The Countdown is on...

Happy Saturday!
I hope that you have a fabulous weekend planned!

There are 18 days left until the move. The house is smelling more and more like cardboard everyday. There is a lot packed but still so much to go. My hubby has been home this week and he works so much faster than I do and is so good at maximizing the space inside a box! However, he leaves again on Sunday and is not back until a couple days before the move.

Saturday after a full day of packing I started to tackle my craft room! You think it won't be too huge of a task until you start. I cut about a dozen white card bases and the essentials are not being packed yet--paper trimmer, my black inks, scrap bin, tape, Copics and stamps. Just so that I can meet a couple deadlines.  Here is my progress so far...

I would love to hear some tips from anyone who has packed up their craft room for a move.  I don't want my precious cargo to get damaged!

Have a great weekend!

Oh how exciting! Thrilled for your family. My only tip would be to put bubble wrap around your white card base card stock so the corners don't get bent!

I've never moved a craft room, so I'm afraid I don't have any advice for you. Just hugs and best wishes! I hope it all goes well. ;-)

Oh my, I can't believe the day is almost here for you guys. I know when I packed up my crafty hallway a couple years ago, I was in such a rush that I literally packed everything. Although I hope we don't move in the near or far future, I know that moving is the best time to get rid of a ton of stuff. I still have things in boxes and I moved 2 years ago....

When we moved about 9 years ago, it was just to the next city, maybe 10 miles. I packed all of my crafting goodies into my little SUV and moved it myself LOL!! The movers brought everything else!!

I've had the pleasure of being in your fabulous craft room, Tracey.. you are so organized, it will be a breeze to pack! If I had any advice at all, it would be to make sure your stamp pads are packed tightly so they can't open/dry out during the move... does that make sense? I'm still road-weary =\

What a huge job! The house we live in now is our first house and we have been here 10 years. I can't imagine packing it all up! I'm not a person that has a lot of 'stuff' bur still there's just so much 'stuff', lol!

I've moved around a lot (my husband was in Can. Armed Forces). We had packers for our moves but I always packed up my craft room.

I recommend wrapping all inks, markers, paints, adhesives etc. in plastic bags before wrapping them in packing paper.

For my paper I made corner protectors (I hate bent corners) out of corrugated cardboard (the kind that PTI uses). Then I wrapped the paper in plastic bags in case anything spills during the move. With everything being wrapped in paper and cardboard, one small leak can spread and damage a lot of boxes in a move.

Pack all your boxes snugly, you don't want anything to shift around during the move. That's how things get damaged. Pack craft stuff in smaller boxes (2 cube or smaller) and distribute the weight evenly among them. You don't want to pack all your paper in one box so that it's really heavy and can crush and damage lighter boxes.

My theory is, when in doubt wrap it in a plastic bag then packing paper. Use lots of packing paper to fill gaps and line the bottom and top of boxes.

I hope this helps! Good luck with your packing and your move, your Muskoka property looks amazing! I spent a lot of time in Gravenhurst when I was growing up.

What a big job is right! I've only moved a few times in my life and I can say I don't like packing. It's all going to be worth it when you get to your new gorgeous house. Sorry no tips. You can do it!!!!!!!

Oh, Tracey! I remember the pressure of packing! We had a 3 week settlement period, so it was definitely speed-packing. When we moved seven years ago I didn't have much craft stuff. I did use a lot of bubble wrap for my other things, though. We filled a large rubbish skip, gave a tonne of things away to charity, and still I have boxes in the garage that I have never opened in 7 years. Time for another skip, lol! Good luck with the move! Remember to take care of yourself and ask for help if you need it.

I hope it all goes well for you. I dont envy you as I hate moving house. I cant imagine what it would be like to pack crafty stuff as I started my card crafting after we moved here. So no offers of advice from me other than spread it out so you dont feel under pressure with it all needing to be done in a short time.

UGH! I don't envy you, Tracey! We recently moved and those boxes bring back lots of memories. haha Some not so good. I waited till the very last to pack my craft room, it was quite overwhelming though. Best of luck to you, friend. Sorry, I don't have any good tips for you.

yay for packing.. I actually don't mind packaging and moving. I love thinking about how I am going to decorate. It helps to declutter while packing too.

When we last moved -- for my crafty stuff I made sure to use a lot of ziploc baggies for my inks/paints/mists ... I hope everything goes smooth!!!!

Lots of good tips! My biggest tip is to label your boxes on the outside very clearly. It helps with the unloading and unpacking so much as well as finding something you really need before you have completely unpacked. Other than that I hope all goes very smoothly! Hugs!!

When I was a kid we moved around a lot, so I'm all too familiar with packing up everything. I have never though, had to pack up my craft room. That would be a chore! Good luck with everything Tracey! I hope it all goes smoothly for you! :)

Oh, I'm so excited that everything is on track for you Tracey! I hate moving and have been in this house for 32 years so I've forgotten any tips I had. When we moved here I'd never even thought of crafting!!!
Good luck with all.

Good luck with your move! I've always put some bubble wrap around my cardstock, so the edges/corners don't get damaged. I had to find out the hard way, the time first time around. ;)

I'm so glad everything is moving along for you, Tracey! I've never packed my craft room, but it looks like others have given you some really sound advice! I hope everything goes smoothly on moving day, and that you're not worn out and exhausted...please make sure to take all the help you can get, ok?

So exciting! Happy packing! I've always been terrible at using too big of boxes and packing them to the tippy top. Then, they're so heavy all our moving help would always grumble. So, use little boxes ;), and have fun!

Tracey....I am so excited for you to move into your new home and really wish I lived closer so I could come over to lend a hand. Take it easy and I wish you all the best!

I don't envy you all the packing, Tracey, but keep your eye on the prize at the end - a beautiful new house, and new craft room. Good luck with it all.

All the hard work will be worth it, Tracey, when you roll up to your new home and start to unpack all the (undamaged) goodies you spent time packing up! My thoughts on craft packing ... lots of bubble wrap, plastic bags, elastic bands (for keeping ink pad covers on) and taking your time to get it all snug in reasonably sized boxes (so they're easily lifted and moved). Hope it all continues to go well, my friend! Hugs, Anita :)

You saddled with the daunting, yet exciting, task of moving, and me with our daunting, yet exciting hither-and-yon travels means I've fallen so behind in connecting with you! I hope you're becoming more settled in with each day and that soon, we'll see you back, crafting up a storm! I can guess you're about ready to 'burst' with creativity that needs an outlet! Missing you immensely!
