Hi there crafty friends, it's Tracey and I'm back on the Lunar New Year Challenge blog today sharing my January card. The challenge is taking a break and this will be my final card. The past couple of years this has been a fun and really different challenge and has pushed me to really think about what I'm making. Thank you to my friend Emily Leiphart for all her hard work running the challenge and for all her support!
This month we have 6 of our sponsors from 2025 celebrating with us by sponsoring this challenge, so we hope you are ready to participate!
The Year of the Horse starts on February 17th so for my final card I wanted to use the new Spellbinders Good Fortune Horse which is set off by my bold colour palette! The card features Concord & 9th cardstock in Poppy, Eggplant and a sheet of Almond from the Naturals collection.
The sentiment from Good Fortune Horse was gold embossed on the red Poppy panel. The panel was adhered to the white card base with foam tape and set aside while I put the horse together.
The horses mane, tail and saddle were all cut from gold mirror cardstock. I assembled the horse and I have to say the design of the die cuts are so well thought out. It came together brilliantly! I adhered the horse to the card front with thin foam squares for a bit of extra dimension.
The coins on the ground in front of the horse are from Lawn Fawn's How You Bean? Money Add-On. I stamped and cut some of the coins and then coloured them with the Copic markers:
Y11, Y13, Y15 & Y17

It’s a bittersweet moment seeing your final card for this challenge, Tracey! You really went out on a high note that "Good Fortune Horse" looks incredibly striking against the Poppy and Eggplant cardstock. The gold mirror cardstock for the mane and saddle gives it such a regal feel, perfectly fitting for the Year of the Horse. It’s been so fun following your Lunar New Year creations; they always have such a clean, bold look. I just shared a new post you are invited to read.
This is gorgeous Tracey!
A real beauty !!!!
Oh, I love this fancy horse! The gold accents and regal colors really set this off. Fabulous card, Tracey!
