Autumn Days

Hi there, it's that time again when the team at the 12 Kits of Occasions share what we made with out monthly kits. One person on the team of 12 makes a kit and sends it out to the whole team to create with. We are all using the same supplies, but we always each come out with cards that are so different. There are times when cards actually come out very similar too--lol!  Sharron Gregory, On Papillon Wings was our hostess this month and did she ever send each of us a beautiful kit full of gorgeous papers, unique die cuts and stamped images to play with!

I was able to make four cards for this month!

Jack O Lantern

tracey_jackolantern

I am up on the A Jillian Vance Design blog today with one more spooky Halloween card! I created my pumpkin using the Autumn Pumpkins stamp set by clear embossing the large pumpkin image on watercolour cardstock and then colouring the pumpkin and the wine with Distress Inks. I used Carved Pumpkin and Peeled Paint. The pumpkin was set aside to dry.

To prepare my background I ink blended some Distress Oxide inks onto a panel of Bristol Smooth cardstock. I used Wilted Violet, Blueprint Sketch, Chipped Sapphire and Black Soot! Once it had my blending done I covered the whole panel with Nuvo Glimmer Paste in Moonstone. The panel was set aside to dry. The glimmer paste over the background picked the most gorgeous iridescent colours, perfect for Halloween!

The sentiment from the Happy Halloween stamp set was white embossed onto a small sentiment strip from the Instant Photo Frame die set that I die cut with yellow cardstock. Once the pumpkin was dry I fussy cut it and then I die cut the pumpkin face from the Perfect Pumpkin die set with black cardstock.  To finish it off I glued the face on to my pumpkin with A Jillian Vance Design Just Glue It crystal clear adhesive. The pumpkin was adhered to the background with foam tape to give it a bit of dimension!

Mighty Oak

tracey_MondoOak_wccloseup

I finally had a chance to play with the Ellen Hutson Mondo Oak stamp set!
I just love the great big leaf, it just begs to be ink blended!

tracey_MondoOakset

I blended the big oak leaf with Distress Oxide Inks--Squeezed Lemonade, Wild  Honey, Spice Marmalade and Ripe Persimmon. After the panel was dry I stamped, clear embossed and die cut it using the co-ordinating die!

This next one has a bit more texture. I smooshed a panel of watercolour paper into the same colours of Distress Oxide Inks that were lightly spritzed with water. Once it was dry I also stamped, clear embossed and die cut it using the co-ordinating die! The same colours, a it different technique and they both turned out very different!

FALL for You

tracey_Fall

I have been on a bit of a roll lately with fall cards, normally fall passes by my far too quickly but not this year! Since I have moved to my new home in the north summer rolls into fall that rolls very quickly into winter. The past two winters we have had lasting snow on the ground right after the Canadian Thanksgiving. This year our thanksgiving was almost a week later than it usually is and we are overall a bit warmer! Keeping my fingers crossed that this will be a bit more long lasting!

I am up on the A Jillian Vance Design blog today with another fall card!  I used the A Jillian Vance Design Grand Leaf Trio for my leaves today, I love the stitched detail and once again I inked them up with Distress Oxides inks in two to three colours. They were set in a scene with a white card base covered with a white checkerboard cover plate cut. The sentiment was created with the Headline Type Alphabet die set cut from gold sparkle cardstock. The second line is from the Autumn Pumpkin stamp set, gold pearl embossed on black cardstock and then cut with the fishtail die from the Instant Photo die set! I love it when a card just 'FALLS' together--lol!

I had a blast using products from both of these companies together. My first card is a triple embossed Christmas card. I used the Quatrefoil Cover Plate die, the Merry Mistletoe die set and the Elegant Christmas stamp set from A Jillian Vance Design to create this sparkly Christmas card. I die cut the Quatrefoil cover plate from white cardstock and adhered it to a white top folding card base.

tracey_mistletoe_wowhop

To make the mistletoe I die cut the three separate sprigs of the mistletoe and the big bow also from white cardstock. I completely cover the die cuts with VersaMark ink and embossed with the WOW Confetti Trio embossing powders in the Fizz and Bang. The mistletoe was glued to the card base on an angle. Then I stamped the word joy from the Elegant Christmas stamp set with VersaMark ink and embossed it with WOW Gold Pearl embossing powder on white cardstock. I fussy cut the word and added it to the card base in the lower right corner of the card. The confetti mixed in the the embossing powder looks just like snow on the mistletoe just from the melted embossing powder!

My second card with made using the A Jillian Vance Design Elegant Christmas stamp set and WOW Gold Pearl embossing powder.

tracey_thankful_wowhop

The background was ink blended with Scattered Straw and Fossilized Amber Distress Oxide Inks. I replaced all the applicators on my mini foam blending tools with the new Scrapbook.com domed foam applicators! What a game changer these are for me--I love them so far! I flicked a bit of clean water onto the panel and set it aside to dry completely. Once dry I stamped the trio of pumpkins from the A Jillian Vance Design Autumn Pumpkins stamp set with VersaFine ink the I did a bit of stamp surgery and cut the work Thankful from the set and also stamped with VersaFine ink. Then I embossed the whole panel with WOW Gold Pearl embossing powder!

Thank you so much for stopping in today for the hop. Don't forget to comment. The next stop of the hop is Verity Biddlecombe, happy hopping!

Always Be-leaf in You

Happy Thanksgiving from Canada! Last weekend was Thanksgiving north of the border!  We have had a spectacular show of leaves this year and they were absolutely peaking this past weekend. To top it off we had the most beautiful weather. I have my daughter home for her fall reading week, her boyfriend came in from Ottawa, my son and his girlfriend came up from Toronto and on Sunday my husbands mom and brothers came for dinner. It was so busy and so much fun all at the same time!

I love everything about fall and today I have a card to share today on the A Jillian Vance Design blog!

IMG_5095

I die cut the leaves and then did some ink blending with Distress Oxide inks to mimic the leaves that are on the ground all over my property. Shades of green, brown, yellow, orange and red. Just so beautiful. After blending my paper leaves I adhered the leaves to the bottom of a Neenah Dessert Storm card base. Then a sentiment from the Be-Leaf in Yourself stamp set was added to the top left of the card base. I blended a bit of Gathered Twigs Distress Ink around the edges of the card base to bring in some warmth. Finally I flicked some Gansai Tambi Champagne Gold watercolour over the entire card to finish it off.

I hope that fall is beautiful where you are too!

Turkey with Gratitude

tracey_turkey_top

I am up on the Birch Press Design blog today with a Thanksgiving card and video tutorial. Thanksgiving is this coming weekend in Canada and I had a few more cards I wanted to get done. I used the Regal Peacock Layering die set to create my turkey who has his head down to the ground picking away at yummy things the grass.

tracey_turkey_feature

My colour scheme used black, dark brown, light brown and gold sparkle paper to be more realistic for a wild turkey. Turkeys are omnivores and will readily eat many types foods. We have several oak trees at the front of out house which stand at least a 100' tall and are dropping tons of acorns! Every part of the lawn is covered in acorns no more that a couple inches apart!

...and look at the visitors I had at my house just to feast on them the other day!

If you have some time I'd love you to pop over to Birch Press Design to say hello!
Thanks for stopping in today!

BOO

tracey_boo

I am up on the at A Jillian Vance Design blog today with a really quick and easy Halloween card using the brand new Vertical Pinstripe Cover Plate die and the Headline Alphabet!

I cut the Vertical Pinstripe Cover Plate Die from a piece of black cardstock and set it aside. Next I created a panel from Bristol Smooth cardstock hat was ink blended with Twisted Citron and Mowed Lawn Distress Oxide Inks. The panel was cut down to 5 18" x 3 15/16"  so that it will fit behind the black Vertical Pinstripe die cut. A second smaller piece of Bristol Smooth was also inked from Twisted Citron and Mowed Lawn Distress Oxide Inks. I used the Headline Alphabet to cut the letters to spell BOO from the small green blended piece and I cut the letters two more time with white cardstock. The letters were stacked together with the green on top with liquid glue. I attached the Vertical Pinstripe piece to the larger ink blended panel with liquid glue and then once dry the whole piece was attached to a white top folding card base measuring 5 1/2" x 4 1/4". The letters were then added to finish off the card in the bottom right of the panel!

Undercover Tech Week - Quatrefoil Cover Die and a Giveaway

tracey_quatre

This week is Tech Week at A Jillian Vance Design!
The theme of this release is Undercover!

Today I am introducing the gorgeous brand new Quatrefoil Cover Plate die! This die has so much lovely detail with the two sizes of quatrefoil shapes.

For my card today I used the Elegant Christmas stamp set to stamp and watercolour the poinsettia image. The image was stamped and clear embossed with Versafine Onyx black ink on to a panel of watercolour paper. I watercoloured the image with pan watercolours and a waterbrush. I used the waterbrush to wet the inside of the wells created from the embossing one small section at a time. Then I added the colour to the well and used the waterbrush to move it around. I set the panel aside to dry.

While the panel was drying I used the Quatrefoil Cover Plate to cut a panel of white sparkle cardstock. I used the A Jillian Vance Design Just Glue It liquid adhesive to adhere the shimmery quatrefoil piece to my top folding A2 sized white card base.

Once the watercolour poinsettia was completely dry I fussy cut the poinsettia using sharp detail scissors right along the edge of the embossing lines. I added the poinsettia over the quatrefoil piece with foam tape for dimension. I finished off the card on the inside with a sentiment from the Merry KISSmas stamp set stamped in black!
