colourQ #316

Happy Tuesday--
I have two posts today--The 25 Days of Christmas Tags and CASology combined and the colourQ.

It's time for this week's colourQ challenge!
Wait why am I posting for colourQ? I am back from my hiatus and will be posting regularly with the team again each week. Good timing to find my Stampin' Up inks.

I used the Essential by Ellen Bohemian Garden and Mondo Magnolia stamps for my card this week. I stamped on both a white and a cream card base. I liked the randomness of the stamping better on the cream base but liked the white with the colours better.  I will share both, what do you think?

Happy Tuesday and time for this week's new colour palette at the colourQ!

I finally pulled out my Paper Smooches Hooties stamp set and Owl Icons dies and opted for outline images. Aren't these little guys adorable? You have to love those eyes!  I use the sketch from this week's CAS(E) this Sketch for my design. I am also submitting this to the Paper Smooches Sparks Challenge and Virginia's View Challenge #5!

MIM #161: Watercolor Splats

IMG_4445

Happy Friday, I didn't want the week to pass without trying the current Papertrey Ink Make It Monday Technique: Watercolor Splats.  I made a panel blending Hibiscus Burst, Raspberry Fizz, Orange Zest and Summer Sunrise and cut out three butterflies from it.  The first one was technique gone badly, but I kept the other two.  The first one was also the one that captured all of the colours.

Reverse Confetti March Color Challenge

IMG_4108

I can't get spring out of my head, this has been by far the longest and coldest winter I can ever remember. Winter is the toughest season for me and really it can't get warm fast enough.  So playing with this spring colour palette from Reverse Confetti was a chance for me to imagine spring.

I thought that the patterned paper I chose was a perfect match to the top of the dress in the inspiration photo.

Papertrey Ink Blog Hop - March '14

IMG_4092

A card for this month's Papertrey Ink Blog Hop!

The theme this month was to add high gloss to your creations.  So I pulled out Sketched Scribbles and created a card base with some spring colours and then I die cut Wonderful Words Hello 5 times to create a dimensional accent.  The first four in white and the top hello is orange foil.

Here is a close up of the hello die cut.

Clean and Simple Card Making 3 - Day 7

IMG_4055

Another card for Clean & Simple Card Making 3, Kristina Werner taught a lesson on Copic colouring on vellum. I used this technique to make my sun using shades of yellow. My sun rays didn't want to lay flat when the card was standing so I needed to glue the rays to the vellum from the front because I had already glued the back in place inside the card. I took a scrap strip of vellum and put dots of Tombow Multi glue on it and slid it under the rays--one at a time.  Maybe lazy but it worked.
