Curtain Call Inspiration Challenge - REMINDER

IMG_8165

There is still time to join us for the Curtain Call Inspiration Challenge!

You have until June 25th at 8:00 AM CDT to be inspired and share your project!

The LEAD of this challenge will be invited to be a guest designer in an upcoming challenge!

Some Distress ink blending to pick up the colours from the inspiration and cork flip flops are what came to mind from the inspiration. Just started wearing mine this week, I forgot how much I missed them! The flip flop dies are from Lil' Inker and the sentiment is from Papertrey Ink's  Flippin Out. I added a few of my favourite clear sequins from Pretty Pink Posh to finish it off.

Have a relaxing Father's Day!

Serendipity Stamps Guest Design Take Two

I am back again with another project for my guest design with Serendipity Stamps. This time I used the Lighthouse die along with the "Do Not Go" quote for a masculine card that would be perfect for a graduation. The quote is by Ralph Waldo Emerson.

I was inspired by Peggy's Point Lighthouse which my family visited when we traveled to Peggy's Cove Nova Scotia in 2003.

The tiny little lighthouse in the photo below was mimicked after Peggy's, I can't remember the name of it or where we saw it but I remember being there like it was yesterday.

The sky background was sponged with Tumbled Glass Distress Ink I die cut the lighthouse in white, red and gold. I cut the cap off of the red lighthouse and glued it to the top of the white. The rest of the pieces were inlaid into the white lighthouse. I used a grey snowdrift die to mimic the rocky base Peggy`s lighhouse stands on.

Tag You're It #23 - Reminder & Design Team Call

Happy Friday!

Such a crazy busy week getting our house ready for sale. My hubby has been home since Monday and WE have been tacking the honey-do list together. Sorting and packing things to make our home less homey and more like something from a magazine--lol Replacing a blind in my daughter's room that she had cut the strings when she was 8, replacing not one but two doors on my son's closet that mysteriously had holes behind the posters on it, replacing the screen door on the walkout that had a foot go through it, touching up paint and really just finishing those things that always seemed to get put aside over the 14 years we have been here.  Today we are heading out to look at 5 houses and to catch up with Ben for dinner.

I did take some time tonight to create a card for the current challenge at Tag You're It!

There is still time to play along at Tag You're It for Challenge #23!
You have until Wednesday, June 17 9:00 am EST to link a tag up based on this inspiration! If you are submitting for the Design Team Call the details are on the blog

\

I created a tag that will go on to a package of cards like the ones in the inspiration to pass on to a friend who had knee surgery recently. The sentiment from MFT's The Whole Herd is perfect for gifting something handmade.

Watercolor Blog Hop

IMG_8150

Popping in at the very ast minute with a card for the Pretty Pink Posh Watercolor Blog Hop!

First time in my studio in over a week! I am having some serious withdrawl, to go from spending every moment I could creating to closing my eyes when I pass the door has been hard. I have been busy getting things in order so that I can come back in here and do what I love to do.

I have seen so many beautiful cards and I just want to practice practice practice to get better with watercolouring. As soon as I saw Lindsay Amrhein's card and smooshing technique HERE I wanted to try it out. It didn't turn out exactly as I had hoped but smooshing over top of white embossing is so fun. I'm definitely going to try it again.

I am also submitting this to Virginia's View Challenge #15 Ombre/Monochromatic...

and to Day 8 of the 30 Day Coloring Challenge 2 with Kathy Racoosin...

Tag You're It #23 and a Design Team Call

Happy Friday!

Today we have a new challenge starting at Tag You're It. We also are hosting our first Design Team Call as the 2nd term wraps up.  We are looking for a few new designers for Term 3 which starts in July.  See the Tag You're It blog for details on the call.

Our inspiration comes from a tag I created last year to put on gifts for the teachers my daughter was working with when she did her co-op placement in a kindergarten class. The packages contained several handmade cards for all occasions. How happy would they be to know that Brooklyn was so inspired by her plaement that she will be attending University this fall to take Con-current Education for Primary/Junior.

Here is the inspiration and we hope to see you play along or even join the Design Team Call...

Have a wonderful weekend!

Serendipity Stamps Guest Design & 30 Day Coloring Challenge

IMG_8149

I am happy to share with you today that I am Guest Designing this month with Serendipity Stamps on the Serendipity Stamps Challenge Blog for Challenge #44 "My Guy". Serendipity makes stamps and dies with some of the most beautiful images and designs.  For today's post I have two cards to share with you that would be perfect for a birthday or even more appropriately this month as Father's Day cards.  For these I worked with the Golf Bag Cling Stamp set.

For my first card I stamped the golf bag image on a white panel with Memento Tuxedo Black and coloured the image in with Copic markers--YG23, YG25, T1, 2, 4, 6. The sentiment was stamped with VersaFine Onyx Black.

For the second card I stamped the image with Memento Tuxedo Black and then coloured over the grass with YG23 and coloured the tee in with R05.  The sentiment was stamped with VersaFine Onyx Black.

June 1, 2015

Good Monday Morning

The excitement of the weekend is over and so begins another week--and it's the 1st of June!

I am getting over the fact that all of the prom photos I took with my camera were overexposed and not as crisp as I would like because I did not double check my settings in the flurry of activity!

This summer is going to be crazy for me. We are putting our house up for sale, finding and buying a new house in a new town, a complete change in all of my medication that has begun with taking me off everything to detox my system and now to introduce a brand new cocktail. Oh, did I mention that hubby has not been home in 5 weeks! He will be home by the end of this week but the schedule is tight because we are listing hopefully next week, House shopping when he is away? Challenging, but with the power of the Internet and cell phones we are managing.

All that being said, I am going to take a bit of a break. Lack of design focus when my mind is going a hundred different directions and it is finally time I get serious about physiotherapy for my rotator cuff tendinitis. I am spending far too much time in pain. Which is why I am not leaving as many comments as I used to on all of your amazing blogs. So I am not gone just stepping back for a bit.

I had so many qestions about my daughter's prom hair, so here is the process..

I wanted to share this photo that my son took of his girlfriend on Sunday evening. He took it from his bike while he was riding along with her for a 20 km (12 mile) run. When I first saw it I really thought it was a Nike ad.
