Color Hues Color Challenge #107

 Hi there crafty friends!I'm sorry that I am late posting my card for the newest Color Hues Color Challenge! Teammate Jules Peddicord has chosen Orange and Teal as the colors for challenge #107.

The last three days we have been in a state of emergency here due to an ice storm that has done so much damage to our property and to our town and the towns surrounding us. We have had no power since Friday overnight, it just came back on this morning. All the trees and branches had a thick coating of ice on them and we had 24 hours of them snapping and breaking and falling down. The sound was unbelievable, like fireworks! I posted a couple videos on Instagram and FaceBook if you want to hear what we were hearing. It was very scary! We had three trees come down on our property, our beautiful cedar, that it probably close to 100 feet tall, split in half and thankfully missed the house! It has been such a difficult winter! Anyways, we are safe and warm once again and on to today's Color Hues post!

I used the PinkFresh Studio Detailed Leaf foil die and stencils for my card. Although the gold pearl embossed sentiment looks really nice in real life on the teal cardstock it did not photograph well! In fact you can't see it until you look at the close up below.

After stencilling using Catherine Pooler Apricot, Orange Peel and All That Jaxx inks I cut the leaf cluster out with the co-ordinating dies. It was attached to the teal card base with foam dots which gives it lovely dimension.

The sentiment, the big flub, was embossed with Wow Gold Pearl embossing powder. Which as I said above looks lovely in real life not so much in the photo.

Color Hues #106 - Lemon and Lime

Hi there crafty friends! Today is also the start of a brand new colour duo at the Color Hues Color Challenge! Teammate Julie Beech has chosen Lemon and Lime as the colors for challenge #106. I decided to go literal with my card. The hardest decision was deciding which Lemon and Lime stamp/die sets I was going to use.

So the winner was Concord & 9th Citrus Crush stamps and dies. I will tell you it took a bit of figuring because the images are a bit larger and all of them as so much fun! I die cut lemons and limes in the challenge colours using carstock scraps from Concord & 9th, MFT Stamps and Papertrey Ink. I inlaid the sections of each fruit, cut a shade lighter, into the dies that had sections. They looked absolutely delicious and makes me so excited for the warmer weather to arrive!

Some of the fruit are glued directly to a white panel I cut with Lawn Fawn's Outside In Stitched Rectangles. Some of the fruit were attached with foam tape. Next I stamped and die cut the sentiment and that was attached to the middle with foam tape in the centre and glue over the fruit that was already popped up.

I cut both sizes of flowers and some of the greenery. They were attached with a combination of glue and foam dots. Actually I cut a lot and put the cuts away with the set to make a few more cards in the future! Sometimes using a set for the first time, making lots of cuts helps you in planning your design and the extras make easy work of the next card!

As I was cleaning up I still had the Lawn Fawn Fruit Tiny Tags and Fruit Tiny Tags Sayings out, so I grabbed a couple more scraps and made a tiny birthday tag. If this card ends up part of a birthday gift, I have a cut tag to add to the package. The tag, sentiment and green sparkle cord is from Lawn Fawn. The little white flower is a leftover from my Concord & 9th cuttings.

Lunar New Year Challenge - March

Hi there crafty friends, it's Tracey here with you today sharing my March card for thethe Lunar New Year Challenge. My card uses all Lawn Fawn product, starting with How You Bean? Money Add-On stamps and How You Bean? Money Add-on dies for my Lunar New Years card sending good fortune to the recipient. I stamped and die cut the pile of money and then used my Copic markers to colour the stamped images.

Paper Money: YG11, YG13, YG17
Coins: Y11, Y13, Y15, Y17

Since 2025 is also the Year of the Snake, I used the Lawn Fawn Tiny Gift Box Lizard and Snake Add-On to create the cute (yes I said that) snake coming up on to the card. His eyes are inlay with black and then I added some shine with a white gel pen. I placed a small carefully cut piece of black cardstock behind the head for the nostrils and mouth.

I used the largest die from the Lawn Fawn Outside In Stitched Rectangles to cut a piece of green paper from the retired Lawn Fawn Perfectly Plaid Rainbow 6 x 6" paper pad. Next I cut the focal panel in white from the Large Stitched Rectangles. It was adhered to the green panel on the card base with foam tape.

To make the gold circle I used the Lawn Fawn Fancy Circle Stackables from gold sparkle cardstock and the Lawn Fawn Stitched Circle Frames cut from mat gold cardstock. The frame covers the scallops on the bottom layer.  The money was attached using Foam Tape and the snake adhered right at the bottom of the panel.

The celebrate sentiment is stamped and white embossed on black.

Color Hues Color Challenge #105

 Hi there crafty friends!

Never have I ever been so excited to see March arrive. I know we are still a long way to the end of winter, but we are on the back side of it now. No longer seeing those crazy negative double digits, at least not during the day. Next I'm looking forward to the big melt and thankful that we are at the top of the ravine we back on to so the water has somewhere to go!

Today is also the start of a brand new colour duo at the Color Hues Color Challenge! Teammate Carol Mayne has chosen Green and White for the first half of March and for me that makes me think of St. Patrick's Day.

I started off using an older Concord & 9th stamp set called Brighter Days, it is still one of my most favourite rainbow dies even though it has been discontinued. I cut the panel first with largest die from Lawn Fawn's Outside In Stitched Rectangles. I stamped my rainbow with two shades of green. The inks are both from Catherine Pooler--Lime Rickey and Grass Skirt. 

I also used Catherine Pooler Clovers & Blooms stamps and dies to create a four leaf clover stamped with Grass Skirt set into the centre of my rainbow and popped up with foam tape.

Catherine Pooler's Lucky word die was cut from Spellbinders mirror gold cardstock and adhered to the card front just underneath my rainbow. I finished the scene of with Catherine Pooler's Lucky Charm stamp set, stamped with Versafine Onyx Black ink.

Color Hues Color Challenge #104

  Happy Sunday crafty friends! 

I can't even begin to tell you how done I am with winter and the mountains of snow we have gotten this year! Today we are having another snow storm. Every window I look out has a wall of at least 5' of snow and growing. The snowbanks at the road are at least 10' tall and we are running out of places to put the snow! Poor Jax is wondering where all his grass has gone! So if the groundhog was right this should all be done in a few weeks--ha ha, not likely!

Moving on to something more interesting and fun, the newest challenge at The Color Hues Color Challenge has started. The Colours for challenge #104 were picked by my teammate Bonnie Klass and she chose fabulous Coral and Yellow!

I started off by stencilling my background using the new Concord & 9th Kristina Werner Love You Lots stencil. I used Catherine Pooler Do Si Do, Coral Cabana, Tiara and Catching Rays ink to for my background. It's such a creative stencil because the four layers fill a half sheet, 8 1/3" x 5 1/2", piece of cardstock. Once completed you can either cut it in half for two cards or score it so that your card is stencilled front and back. I trimmed mine down to 5" x 3 3/4".

Next I used the Spellbinders Diamond Plaid embossing folder with a piece of coral cardstock to make the background interesting! That was adhered to the card base directly with liquid adhesive. The stencilled panel was attached with foam tape.

The sentiment from Honey Bee Stamps Birthday Wishes was stamped once and cut three times and glued together to make a chunky sentiment. The word wishes was stamped and die cut once. 

I added a few iridescent hearts to the card front.

Happy Lunar New Year - February

Hi there crafty friends, it's Tracey here with you today sharing my February card for the Lunar New Year Challenge. Since we are right on the heels of the 2025 Lunar New Year this New Year's card is a Lunar New Year card. This is the year of the snake and I added a very cute Lawn Fawn snake from Critters in the Desert!

I started off with a piece of light blue cardstock. When I'm ink blending a night background I find it easier to start with a panel of lighter blue and ink blend over the top of it. For my background I used Tumbled Glass, Prize Ribbon, Chipped Sapphire and Black Soot Distress Oxide Inks. Once it was dry I splattered Altenew Gold Metallic Ink over the panel to create a sparkley sky.

I foiled the Lawn Fawn Foiled Sentiments: Happy New Year on the Concord & 9th Poppy cardsock and then cut it out with a circle die. I added it to the card front with foam tape. I used some older number dies I have to create the 2025 using gold mirror cardstock.

I stamped the cute little snake from Lawn Fawn's Critters in the Desert and then used the Lawn Fawn Critters in the Desert Coloring Stencils to add color to the snake and then used a Copic Marker to add some spots on the snake. The snake was also added tothe card front with foam tape overlapping the edge of the circle.

Color Hues Color Challenge #103

Hi there crafty friends, can you believe it's already February? I'm still wondering what happened to a June--lol! Today we start a new color duo over st the Color Hues Color Challenge. I'm so excited to be your host for the February 1st challenge and even more excited to feature the color duo of Pink and Red! Perfect for many occasions but especially fun for Valentines. 

I'm also excited to share with you that we are partnering up this challenge with the Inksprational Challenge! Details are shared over on the Color Hues Color Challenge blog from teammate and card maker extraordinaire Carol Mayne! This challenge our guest designer is fabulous Trina Pham!

I made another twofer this challenge by using an older Birch Press cover die called Cherish, I used Layer B which which leaves stitched hearts on the base. I cut it once from red cardstock, Papertrey Ink Pure Poppy, and once from Pink Lemonade, MFT Stamps.

The base layer was glued to my card base and then I inlay the opposite colour into the bases giving me two cards.

The sentiment "Hey Cutie" is from The Greetery's Hot Stuff! I don't have the dies, so I fussy cut the words he best I could. It took a few attempts--lol!

It's a bit harder to photograph so you can see the stitching lines on the red cardstock, but it shows up pretty good when you zoom in.
