Happy Saturday Friends!
I can't believe I am actually posting a card that I didn't make for a commitment! I need to start building up my stash of birthday cards. I don't know how my supply of cards got down so low. I seem to always have something to do that doesn't involve crafting! With our daughter's wedding coming up in July there always seems to be something that needs attention or doing.
This past Mother's Day. My husband and I were on our way home from visiting both our mother's heading northbound. A car travelling southbound made a left hand turn right in front of us, he apparently did not see us. We were travelling about 80 km, or 50 mph, and it was quite a crash.
Our truck actually flipped the other truck on to it's side!
Fortunately everyone walked away from the accident. The paramedics checked me, my husband and even little Jax out. I had some abrasions from the seatbelt but after a couple days I wasn't feeling right and went to my local hospital to be checked again. I had three fractured ribs. I am much better now 7 weeks later, it's still a bit tender but overall better.
When something like this happens, you really appreciate how vehicles today are built for safety. The front of my husband's almost brand new truck was crushed but inside the cab, other than that all the airbags were deployed, the space was still intact. The truck was written off. Jax had been on my lap but headed to the back just before it happened, so grateful! We are getting a barrier to keep him in the backseat moving forward. Animals like children are not safe in the front.
If you have even been in a car where the airbags have been set off you know that it's intense.
Time to move on, I think writing this post has been therapeutic for me! Thanks for listening.
So today I made a birthday card for Seize the Birthday using the new to me Spellbinders Pink Lemonade Stand dies. Taking a page from my friend Nancy Leppek I made the easel a shaped card cutting in on the top of a folded 5 1/2" x 4 1/4" card base.
The extra topping this week is to add vellum or acetate sheets. I used vellum for my pitcher and glass. Lots of tiny pieces but it was fun to make.

I added a pink of ink to my die cuts, a bit extra pink on the pinks, darker yellow on the lemon and darker green on the leaves. A bit hard to see.
The white embossed Happy Birthday is a sentiment from Honey Bee Stamps Birthday Wishes.
There are so many possibilities with this die set. I love how the frame has all the woodgrain details!
This card is for Seize the Birthday #328!
Thanks for popping in and enjoy the rest of your weekend!.

Your card is adorable. Sorry to hear you were hurt, but glad not too serious. Hope you are better each day.
Oh, Tracey. I knew there had been an accident, but I had no idea how awful it was! The broken ribs must have been extremely painful, but you were so lucky that neither of you were more seriously injured. I do remember how busy I was before my daughter's wedding. I was still working full-time ,and she was married on Memorial Day weekend. It was a circus some days. So much on your plate! Your card is wonderful, and I'm pinning it for inspiration! That set of dies just arrived last week, but it may be awhile before I get to it.
Okay, love your pink lemonade card, it's adorable. But now... HOLY SMOKES to the accident! How frightening that must have been for you both. Thanks be to God everyone is ok! Sending you a big hug <3
I’m so glad you were all ok following that horrific crash, how awful for you. I’m also glad you’ve made another sweet card to share with us, that set is adorable, I’m thirsty for a glass of lemonade now 😃xx
Oh, Tracey, I'm so sorry to hear about your accident and very thankful that your injuries weren't much, much worse - for you two and Jax! And I'm thankful you were in a modern well-built vehicle!
Fractured ribs are so painful. I'm sending tender hugs that you continue to heal and have no long-term residual problems.
Your easel sunshine birthday card using your NBUS lemonade set is so cheerful! I love the woodgrain easel frame and chalkboard background! Hugs, Darnell
Oh my gosh, Tracey, what a terrible accident. I'm so glad you are all okay except for the ribs. I know they take time to heal so prayers that healing continues. I know planning a wedding takes a lot of time but I'm glad you got to take some time for yourself to make this wonderful card. The woodgrain is fabulous and the lemonade looks yummy. Take care, my friend.
Oh my goodness, Traceey--what a traumatic event! I've never had the airbags deploy, so can only imagine how terrifying it was. So grateful you're all OK. Thank goodness you were in a truck. Glad the ribs are healing--no fun! Totally delightful card that will definitely bring joy to the recipient. Sending a virtual hug which won't hurt your ribs!😄❤️
Oh, Tracey! What a horrible accident - I'm so happy to hear you're okay but know that broken ribs are no fun at all so take it easy. I also know first-hand how bad those airbags sting but thank God we had them, right?
I sure enjoy an iced glass of pink lemonade with you on the patio! This is SO cute!
xx
What a lovely card Tracy. Love the vellum for the pitcher and glass. Wow, I am glad no one was seriously hurt in the accident and glad you went to see about your fractured ribs and that you are better and able to craft.
Oops, forgot to say Thanks for sharing your card with us at Seize the Birthday.
That is a pretty frame and I love the shaped card, Tracey! The added inking adds wonderful dimension to everything! I'm so glad you are healing. How scary for you!
Tracey, so glad to read you are alright. That must have been horrifying as it happened. YOur card is absolutely delightful. What a cute design idea.
Seeing those pics again just really breaks my heart all over again. I am so thankful you and James were not more seriously hurt. I am so glad you went and got checked out and are feeling so much better now. It was a scary time and I was really worried about your both! As for your delightful, Pink Lemonade card. I adore it. You know how much I love this set and you have done an incredible job with it. Everything is laid out so perfectly and I love that the lemonade is Pink, my preference! So thrilled to have this beauty in our gallery at Seize the Birthday! Sending hugs too!!
