Mondo Pansy - Just because

Hi there friends!

Things have been a little quiet on the blog, but not so much in real life.

My daughter was offered a full time job teaching kindergarten in Quebec a couple weeks ago which she accepted. She needed a place to live and also be there in 5 days.  It all came together and we moved her last weekend and took a second load to her yesterday! She has so much stuff!
A 10 hour round trip two weekends in a row!

So when we got back last night you would think I would head straight to bed but instead I finally used my Essentials by Ellen Mondo Pansy along with some more swinking for the #swinkingchallenge.

I white embossed the Mondo Pansy on to a panel of Bristol Smooth cardstock. Using Catherine Pooler Inks It's A Girl, Bellini, Tiara, Garden Party and Fiesta Blue. I swinked across the page diagonally in rainbow order using the direct to paper method. I let it dry and then added the sentiment in black from the same stamp set.

Now I can go and be exhausted.

Have a great week ahead!

Out Challenge #168

I have a card today for Time Out Challenge #168!

I haven't played the challenge in quite some time but as soon as I saw the inspiration photo I knew exactly what I wanted to use for my card. I used the Pretty Pink Posh Beach Scene die to create...my beach scene!

All my pieces inside the circle die were ink blended with Distress Oxide inks.  The sentiment is from the Pretty Pink Posh Happy Summer die and 'Birthday Wishes' embossed in white is from the My Favorite Things Bitty Birthday Wishes stamp set.

I also did some 'Swinking' on my background!
I used Catherine Pooler Inks to Swink--Garden Party and It`s a Boy. I swept the colours across my acrylic block and them misted with water and put the block down on a piece of watercolour paper. I spritzed the panel with Imagine Crafts Shimmer Spritz.

What is swinking?

Swinking is a word made up by my friend Laurel Beard. Laurel and Ardyth Percy-Robb have a Swinking Challenge going on right now

Head over to one or both of there blogs to learn all about swinking!

Thanks for dropping by!

String Art Hugs

Happy Friday!

Lots going on here this weekend. Tomorrow we are moving my daughter to Québec where she is starting her first teaching job on Tuesday. She has been away at University for 5 years now, but here was still home. Home for the holidays, home for the summers, home for a break--just home.

We are so proud of her, but my baby is leaving the nest and I'm struggling with it a little bit. So, I'm taking a deep breath and have to trust that I've done my job and prepared her for the world. I am very thankful she is heading off to teach kindergarten in a small community that is relatively safe, as anywhere can be these days with Covid.

Anyway lets get to why you are here.
I have a post up on the Birch Press Design blog today. Full details about my card are over on the Birch Press Design blog and I  hope you have a chance to visit and say hello!

Thanks for stopping by.

MFT Stamps - Summer School 2020

My Favorite Things is hosting Summer School 2020!
The lesson for Day 1 is the Visual Triangle

I used the now retired Just Beclaws Stamp set and matching Die-namics. The beach was created with Distress Oxide Inks, the Hillside Stencil and a bit of masking.

The lesson for Day 2 was creating a Rainbow.

My rainbow of frappe cups was created with the Mini Cafe All Day Die-namics set.

The lesson for Symmetry.

Baby Shark was calling my name for this one...
Baby Shark Doo Doo Doo Doo Doo Doo!
The background was created with Distress Oxide Inks.

The lesson for Ombré effect.

I chose to do a full panel ombré with pink Distress Oxide Inks and cut the panel with the Big Birthday Wishes Cover die.

The lesson for Day 5 was White Space.

If you have been following me for a while you know that this is my favourite design. Lots of room on my card designs makes me happy! I used one cupcake from All the Cupcakes tilted on an angle for interest.

So yes close to the deadline but I did it, 5 days of homework complete.
I haven't felt much like being creative lately so it really felt good to push myself and get this completed.

My family, my two children and their significant others are going to be here this weekend to celebrate our 30th Wedding Anniversary which is next week.

Thanks for stopping in today and have a wonderful weekend.

How to Easily Fix the Challenges of Slimline cards

tracey_Craftyhugs_zoom1

Slimline cards are such a popular trend right now, but along with anything new or different come challenges. Today I am sharing a slimline card tutorial and video (coming later) on the  Studio Katia blog. I am tackling some of the challenges that I have found with these fun and trendy designs. So my post today is a little bit different. I am going to discuss SIX challenges I have found and offer some solutions as I create today`s card.

Here is a sneak of my card and I hope you have a chance to head over to Studio Katia and check out my post and let me know if you have faced similar challenges or it you have others I didn't think of?
