CCC #36 - Winter

Time for another CASology Cue Card, this week's cute is:

Winter Owl from Lawn Fawn is so cute, especially with that very cool scarf (thanks Joyce).  Since the image is quite small and it seemed lost against the white background I decided to add the green Chevron paper as a background and the tree from Trendy Tree Tops as a branch to ground the image.

Head on over to CASology today to learn what the 'cue card' means to you, how you can play along and see the all the cards created by the Design Team to inspire you.

colourQ #171

On January 12th my son will be 18!  I can't believe he is going to be an adult in the eyes of the law, he will be able to vote the next time there is an election, he will now be responsible for being responsible.  If you had asked me a year ago if Ben was ready to become an adult I would told you absolutely not!  In a year I have seen him become more mature, a better brother to his sister, I see him do things and not expect anything in return, I see him care about the future and I see lots more of that wonderful smile.  So using this week's masculine colourQ palette this is the birthday card that I made for him.

We hope that you come a play with us this week at the colourQ and while you are there make sure to visit the blogs of the rest of the Design Team to see their fabulous creations.

MIM #98 - Chalkboard Technique

I couldn't resist it any longer, faux chalkboard cards and projects are everywhere in blogland and Pinterest.  I first saw the technique when Betsy Veldman did a  blog tutorial for Papertrey Ink before Christmas and I said I'll try that once Christmas is over.  Well Christmas was over and I got sick, the events of the last week are a bit of a blur but when I saw that this week's MIM was a video tutorial by Betsy on the technique the time was now.

It was a bit scary for a control freak like me but I was impressed at how easy it actually was to do.  I used Pinefeather for my chalkboard panel.

All Supplies are from Papertrey Ink unless otherwise noted:

Cardstock:  Pure Poppy, Pinefeather
Stamps: With All My Heart, Sending My Love, Heart Prints
Ink:  Fresh Snow
other: white embossing powder, small heart punch

SSCB #2 - Winter Birthday

Joyce isn't the only one with friends in high places.  Design Team member Cathy Webber was sweet enough to send me some images so that I could play along with the second Challenge at the Serendipity Stamps Challenge Blog.  The theme of this challenge is Winter Birthdays.  Through blogging I share both the good and the not so good, this image is so pretty and it reminds me of a cozy cabin in the woods.  At first I wasn't going to colour it, but I did, I think it took something from the image.  I do have a few birthdays this month that this card would be perfect for.

Cardstock:  Vanilla Cream, Dark Chocolate (Papertrey Ink)
Patterned Paper: Fine Linen Patterned Paper Pack (PTI)
Stamps: Snow Shovel, Happy Birthday Simple (Serendipity Stamps)
Ink:  Dark Chcoloate (PTI)
Dies: Labels Four (Spellbinders) Heart border (PTI)

CCC #25 - NEW

Happy New Year!
Welcome to the first challenge of 2013 at CASology!

We have some exciting new changes this year at CSAology, we are welcoming three new members to our existing Design Team.

Joining us are:

Our first Cue Card of the year is:

After I made this first version of my card I added a little more, but after I did I felt the card had lost what I feel is CAS style.  Even though I only added one more layer, which is very acceptable in a CAS card, the added layer along with the patterned paper and the bling ends up a bit cluttered.  I really liked how my 'extended' version of the card turned out so I decided to share it in this post.

Head on over to CASology today to learn what the 'cue card' means to you, how you can play along and see the all the cards created by the Design Team to inspire you.
