I went through my cards and posts and reflected on the past year and pulled two cards that I created for the Papertrey Blog Hop on May 25 2011. See the original post HERE. I decided to put a Valentines spin on my new cards--I love pink.
The next two cards are my original cards from the May Blog Hop.
I chose Sweet Blush, Raspberry Fizz and Hibiscus Burst from Papertrey for my colour palette. Each layer is bumped up with foam dots--loving these lately.
When I was making this next card I had the flower with the Hibiscus Burst Flowers on the left (outside) of the card. It didn't look quite right and I started thinking that I had the colours wrong--Raspberry Fizz and Hibiscus Burst are very close. My 17 year old son is a very good artist and has a very keen eye for design. He was walking by and I asked him to look at my card and discussed that maybe the colours weren't right. He looked and was very quiet, then swapped the Hibiscus Burst and Raspberry Fizz flowers and then it just looked right! He said now it had radial perspective. Off he went, love that kid.
All Supplies are from Papertrey Ink unless otherwise noted:
Cardstock: White, Sweet Blush, Raspberry Fizz, Hibiscus Burst
Stamps: Sending You, Love & Marriage, Flower Fusion #6
Dies: Beautiful Blooms II #1, Heart Prints
Ink: Raspberry Fizz, Spring Moss, Tuxedo Black (Memento)
other: foam dots
I can't forget what my daughter completed for geography Monday night. We are at the end of semester 1 and heading into exams. So stress levels are high, especially for her as this is her first run at exams. So her ISU was to create a trip across Canada. We have done this trip over two trips so she had a lot of personal input. A job well done.

I remember those cards, and I loved them! Love the new cards too - so lovely. Simple but beautiful. ;-) Love the story about your son - I wish I had one of those around sometimes to give me input on my cards, LOL! Great job on your cards, Tracey. ;-)
Your daughter's report looks great - good luck to her with her exams!!

Oh, Tracey, what a great duo of kids you have! What a blessing to have your son edit your work. I love the original you did and the added heart in the second. ;)
Gorgeous cards Tracey and isn't it great that your son can contribute! Those pinks do look lovely together. That looked like an amazing trip.
Love both Tracey! I love your new idea to use the hearts on the flowers this time. Tool smart! Love the pink and fresh look of all your cards! Your making me want to order way to many things, from PTI.

Love the addition of the hearts on the flowers and the bright pink colour scheme.

What cute Valentines Tracey! Love the layers of hearts and blooms, very creative!!
I just love how you recreated your cards with the Valentines theme! The hearts layered over those flowers are perfect! And I'm loving all that dimension, too!
These are all SO nice! I love the stem with the blooms. It shows how versatile they are. I really like the sentiments too. Great cards!
Wow--you did a fantastic job with those two cards. I have no idea what your son said, but he sounds like quite the artist, because those cards are wonderful. I love the little hearts in the flower. Your daughter's project looks great too--A+. P.S. You are welcome to come by any time and play with my embossing folders, and any of my other toys as well!
Beautiful - I love the hearts on the "new" flowers.
Oh Tracey--I can see why you picked this favorite: it's darling! I loved the original card set, and the new one is even better!!! Love the colors and the layering, as well as the sweet simplicity of both projects!
Really pretty. How fun to have a son who can help you out!
such wonderful cards! I really love the colors - so fresh and clean with just a little pop of black in the sentiments. great job!
Love that you turned your card into such a sweet Valentine:) So cute!
All of your cards are just stunning! I love a good case card. And the hearts on the flowers - going to steal it. Thanks!
LOVE all your cards; envious I don't have your son nearby to give me 'constructive criticism' and such excellent advice -- mine would if near, but he's several states away, sadly! See that your DD is quite talented too; sure she'll do very well with her exams!!!
So sweet! Loved your use of Flower Fusion!
These are so pretty, love the hearts for the centers of the flowers!
Such beautiful cards! All of them! I have to chuckle at the fact that your 17 year old son gave you such good advice. I ask my dear hubby all the time. There is something about a male's opinion which always helps. Thanks for sharing!
Beautiful cards! Love the heart used in the center of them.
Great job! Love how you turned them into Valentine cards.
Good luck to your daughter too. Her report looks great.
I love your use of Sending You, what a great idea!

Enjoyed looking at all your cards!! They are super cute. That die set and stamp set are my first "go to" choice alot of the time. I like your daughter's project as well : ) Great job
My goodness, these are all wonderful Tracey. Great inspiration for cards in the future.
Gorgeous cards, love the heart centres!
First - how COOL that you've managed to travel across Canada!! My hubby wants to do this in retirement - we'll see if we manage! I think it would be awesome (except the prairies... I've spent too many hours staring at the Saskatchewan horizon...). NEAT!
I LOVE your cards... I love the flowers with the heart centers - TOTALLY stealing that idea!! Your son has a great eye, those two flowers work perfectly!!
I love your together forever card with fab heart flowers - they really pop.
I loooove the little hearts additions!! That looks so pretty! Gorgeous cards and especially the one with the two flowers together, I love it so much! I can see why you picked those cards to be inspired with!

Lovely work. Great cards and WHAT a clever son! Radical perspective... now we've all learnt something new!
I have had trouble thinking how to use this stamp set and I think you have just given me some great ideas. Thanks. Lesley
What a great card you chose from last year to start with! I absolutely love the colors, then I love that the second ones are perfect for V-day :)

These are adorable! Love the spin-off on the earlier cards, especially the cute heart as your flower centers. Fun!
Tracey, these are awesome! I love all the texture and dimension! :)
I love the originals from last year-espeically the color combo, but the pink with heart centers just makes my little heart smile! I expect to exhaust "Flower Fusion" over the coming year-I have collected all but one set and they are some of my favorites for sure. thanks for the inspiration-I always enjoy seeing your beautiful cards!
