A Birthday to Die (Cut) for...

A Birthday to Die (Cut) for...

It's time for the 12 Kits of Occasions June edition!
I can't believe that we are already half way through the year and another kit. Joyce Mehrberg sent all of us a fabulous kit full of amazing-ness! So many die cuts to create fun birthday themed cards and projects! She outdid herself and must have a sore arm from all that cranking! Thank you Joyce!

Here are the projects I created with this month's kit!

Detail with Wink of Stella on the flames:

I was out of town when I created this card and did not have any a craft mat, distress ink or a paint brush with me. I did however have a small cellophane bag, Papertrey Ink Hawaiian Shores Dye Ink cube and some Qtips! I smooshed some ink on to the cellophane bag, added some water to it and then used a Qtip as my paint brush to paint the layers of the circle sentiment. Then I flicked some of the watercolour on the card panel with the Qtip. Sometimes we have to make do with what we have--lol

Head over to the 12 Kits blog if you have t been there to see what the team has done this month!
Thank you Joyce for a fantastic kit!!

June Pin-Sights Challenge

Popping in with a card for the June Pin-Sights Challenge over at the Ellen Hutson Classroom!
When I saw that me friend Ardyth was one of the guest designers this month I knew I had to play along. I was immediately drawn to the party in the inspiration photo and that became by springboard.

I pulled out the Essentials by Ellen Products that I have and think are the most fun. All Inside and Oh Frappe came out to play. I decided to create a background of coloured frappe cups, since it is summer after all. I stamped them all on watercolour paper randomly. Then I watercoloured the cups using colours from the photo with my Zig Clean Color Real Brush Markers. I stamped and die cut the bear from All Inside and watercoloured him with Zigs as well. The panel was popped up with foam tape and so  was the bear. Sequins were also added to the panel. The last thing I did was stamp the sentiment and made a little sign for the bear to hold.

There is still time to play along!

CCC #204

It's time for a new cue card at CASology!

This week`s new cue is:

Ombre inks are wonderful when introducing multiple colours in CAS design. You achieve a subtle range of many colours that do not compete with one another. I stamped my butterflies from Reverse Confetti's Butterfly Dreams using Hero Arts Neon Chartreuse to Blue ink in a row. I cut down the panel to 5 1/4" x 4" and popped it up with foam tape. Finally added a small strip of MFT Stamps silver glitter paper along the bottom and a few clear sequins.

colourQ #348

Happy Tuesday!
It's time for a new colour palette at the colourQ!

I inked up Concord & 9th's Eat Cake & Celebrate which was one of the first sets I bought from them! I stamped the sentiment in Night of Navy (looks almost black doesn't it) and then I stamped and Copic coloured the candles. My white panel and the two die cut elements were popped up with foam tape for dimension--or maybe because I am a bit obsessed with foam tape! Makes a great masculine birthday card. I finished it off by adding some Wink of Stella on the candle flames!

Bridal Shower Picnic

.

Sharing a card today that I made for my niece's bridal shower picnic on Sunday! Details and photos at the bottom of this post.

Here is the card I made Lisa for the shower. Not an original design but one inspired by a card I saw online by Sarah Warmington. The arrangement of the elements from Lawn Fawn's Happy Wedding was so perfect I couldn't resist. There are so many talented cardmakers out there that make the Internet a constant source of card making inspiration.

A closer look at the Wink of Stella diamond:

Her sister (remember my niece who was married two years ago with the purple hair?) loves Pinterest and bringing it to life. So she planned a fabulous bridal shower picnic which happened in her mother's backyard. Tables decorated with lace tablecloths and white hydrangea arrangements, benches, a big blanket with cushions in the middle of the yard and a fabric pennant across the back fence made if look right out of Pinterest. Orange, Cranberry and Grapefruit Mimosa's, water bottles on ice wrapped in lace and a buffet to build your own box lunch was so much fun!

Put all that together with the hottest day we have had so far this year and the perfect breeze.

Finger sandwiches and wraps, little plastic cups filled with bean salad, quinoa salad, cole slaw and macaroni salad. Little paper cups filled with cut up veggies, olives and mini wrapped cheeses.

Doily lined take out boxes and plastic cutlery wrapped in a napkin and tied with ribbon.

Inspired By All the Little Things #21

A new challenge starts today at Inspired By All the Little Things!

I am the hostess this week with a fun summertime photo that I found on Pinterest for the challenge inspiration. There are so many directions you can go with this one remember it is about how the photo inspires you. Is it the colours, the scene, the theme, certain elements? For me my starting point was the colours that I saw when I looked at it, so I started by sponging a blue background based on the water and I sponged a tiny bit of pink into a few of the lighter areas which I picked up from the tablecloth. The panel was spritzed with water for interest.  I chose the flowers as my focal point again grabbing the colours from the bouquet on the table.

I hope you are inspired to play along with us.

TYI #50

Another busy week has passed by and yay it's Friday!

Summer seems to be in full swing--it has certainly been hot enough. The humidity broke on Thursday but as the weekend progresses we will be right back into it again.  I love the sunshine but we actually could use a little rain here, we have barely seen more than a few quick showers in the past month.

On to today's post! We are on to our 50th challenge at Tag You're It!
This is the end of Term Four and there are some exciting new changes as we roll into Term Five in July!

I hope you get a chance to play along with us using a tiny canvas. Remember there are lots of possibilities see 'How to Play Along' on the challenge blog.

Here is how I was inspired by Kelly's cute tag...

Head over to Tag You're It to see what the rest of the team made for this challenge!
Have a wonderful weekend!

CCC #203

IMG_0283

it's time for a new cue card at CASology!

This week`s new cue is:

I used two new to me stamp sets from Stamplorations for my card--Groovy Shoes and Strong Women. Strong Women I won from designer Becca Cruger when the set was first released. I first die cut my panel, then I stamped the sentiment, the image and coloured the shoes. I cut a piece of glitter paper to mat the panel with only a 1/8" border. The panel was popped up with foam tape for a bit of dimension.

Now my daughter and I agreed to disagree whether this works as a card of congratulations or not. I see it as congratulations I hope you celebrate by dancing like no one is watching or maybe if you were congratulating someone on a new job that they will flourish in their new position. My daughter gave me the okay with a question mark--ha ha ha! What do you think?
