Happy Birthday Darnell!

IMG_5483

Happy Birthday to my dear friend both on and off of blogland Darnell!
You are just the sweetest and true person who is adored by so many!

If I was in high school again I would wish to sit at the cool table with the popular girl at school Miss Darnell!  I was so happy when Blogger introduced the 'jump to comment' button because my poor scrolling finger would get so tired traveling to the bottom--LOL

Darnell is always there to leave sweet and thoughtful comments on everyone's blogs and she has so often been there for me off camera to check in and see how I am doing and to let me know that if I ever need anything to let her know.  She is a rare gem who always has a laugh for us on her blog and I am so truly thankful to be able to call you--friend!

Bev and Ardyth organized a birthday blog hop for Darnell and Bev is hosting the party HERE and Ardyth is hosting the link up HERE which is staying open for two weeks!  Now since Bev more than covered the cakes for Darnell, I am setting out a tray of Birthday Cake Martini's!  Enjoy your blog hop Darnell and all of the love that is being sent your way!

I used inspiration from The Cutting Edge Challenge #1 for my card. I chose a die cut popsicle and large speech bubble inspired by the large star and sentiment die cuts from the inspiration photo. I also used the sketch from CAS(E) this Sketch #82 when creating Darnell's card.

Teacher Gifts

cover1

My kids do not do teacher gifts anymore. In University it would be considered a bribe in high school it isn't really done, at least not as a senior.  I wish that all the awesome school themed stamps and designs were available when my kids were small and we were doing teacher gifts for all the teachers.

My daughter, however, did a two credit co-op this past semester in a JK/SK class as she wants to follow in my footsteps and be a teacher. Last week on her last day, "Miss Brooklyn" came home with 25 handmade cards from her students.  She will never throw them away, I know that. Yesterday was the SK graduation so she went back for the festivities and wanted to take a gift for the teachers she worked with as well as the SERT and the EA. We had planned on making sets of thank you card for each, but Brooklyn decided that she would like to give each of them some of my cards (since I have so many of them). So she selected an assortment of birthday, thank you, sympathy, all occasion and get well cards. We packaged them up along with envelopes in glassine bags, tied them with bakers twine and created thank you tags for the fronts.

Happy Birthday Sandie and Reverse Confetti May Color Challenge

cover

Yay it's Friday! Today is also Sandie from London Days birthday!
Nonni and Lynn are having a birthday linky party for you today and I am so thrilled to be participating in it for you.  You have always been such a sweet and supportive bloggie friend. I love how through the difficulties we both face we were able to connect last year. I hope that you have a fabulous birthday today and a wonderful year ahead my friend. I made a card for you using the these fabulous colours from the May Reverse Confetti Color Challenge.

I can't get enough of the new Let's Chill stamps and dies and got to work on my white popsicles with some ink blending.  I didn't have enough foam daubbers so I used triangular make up sponges. Starting from the bottom I inked in orange, then moved on to the dark pink then light pink.  I went back over where to colours met first with the darker shade and then the lighter shade.

Reverse Confetti SFYTT #8

IMG_3535

Happy Monday!
Hope you had a lovely weekend. On this front we had another milestone. My son turned 19 on Sunday. I guess he is a full fledged adult now. I've said it before but where did the time go. It was strange not to see him on his birthday, but we did talk to him a couple times. Apparently he celebrated his birthday last night with friends and since he is 19 he can legally have a drink in Canada. Big head today. LOL

I have a card for the current Reverse Confetti Sketch For You To Try.
