Sunflowers

Hi there friends, I'm sorry I have not been around much this summer.

There has been so much going on in my little corner of the world and it's keeping me out of my craft room. My daughter applied for and accepted a job transfer to Ottawa. So instead of being 5 hours away from me now she is only 4 1/2! The move was big, how she managed to accumulate so much furniture in 2 years of living on her own, I don't know--lol! However she and her boyfriend of 5 years have a lovely and cute condo in Ottawa and she hasn't stopped smiling.

My generation are seeing our parents live well into their 80's and 90's, mine are 91 or 94 as so lucky to have one another. They prefer live in their own home which is wonderful but also concerning for the family. My father has been in the hospital the last three weeks with pneumonia but he rallied back and his chest is clear and he has come home with some restrictions. A nurse twice a day and my mom looking after him. Lots of time checking in on them, setting up schedules and lots and lots of hours of phone calls and being on hold. Really busy times but it's my turn to look after them.

So crafting has taken a bit of a backseat but not forgotten!

I used the Crafter's Companion Sumptuous Sunflowers Embossing folder with four different white core pieces of cardstock. After I embossed them I sanded them lightly with my Tim Holtz Sanding Block I have had for years. I love how they turned out simply embossed and lightly sanded to bring the white core to the surface giving a very organic vibe.

They looked so good I simply attached them to a card base, added a sentiment from Waffle Flower and there they are--done! Easy Peasy!

Color Hues Challenge #47

Hi there is time for some chocolate mint ice cream...my favourite!
Oooops!

Sorry it's time for a new color duo at the Color Hues Color Challenge #47 and our colors are chocolate and mint! LOL

I used the Concord & 9th Love You More stamps and dies for the first time. It's such a fun set with so many options. I made my own mint and chocolate cardstock using my Catherine Pooler In The Park and Icing on the Cake ink pads.

My heart background was made by embossing the Studio Katia Scattered Hearts stencil on white cardstock. I wish the camera showed it off a bit more because it looks great.

The centre panel  and the ice cream cone was popped up with foam tape.

I am also linking this up to Happy Little Stampers!

Please visit the Color Hues Challenge Page to see what my amazing teammates have made for this delicious colour combination!!

Thanks for stopping by!

Layering Stencils with the Stencils 360

When I had the Stencils 360 tool out I created this background using two of the stencils that are from the Penguin Palace Fancy Gift Box stencil set. I used one of the large 6" stencils to make the blue green background by first stenciling the blue using the solid triangle which is 45 degrees. Then I used the open triangle and stenciled the green.. I popped out the stencil and changed to the 4" guide ring and stenciled the rainbow bow in the centre. This made it a one layer card.
Perfect for mailing!

I finished it off with a sentiment from Waffle Flower Crafts Essential Sentiments.
Thanks for stopping by, have a great day!

Color Hues Color Challenge #46

 Hi there friends!
It's time for another color duo at the Color Hues Color Challenge #46!

This weeks colour duo was chosen by Design Team Member Lindsey Martin-Penny. Lindsey sadly lost her battle against stage 4 ovarian cancer. She wasn't just a blogging friend she was a real life friend too, we lived only 45 minutes apart, and she leaves a huge hole in my heart and all of the team at both the Color Hues and Seize the Birthday. We have decided this challenge to celebrate Lindsey and the colours she chose by making cards themed to things that she loved. We are also doing this challenge with our crafty sisters at Seize the Birthday.

Friendships were very important to Lindsey and she was always quick to send a card for encouragement or simply just to say hello! I made a card in this challenge's colours using the Concord & 9th Brighter Days stamp set and dies. It is so fun to create custom rainbows in any colour you like. I used Catherine Pooler Inks because they fill in so beautifully!

The panel was popped up with foam tape and the cloud and centre heart are as well.

Great colours and design to send to a friend who could use some cheering up.
