Fun Food Inspired Valentines

Hi there, I have a few more cards to share for Valentines. The Love You More dies from Concord & 9th and the matching stamp set make for some fun and cute Valentines.

I wish that there was a set like this when my kids were young and needed Valentines for their friends. They never wanted mom to make cards because they wanted to buy the latest and greatest cheap cards from the store--Spongebob and Lizzie McGuire come to mind--lol! I was telling this story to my daughter last week and she told me that next year I could make cards for all the little's in her kindergarten class. I guess I have some work to do!

This year not too many cards's left the house but I have a good start for 2024!

Thanks for stopping in today!

February Woodblock Wednesday

Hi there, I'm playing along with Amy Tsuruta's for her February Woodblock Wednesday

If I were to tell you that I opened up my boxes of woodblock stamps and I got a little lost--lol! I selected a favourite stamp, one of my first stamps, by All Night Media called Browning Poem. I always had some trouble getting a good impression but using Catherine Pooler ink in Twilight it was perfect on the first stamp. Of course I had to make sure it was straight first!

I stamped and fussy cut a Hero Arts woodblock heart called Polka Dot Heart in Catherine Pooler's Rockin' Red. A Lawn Fawn Stitched Rectangle and some foam tape and the card came together easily!

Thanks so much for stopping in. Hope you join me tomorrow for Scrap N' Stamp Canada's February Inspiration Hop!

Have a great day

CAS(E) this Sketch #108

IMG_7451

A last minute submission for CAS(E) this Sketch #108!

I haven't played in a while but I really didn't want to miss out this week. Why you ask? because the sketch was really challenging for me. I thought I had lots of ideas but when it came down to the execution, it wasn't happening. So why not take a pass this week? That would be giving up, everyone loves a good challenge right? As my Dad always said to me growing up a challenge keeps us fresh and keeps us sharp. It may not be the best card I have ever created, but it was a really enjoyable process.

I started with a white card base, then I stamped the SSS Grid Background pattern with Hero Arts Bubblegum ink. From there I die cut the new MFT scalloped edge rectangle from the new MFT Die-namics Tag Builder Blueprint 3. The heart from MFT All My Love was also stamped with Hero Arts Bubblegum ink.

The 12 Kits of Occasions - June '14

Well here we are half way through 2014!
What a better way to celebrate than the June installment of  The 12 Kits of Occasions!

Marybeth was our hostess this month with the perfect theme for summertime, weddings and anniversaries. The kits were full of the most gorgeous shimmery papers and die cuts. I have so much left over to play with once I see what the rest of the team has done.  Absolutely perfect colours for the themes.

I have five cards to share with you today.
I am also submitting these to the Simon Says Wednesday Challenge Anything Goes!

My True Love

IMG_5381

Happy Summer!

I just can't believe that it is the last week of June!
Beautiful weather has finally found us and next week it is time for celebrations, Canada and my Mom's birthday on July 1st, Independence Day on July 4th and my daughter's 17th birthday on the 6th!

My husband is coming home on Thursday for a week. As much as he is enjoying his job I think he has been feeling a bit homesick lately. Probably because there has been so much going on with the kids and he is feeling a bit out of the loop. Leaving everything in my {very capable} hands!

So to let him know that I still need him I made this card just as a reminder!

Curtain Call Inspiration Challenge - Something Simple

IMG_5013

We have an awesome new sponsor, Unity Stamp Company!  Unity provided each of the Curtain Call designers with an Itty Bitty stamp set for the Curtain Call Inspiration Challenge: Something Simple!  The LEAD of this challenge will receive a gift certificate to Unity Stamp Company!

I embossed the anchor and sentiment from the 'Love is My Anchor' set in white on vellum.  I use my Sew Easy tool to run a line of stitching holes across the top of the vellum and then using regular white thread I ran a running stitch using the holes as my guide. Something new for me.

We have a fabulous new sponsor, Pretty Pink Posh, for the Curtain Call Inspiration Challenge: Pink & Pretty!  The LEAD of this challenge will receive a gift certificate to the Pretty Pink Posh Shop!

You know I was slow to get on to the sequin bandwagon.  It may be because my daughter danced for 11 years and I saw sequins on all her costumes.  Not sure why I resisted because right from the moment that I put that first sequin on a card I was 100% hooked.  Now it seems like a card isn't quite finished without one. Today I used products from the Pretty Pink Shop for my card, Sweetheart  Mix sequins and Gold Heart Confetti.

CCC #93

IMG_4466

My card this week uses patterned paper, a die cut, twine and sequins but still has the integrity of CAS design because they are all used in smaller portions. I created my glow by inking a sponge daubber and pouncing it over the light bulb that had been stamped with Memento ink to reduce the risk of smudging.

1.  One main image--lantern
2.  Lots of open space - mini scene on small panel
3.  Limited layers & embellishments--twine and sequins
4.  Quick & easy to recreate

Head on over to CASology today to learn what the 'cue card' means to you, how you can play along and see the all the cards created by the Design Team to inspire you.

Reverse Confetti March Color Challenge

IMG_4108

I can't get spring out of my head, this has been by far the longest and coldest winter I can ever remember. Winter is the toughest season for me and really it can't get warm fast enough.  So playing with this spring colour palette from Reverse Confetti was a chance for me to imagine spring.

I thought that the patterned paper I chose was a perfect match to the top of the dress in the inspiration photo.
