DD #48

This week at Dynamic Duos the colours are Soft Blue and Deep Orange.  At first you might think they would clash but they actually are quite sweet together.

I created a shaped card this week, partly because I was going to use a tiny image and sentiment and I wanted to shrink the white space down a bit and party because they are so cute.

I die cut two large scallops in blue and the same size circle in white.  I stamped the scene first then I embossing using the Swiss Dots embossing folder to mimick the rain.  Not sure if I like that or not.  I would love to know what you think?

To hinge the card I used a trick I learned in Clean & Simple Card Making 2, to score a 1/2" of the scallop that will be the back and glue it to the front.  I also cut a bit off the bottom of the back so that the card would stand without rocking over.

All supplies are from Papertrey Ink unless otherwise noted.

Cardstock:  White, Spring Rain
Stamps: Pretty Ptches Umbrella (WPlus9), Love Lives Here (PTI)
Ink:  Smokey Shadow, Orange Zest, Spring Rain
Dies: Scalloped Circles and Circles (Spellbinders)

I love the shaped card. I forget about doing this. The swiss dots are great! I might have paperpieced the umbrella onto the dots after? Adorable!

This is so cute. And, I had forgotten about that tip for circle cards. I do like the embossed dots for rain, and a circle card is so fun, as you say--perfect for a small focal point.

That was such a great tip from the class (the scoring and the flat edge on the bottom). Love how your embossing folder dots look like rain! Fun card!
