Color Hues #116 - Blue & Red

 Hi there crafty friends!

Today we start a new color challenge at the Color Hues Color Challenge Blog! The new colours are brought to you by my fabulous teammate Julie Beech! She has chosen Blue and Red and wow did our designers ever bring a wonderful collection of cards, so many different approaches!

I pulled out an older Waffle Flower die that I have not used in a long time and made it into a birthday card!

The card came together really easily and based on how fast this summer is going I needed something quick and easy and most of all fun! I started by choosing two colours of cardstock both from Concord & 9th--Oceanside and Poppy!

I used liquid glue to attach a  5 1.2" X 4 1/2' piece of Poppy cardstock to the front of my card base. Then I cut the Oceanside panel with the Waffle Flower die. Once the panel was cut I white heat embossed the sentiment on it.

It was also attached it with liquid glue because I wanted a snug fit for my popped up layer in the next step. I made sure I glued around each opening for a snug fit.

I had a bunch of blue Oceanside dots left over from when I die cut the top panel, so I added a few to the card with pop dots to guide the eye from the top of the card down to the bottom.

Color Hues #115 - Pink & Grey

Hi there crafty friends, we are at the beginning of the next Color Hues Challenge #115. Our fabulous hostess Carol chose the fun colour combination of Pink & Grey!

I was a bit challenged as to what to do, but who doesn't like a good challenge? I decided to make a fun summer card that could be customized for many different occasions! I love and have always loved the MFT Seaside Seagulls and that is where my inspiration began.

I cut a grey mat for my card front to 5" x 3 3/4". I stamped a sentiment from the Seaside Seagulls stamp set near the bottom of the panel and then attached it to the card front with foam tape. I cut a circle from white cardstock and also added it to the card front with foam tape.

I thought the seagull would be really cute with a pink beak and the clouds lined with pink too! I coloured everything using Copic markers.

Copics Used: R22, R21, T0, T1, T2, E31, E33

The seagull and the clouds were added to the circle with a combination of liquid glue and foam dots. It was a really fun card to make!

Lunar New Year July

Hi there crafty friends, it's Tracey here with you today sharing my July card for the Lunar New Year Challenge. Check out this months sponsors below.

I used products from Catherine Pooler for today's card. My background was created with Catherine Pooler's red rubber Fan Dance Background stamp. It was stamped with Catherine Pooler Pebble Dye Ink. I chose to trim the panel down to 4.25 " square so the orientation would work with the rest of my design.

The sentiment was stamped on to the front card panel. It's from the Catherine Pooler Lantern Festival Stamp Set.

The lanterns are also from Catherine Pooler's Lantern Festival. They were stamped in Catherine Pooler Inks--Fiesta Blue, Flirty Fuchsia and Lime Rickey. I stamped a few of the chains and pulls for the lanterns.

Everything was die cut with the coordinating Catherine Pooler Lantern Festival Dies.

The two outside lanterns were added to the card front with liquid glue and the centre lantern was added with foam squares.

I had forgotten that I wanted to splatter the panel before adding my sentiment, but still possible. I made a mask with a Post It note for the sentiment and then splattered gold Altenew Metallic watercolor over the panel and set it aside to dry.

Thank you for stopping in today and I hope that you have found something that inspires you

Color Hues Challenge #113

Happy Canada Day!

and

Happy Birthday Mom! My mom is 94 today!

Today is the start of a brand new colour duo at the Color Hues Color Challenge!

I'm your hostess this challenge and in honor of Canada Day the colors for challenge #113 are Red & White! When it came time to create my original plan did not work out. Do you ever have one of those days when the bet laid plans just do not work--lol!

So the move from ink blending to coloured cardstock and a quick turn to the left and here we have it a new design! In honour of the holiday I made a Canada flag that is a bit wonky and fun.

A couple of strips of red cardstock on the edges to make the flag. Then I cut the maple leaf using a very old and classic die from Lawn Fawn called Stitched Leaves. I cut three of them and glued them together for dimension.

I cut the letters using MFT Stitched Alphabet in red and Spellbinders gold sparkle cardstock. Since the set has been discontinued I added a link below to the Lawn Fawn Oliver's Stitched ABC's which is a great substitute. They were glued together and added randomly to the card base with thin foam strips.

The words Happy and Day are from Lawn Fawn's Build A-Sentiment Spring. White emboosed on black and trimmed down and also added using foam tape.

Color Hues Challenge 112

Today is the start of a brand new colour duo at the Color Hues Color Challenge!

Teammate Stephanie has chosen Peach and Cobalt as the colors for challenge #112! I wasn't sure which direction I was going to go, but I recently got the Lawn Fawn Backyard Birdfeeder stamp set and the Build-a-Birdfeeder dies in my possession and thought what a great time to use them!

I started by cutting all the pieces from the build-a-birdfeeder dies. The actually bird feeder was stamped, cut and coloured with Copic markers. Then there were 5 white birdfeeders cut and glued together to make the well to hold the seed. The two birds were cut from dark blue cardstock and shaded with Copic markers.

The frame is an old MFT Stamps die that I cut with the peach gold flecked Lawn Fawn Spiffier Speckles 6 x 6 paper pad!

Next the sentiment from the Lawn Fawn Backyard Birdfeeder stamp set, stamped with Catherine Pooler Dress Blues ink. Then I attached the base of the birdfeeder inside the frame. Next the well was loaded up with some sunflower seeds from the Build-a-Birdfeeder dies and Studio Katia Gold Dust Seed Beeds.

The top of the birdfeeder had a clear acetate piece adhered behind it and it was placed on the top of the feeder and its contents.

The two blue birds were attached using a combination of liquid adhesive and small foam dots!

Lunar New Year Challenge - June card

Hi there crafty friends, it's Tracey here with you today sharing my June card for the Lunar New Year Challenge. Check out this months sponsors below we have Lawn Fawn, Altenew, Sunbird Spark and Whimsy Stamps joining us as sponsors this month.

For my card I used stamps and dies from Lawn Fawn on my card this month including their new Pull 'n Slide interactive dies.

Slide open...

The first step was to die cut all of the pieces from the Pull 'n Slide interactive dies. I used kraft cardstock for the outside panel and cream cardstock for the inside. The base layer is Papertrey Ink Canyon Clay cardstock!

Once all the pieces were cut I used liquid glue and foam tape to prep the slider as per the instructions from the how to video on Lawn Fawn. Those were set aside while I prepped all my images. I stamped a variety of cactus, greenery, rocks, the cake, the snake from Lawn Fawn Critters in the Desert stamp set. I also stamped and die cut the cake and candles from the same set. Those will go into the inside of the slider, but it was also set aside after colouring.

The images were coloured with Copic markers and die cut using the co-ordinating dies. The die cuts were arranged over the front of the hill and attached below the score line so that the slide mechanism is able to lift up and display everything that was attached below the fold line.

This is when I paused and was able to stamp the sentiment on the inside of the slider. I also stamped Happy Birthday on the top of the slider that is hidden when closed. I used the die cut cake and candles as a guide to help me find where to stamp. They were glued in after the stamping was done.

Some additional greenery and rocks were adhered to the slider base. This is the one that holds the slider but does not move. I closed the slider and glued the additional greenery so that the slider would tuck right into it when it's closed right in. So fun!

Thank you so much for stopping in today and I hope I have inspired you to try something new like an interactive card. This die set was
