The Card Concept #35

IMG_7897

It's time for a new challenge at The Card Concept!

I was inspired by the soft colours of the inspiration and the ribbon swirled iced cupcakes, so I translated them into the scribbled flowers using Ellen Hutson's Bold Blooms and keeping the placement on my card base and mimicking the grey with my mat. The sentiment is from Avery Elle. I used a black marker to make the "..." which was very brave. The whole card was done, I felt it needed it and I am not the steadiest hand drawing or writing, but I did it--yay me.  ;)

I am also submitting this card to the Ellen Hutson Mix It Up Challenge...

It's time for a new challenge at The Card Concept!

There were so many things that inspired me with this inspiration photo. The colours, the flowers, the tags and the stripes to name a few. I settled out after a few fails, with using some patterned paper with the colours and flowers creating a couple simple tags.

It's time for another challenge over the The Card Concept!

I was so inspired by this graphic I loved the bold greys and pinks, the stripes, the circles and the chevrons and the lamp. I ended up not using the chevrons to keep my design Clean & Simple. Now looking at my card you could almost call it Clean & Graphic--the circles that make up the light stand and the funky graphic on the lamp shade. Do you stick to one style of card making? or does your design sometimes wander? Food for thought.

It's time for another challenge over the The Card Concept!

I love our inspiration photo this time, I had so many ideas in my head but I took the idea that got me to use some NBUS I have had over a year now. I think I was a bit intimidated by all the outlined images, but ended up quite fun to colour.

I am practicing the need to not colour the entire image in and leaving some more white space inside the images. I have been picking up lots of tips during Kathy Rasoosin`s 30 Day Coloring Challenge!

This is my Day 27 colouring for Kathy Racoosin`s 30 Day Color Challenge.

Ready for another challenge at The Card Concept?
We have a yummy photo inspiration up on the blog today:

I went with the obvious for my card this challenge. I have had this Hero Arts cling stamp for a few years now and I love how fun it is to colour. I was inspired by the raspberry pink and red and my cupcake is decorated using those colours. I went over all of the colouring after I was done with a clear Wink of Stella brush.  In the detail photo at the bottom I managed to actually capture to shine with the camera on my phone because my DSLR doesn't seem to be able to--LOL

Hoping that I will be able to sleep tonight, like the night my daughter was flying 7 000 km over the ocean (4 400 miles) she is on an overnight ferry crossing from Pompeii, Italy to Patras, Greece. She is halfway through her trip. I have been getting (brief) nightly updates via texts which have been wonderful. She is having a fabulous time soaking up the culture, the history and the amazing food.

It's time for a new challenge at The Card Concept.

The soft flowers in the inspiration photo evoke thoughts of warmer weather and springtime. Something that we are all ready for after such a harsh winter everywhere. As I type my post tonight we have freezing rain coming down on top of the 8 cm of snow we got this afternoon. Wishing my family had listened to me coming home from Florida when at the first sign of snow I asked them to please turn around and start heading south again!

We hope that you will join us over at the Card Concept that you will explore different types of cardmaking styles or even find out what style you are. There are two takes on the inspiration each challenge in each of the style categories to get your mojo going.

The Card Concept Challenge #29

Time for another new challenge at The Card Concept!

This is officially my first on site vacation card and post.
Due to the events surrounding buying a new vehicle on my own in time to leave for our vacation there were a few cards/posts that did not get completed ahead of time as I had planned.

Arrive in Florida with three teenagers raring to go to the parks and shopping it has been a really fun and really busy vacation so far. We have enjoyed a few dinner's out, a full day at the Magic Kingdom and two full days of outlet shopping. Finally Tuesday night I had some time to finish off my card I started at home and write up my post. With the help of my iPhone, iPad and air drop I was able to snap a few shots of my card on my nightstand.

I was inspired by the fun colours of this challenges colours so I put together a get well card with colourful germs (Thank you Emily Leiphart).  Be sure to visit The Card Concept blog to see what the rest of the team has for your inspiration...

Tomorrow we are heading to Animal Kingdom and Hollywood Studios.
Have a great day I will be sure to share some photos once we get home.

The Card Concept Challenge #28

cover

It's time for a new challenge at The Card Concept!

I was inspired by the warmth and softness of these colours and especially the soft pink roses. I wanted to use the inspiration in keeping with my CAS style. So I focused on keeping the card as close to one layer as I could and to keep to design o minimal clutter. I shrunk down my image panel and was able to use all the colours--the soft brown for the sentiment, pink and grey for the rose an a darker brown for the heart. The heart has a double layer of the 'camera ellusive' Wink of Stella.
