It has been a really long time since I played over at Muse, but I love Vicki's card inspiration and I was feeling in the mood to create something just because.
I have had this Impression Obsession die for almost a year and I have never used it before. I guess I was waiting for the right moment. I also used the love die from the original Papertrey Wet Paint dies
I wanted to do some inlaid die cutting and I wanted to keep the white centres of the hearts that were two cuts. Enter lazy here, I am not very patient picking away. So I tried something new to simplify the process. First I die cut the heart from my white panel, then I flipped it over and applied adhesive to the borders and then laid strips of score tape over the opening of the die, removed the backing and set it aside.
Before I die cut the heart on the red cardstock I wiped a fabric softener sheet over the plate I was cutting into on my Big Shot. Then I die cut the red heart and carefully removed the die to keep all the pieces intact. Next I removed the inside red pieces from the double cut hearts. Here is the fun part I carefully laid the heart die cut over the front of my white panel, lining it up and then pressed down gently rubbing the pieces into place. It made the coolest sounds as the pieces stuck to the panel. When you remove the panel all the red pieces are inlaid (well with only a few tiny pieces that fell out en route). Easy peasy.

That's exactly how I do inlaid dies - it makes it so much easier than trying to glue each piece in! Great minds think alike! I also have had this die and only used it very recently when I made my sister's wedding invitations (photos to come!). Great to see you at Muse this week, Tracey!

Beautiful card, Tracey! Clean, bold & striking. I do something similar when inlaying die cuts, backing th e opening with a piece of computer (thin) paper I have run through my Xyron and the litte pieces pop into place perfectly.

I love this card, I recently started inlaid die cutting, but have been calling it paper piecing!? am a newbieish to crafting lol anyway whatever Its called I love this look and think your card is gorgeous, and big thanks for sharing a technique to get all those fiddly bots in there a bit easier :)

What a striking Valentine this is, Tracey! I use double-sided tape for my inlaids and do this, too, except I've never had it work as well as yours did when you pressed it down. Good job!!
