Top 12 {of 2012}

It's that time of the year again when we pick our favourites from the cards we made in the past year.  How fitting that it is the Top 12 of 2012! I was completely shocked to find our that I had created 290 cards this past year!  I don't know why my family says that I have a problem.  LOL  Thanks for taking a stroll down memory lane with me.

Such a contrast from the photo I took last summer of the evergreen on the back right.  This is the scene I woke up to this morning.  The snow has been falling gently all day.

RS #43

We spend so much time preparing for Christmas and then it is over.
Now that the decorations are being put away we are ready to switch gears to something that isn't holiday themed.  I didn't set out to make a Valentine's card for this week's RetroSketch but it just happened.  This week's sketch is based on a card by this month's Retrosketch Headliner Brandi Hall.

Happy New Year, may 2013 be a wonderful year!

Little Tangles #3: Color Challenge

Little Tangles is having their 3rd challenge and this one is a colour challenge.

I just love these colours together.  Next week my Dad turns 85!  He is one of the most kind, wonderful and thoughtful men that I know and feel so lucky to have been raised by him and still have him in my life.  Although you may say that these are not really masculine colours, the message is clear.  My Dad is my biggest advocate and I know he will love it.

After stamping the focal panel I ran it through my Cuttlebug with Papertrey Ink's Diagonal Stripes Impression Plate.  Then I added a piece of red polka dot washi tape and a couple of hearts that were stamped and cut out of a piece of white cardstock.

Cardstock:  White, Aqua Mist (Papertrey Ink)
Stamps: Kindness Matters Neat & Tangled)
Ink:  True Black, Pure Poppy, Aqua Mist (PTI)
IP: Diagonal Stripes (PTI)
other: polka dot washi tape, black sharpie, 5/8" circle punch

Papertrey Ink Blog Hop December '12

Today is Boxing Day in Canada.  Boxing Day is a statutory holiday, meaning everyone has the day off work.  It is also the Canadian 'Black Friday", the Boxing Day blowout sales and the best prices as well as the biggest day for retail of the year.  I don't plan on going shopping today, I am pretty much shopped out after Christmas, but my daughter is being picked up by a friend at 8:15 in the morning to hit the mall and find some deals!

It was such a wonderful Christmas this year with time spent with family, good times and good food.  This year we had some good news to celebrate.  My nephew and his wife announced the arrival of their first child this July, I am going to be an aunt again for the 22nd time!  Another nephew and his girlfriend got engaged on Christmas Eve.

So my white on white card for the December Papertrey Blog Hop is for them.

The background is embossed with the Simple Stripes Impression Plate and the two hearts are embossed  in white and adhered to the card with foam tape.

Enjoy the rest of the Hop!

DD #33 & CFC83 & 10 Minutes Craft Dash #9

Here to share a card for this week's Dynamic Duos challenge.
This week we were to create a card using these colours:

Now for the dessert option of music think of the music of firecrackers and the music of
Auld Lang Syne at the stroke of midnight on January 1, 2013.

If you had a chance to read this years Holiday Cards & More you may have seen a card created
by JJ Bolton that used the dandelion head from Papertrey Ink's Botanical Silhouettes as fireworks!  What a brilliant idea, that I used for my card today but embossed with gold embossing power.

I am also adding this card to CAS-ual Fridays Dashing Through the Holidays Challenge and the 10 Minute Craft Dash completing my embossed card in 9 minutes 55 seconds--Whew!
Which kind of goes along with my dash to post at Dynamic Duos with 7 minutes to spare.

Merry Christmas and Happy New Year!

CCC #24 - STAR

It's Tuesday today and we are bringing you the last CASology Cue Word  before Christmas.
This week's word is:

For my card today I stamped each line of the sentiment in a different colour.  On the word joy I left out the 'o' by masking the stamp with scotch tape and stamped a star in it's place which I embossed with clear embossing powder.  The sentiment is very simple leaving lots of white space so I added some twine and adhered the white panel with foam tape to add interest.

Head on over to CASology today to learn what the 'cue card' means to you, how you can play along and see the all the cards created by the Design Team to inspire you.

Don`t forget to visit the blogs of the other members of the Design Team:
Tracey McNeely (that`s me)
