Homework for Day 5 & 6 of Clean & Simple Card Making 3. Laura Bassen taught a great technique using masking and ink blending. Laura must have incredible patience (have you seen her video using the Hero Arts triangle die?) and creative talent. I didn't have the Post It masking tape (on shopping list for tomorrow) so I tried the technique using washi tape. It works but I smudged! So I did it again, the second time the washi tape ripped the cardstock when I was pulling it off, I may have smoothed it one time too many. So back to the first card with the smudge. Hmm...do you like the pink arrow strip at the top and bottom? Not my idea of ideal CAS design (purest that I am), but it covered the smudge! I will definitely try this again with the Post It tape!

I love it! What a great cover up, it doesn't look out of place at all.
Awesome job...love the colors
The colors you used for the stripes are divine. They look gorgeous. And way to recover from the smudge! Awesome balanced design.
I like the arrowed line . . . I think it 'finishes' it nicely. Great job!
loving those colors!!
great card
this is awesome Tracey!
This turned out great! I hear your frustration with the washi tape. UGH! Has happened to me too! You have covered the boo boo up perfectly!
Hahaha! No smudges in evidence at all. I love those little arrows! Fabulous card, Tracey!
Fabulous card Tracey. I love the striped background.
Beautiful!! LOVING that sentiment!!!!
Fabulous masking, Tracey! I love the diagonal stripes!
Your masking is so perfect, Tracey! Great idea covering the smudge with the arrows! Awesome colors - beautiful card!
This is just beautiful. That sentiment is perfect, and I love your stripes. You should not have confessed about the smudges--I thought those rows of arrows were on purpose, and they really add a lot.
I like the arrows Tracey, great save! This is PRETTY!!
Oh, this looks great, Tracey! I love how you covered up your smudge! I always remember a quote by Faye Morrow Bell from when I was first starting to scrapbook: "There are no mistakes, just opportunities to be creative." :)
I love the colours Tracy the stripes are so fun, and I just LOVE the arrow elements - no matter how they got there!
I see only a well-designed, wonderfully pretty card, Tracey! The colours, the sentiment, the stripes and arrows...amazing!

I totally cannot see that smudge! I don't have Laura's patience to try her plaid but I do like your diagonal stripes!
BEAUTIFUL card!!!! So eye-catching. And I love those arrows at the top and bottom. Kudos to you!!
What a pretty card. Your masking is perfect and love your sentiments.
Such a sweet card! Love it!
Actually, Tracey, I think your smudge was a happy accident! I really do like the arrows at the top and bottom and think it enhances your already awesome card homework!! Hugs, Darnell
Love this !
Perfect! Would never have known there was a smudge unless you told us.
Love this! The stripes are just perfect and I think the arrows were a great idea to hide your smudge, thought your focal point is so awesome that I definitely think it could stand on its own. I think I need to invest in the post it tape as well. I used masking on the card I made for Anita and had a bit of bleeding...which is how my card went from one layer to two. :)
I'm playing catch-up Tracey ... not just with visiting but with homework too! Love those diagonal stripes, what a fabulous backdrop for that gorgeous sentiment! The arrows look pretty perfect to me ... would never had known they were smudge coverers! Anita :)
Love...love...love this card! One of my all time favorites of yours. I also love those stitching lines on it too and in pink, just perfect!
Love the stripes and those wonderful colors! Looks perfect to me--repairing smudges is just another part of the creative process!
