Life Update

No card today, just an update on what has been going on in life this past while.

My posting has been a bit sporadic lately. There has been a lot going on in my real world. My son is finished classes for year two! The past few weeks have been multiple term papers, essays, drawings and model building. Tuesday is the deadline for his final project and major presentation of it and his years work/portfolio. So lets just say there has been a lot of stress and just a few phone calls. I am so proud of him and how he has handled things this year, he has become so independent. However, I am also glad that I can be here at any time in the 24 hour clock to talk through roadblocks, seemingly impossible deadlines, to tell him to get some sleep and start again in the morning and to remind him he needs to eat--coffee is not food! I am heading to Sudbury next weekend for the year end open house and maybe to bring him home for a couple days before he heads back for exams, to pack and move to his new place for next year, come home quickly again and head off to his summer job.

At home since my daughter returned from Europe it has been a flurry of activity. It's the home stretch now at school with ISU's and tests, then equally as important prom preparations--booking appointments, finding the right shoes and alterations.  If that isn't enough she is having to choose what university offer she is going to accept. It was easy when her number one choice was her first acceptance but as the other offers have come in she is now struggling with that final decision. Seeing the end of high school, knowing she is going to be 18 in a few months and knowing she is going away to school at the end of the summer has brought on a lots of emotions for both of us. She wants to grow up but it is scary too.  I want her to be my little girl forever, but I am excited for what is next for her. So when she wants to watch a movie with me or bake cookies at bedtime I make popcorn or grab an apron because we have to savour these moments. I saw it happen with Ben, he left for university and everything changed.  Changed for the good but he is not here very often and I miss that.

So if I am not  posting as much as I used to or I am not getting to your blog to comment it's just right now there is a lot of life going on that I don't want to miss before they grow up anymore.

You summed it up perfectly! I love watching mine grow up but I feel the clock ticking down to when they'll be out on their own! Can't wait to see the prom pics, since we had a sneak peek at the dress, and also Ben's work from the open house! Enjoy!

Tracey, you are doing the right thing! Savour every second as it is passed before you know it! Some days when they are young we feel time is going rather slowly but all of a sudden they are grown and gone. Although it is hard to see them leave, this is what we have prepared them for and so it is life, going in the right direction. Be proud you have prepared them for the "world of adulthood"! But of course you don't want to waste quality time with them NOW! We will be here when you come back. Enjoy your time with your family!

What a fun time in your kids' lives. I agree that you need to savor every moment. My daughter will be off to college in 3 years with my son not too far behind.

LOVED reading this Tracey! You have said all that I have felt when my son left for college almost 4 years ago. My son is getting his Masters now and is living in another state, however more times then not I am still his sounding board when things get tough. Yes, I have given him the same advice on sleep and that food makes all things better. I find it best when I am not aware that he is pulling consecutive all nighters! Family is Everything...we aren't going anywhere...go be you!! HUGS! Adorable then and now!

Don't you worry one bit about comments and blogging Tracey. These moments go by too quickly. Just look at my baby boy, a married man with a baby of his own. Seems like his prom was just yesterday! Enjoy this time with your kids. I'm sure they enjoy spending time with the very special mom they have!!

Feeling for you Tracey. Can't read your post without getting a little teary. Looking around at my small people, knowing that in less than a decade, I will be facing that with my eldest. Here's to lots of popcorn and baking opportunities! xxx

Wow, Tracey--so much going on in your life. So many changes--all good, but still changes. Even though I miss chatting with you every day, I think you are doing the right thing by focusing in on your family. I am just at the beginning of some of the same changes, and I will tell you that it seems like you are handling them so well and are setting a very good example for me to follow.

My daughter is a Junior and I am already dreading her going to university. My vote is for a local one but she has her eyes on one in Alberta. Lord give me strength LOL! I treasure the time we have together and make every moment count (with both her and her younger brother) - good for your for doing so with your daughter. Transition times for moms are hard - we work so hard to pour into our kids so they can fly on their own but oh how it hurts when they leave. Hang in there and know you are a great mom ((hugs))!!

Tracey, we're all applauding and cheering the accomplishments of your children, and your incredibly wise decision to spend as much time with them as you can. They're your priority, and yes, they grow up far too fast! I see it with my niece and nephew: 5 and 3 came way too quickly! Enjoy them. Every. Single. Moment!
