background was dry I splattered some gold metallic water colour paint on to the panel. I set the panel aside to dry and then I glued the Chinatown cover die to the background.

The sentiment is from Spellbinders Making Me Smile Sentiments. It was gold foiled on red cardstock.
