This weeks Make It Monday video at Papertrey Ink was done by Dawn McVey.  Dawn has a way to make crafting look so easy.  I created three cards for this weeks challenge.  One is super simple, one stepped up a little and one is stepped up a lot.  I created this card HERE back in April using the same technique and dies for colourQ #134 and then this week I stepped it up a lot.

RS #17

I think I have strawberries on my mind these days.  I have made 4 of my strawberry cheesecakes (recipe post) in the last week. The most recent cheesecake was made to thank a teacher to thank her for all her hard work.  Of course along with that there needs to be a card.  I played along with the Retro Sketches challenge again this week.

CAS-ual Fridays #58: Pretty in Pink & MIM # 71: Bordered Sentiments

This weeks CAS-ual Fridays challenge is to make a project featuring pink and Make It Monday was to use masking to create a project with a bordered sentiment.  I combined the two challenges.  Stamping isn't as forgiving as cutting paper, when I was adhering my panel to the card base I noticed that I had a Sweet Blush smudge on the upper right hand corner.  So I covered it with another flower, great way to hide a mistake, but the card ended up busier than I originally planned.

All Supplies are from Papertrey Ink unless otherwise noted:

Cardstock: White, Sweet Blush, Sweet Blush Bitty Dots
Stamps: Sending You, Think Big Favorite #15
Ink: Sweet Blush, Raspberry Fizz, Simply Chartreuse (PTI), Tuxedo Black Memento (Tsukineko)

colourQ challenge #142

This weeks colourQ palette was inspired by a cute geometric purse that I would love to have.  It seems that you don't ever have a "Welcome to the Neighborhood" card on hand when you need it.  I translated the colours to PTI as Summer Sunrise, Berry Sorbet, Aqua Mist and Blueberry Sky.  I added my sentiment first and then placed each of the colours behind the window panes of the die cut window.  The frame was popped up with foam dots.  I can't seem to make a card these days without dimension.

All Supplies are from Papertrey Ink unless otherwise noted:

Cardstock: White, Summer Sunrise, Berry Sorbet, Aqua Mist, Blueberry Sky
Stamps: Home Made
Ink: Tuxedo Black Memento (Tsukineko)
Dies: Grand Maison Window (Poppystamps)

The summer issue of Scrapbook and Cards Today was released yesterday.  For those of you who are unfamiliar with SCT it is a Canadian magazine that is publish four times a year.  It is a free publication available at scrapbook stores.  You can also get a subscription to have it mailed to you or you can read in PDF here for free.  Love love love this magazine.  Great ideas and a great blog as well.

RS #16

To say I was challenged with this weeks RetroSketch would be an understatement.  N@Ali was the Guest Designer this week with a sketch based on THIS card.  Both her original and her redo were so fabulous and creative.  I pulled out my Flower Fusion dies and stamps to create my 5" square card with a 4 1/4" mat.  I added dimension to the white panel with foam tape and popped some of the flowers with foam dots.

Stamps: Flower Fusion series
Ink: Raspberry Fizz, Harvest Gold, Lemon Tart, Winter Wisteria, Sweet Blush,
Pure Poppy, Summer Sunrise, Aqua Mist, Blueberry Sky

We have about a 3 weeks strawberry season in Ontario.  Although these days you can get strawberries all year from around the world there is nothing like fresh Ontario berries.  During this season I make as many strawberry cheesecakes as I can.  My husband said that this is what he married me for...really?  I thought I would share this yummy recipe that I am sure is low cal.  Enjoy you won't be disappointed.

CREAMY STRAWBERRY CHEESECAKE

2 cups graham crumbs
½ cup margarine; melted
1 pkg cream cheese
¾ cup icing sugar
½ orange juice
1 pkg dessert topping

Combine crumbs and margarine and press into a 9 x 13" pan.  Bake 350 for 8 minutes.  Cool.  Cream together the next three ingredients.  Prepare dessert topping and then fold into the cream cheese mixture.  Chill.  Top with fresh strawberries.

CAS-ual Fridays CFC #57 & Dynamic Duos #7

Things are crazy in our house this week with both my kids writing final exams.  On top of that my daughter sprained her ankle last weekend at her soccer tournament when she went head to head with the goalie on the other team and took the full force of the kick on her ankle.   On crutches but no break.  My son was at rugby tryouts for Team Ontario and realized that although his mono is gone, he is not fully recovered and spent half of the tryout with the medics.  Lets just say that Mom is stressed dealing with their stress.

On to things that make me happy.  I combined CAS-ual Fridays and Dynamic Duos this week.  The CAS-ual Fridays challenge was to create a clean and simple project that uses either acetate or vellum and Dynamic Duos was to create a project using the colours Melon Mambo with Basic Black.  I created a card using the Duos colours and die cut a second butterfly using white polka dotted vellum for CAS-ual Fridays.

RS #15 & colourQ #141 - card 2

My Dad loves to fish at the cottage.  Now of course anything he catches goes right back into the lake. Sometimes I think he just puts his line in the water without a lure.  He taught both my kids how to fish, these photos were taken in 2004.

This is my last Father's Day card done.  I have to say that Melissa Bickford's World's Greatest Stamp set has gotten lots of use this spring.  Doesn't it make you happy when you get a stamp set and then actually get your money's worth out of it.  I snapped the photo just as the sun was setting, there really is not a glare on the stickers.  This card is being posted for RetroSketches this week and using the colours from colourQ one more time.

Stamps: World's Greatest
Ink: Blueberry Sky, Simply Chartreuse

CAS-ual Fridays Challenge #56 & Dynamic Duos #6

The CAS-ual Fridays challenge this week was to create a Clean & Simple project that featured polka dots.  I decided to use my Cuttlebug large polka dot embossing folder and some polka dot stamping on the cup labels.  I combined this challenge with the colours from this weeks Dynamic Duos.  The lighting was terrible for pictures today--it has to rain sometimes.  :)
