Jackie Rockwell was the inspiration behind RetroSketch #8 and I have to say that this sketch was way out of my comfort zone. I didn't want to forgo this week so I used the sketch as a springboard to make it work for me and I am so glad I did. I ended up with a card that I'm really happy with.
I grabbed a few extra bakery tags when grocery shopping and they made perfect hangers for my twine swag. I used the Lily Bee Design Tiny Tablet I picked up at Scrapfest last week and Melissa Bickford's Heart 2 Heart min stamp set and die to finish it off. I am also adding this card to the Simon Says Anything Goes Challenge.
Cardstock: Kraft (PTI)
Patterned Paper: Double Dutch (Lily Bee Design)
Clear Stamps: Heart 2 Heart #2
Ink: Pure Poppy (PTI), Tuxedo Black Memento (Tsukineko)
Dies: Heart 2 Heart #2, Block Alphabet
Other: foam squares, Mandarin Bakers Twine (The Twinery), Corner Chomper, bakery tags

Tracey I have to say that I'm so happy you challenged yourself! Your bakery tag idea is BRILLIANT!!! It's a terrific card! I agree with Maria what a COOL trend bakery tags would be. Sooooo glad you played along with us at Retrosketches this week! :)
ReplyDeleteWhat a fun card. How clever to use bakery tags. I am with you, in that the challenge blogs push me to create when I don't even need the card. In fact, sometimes I procrastinate making the cards I need, because I have an idea for a challenge card that is more compelling.
ReplyDeleteCute, cute, cute! I love the bakery tag idea--what a great way to recycle! The colors of this card are perfect, too!
ReplyDeleteSuch a brilliant idea to use the bakery tags Tracey. I think your card is fun and clever. I only started my blog so I could enter into the MIM card challenges. They do help us grow in our craft but they shrink our wallets..:)
ReplyDeleteLove this Tracey - so fun!!!! Those papers are great! Thank you so much for playing with us at RetroSketches!

ReplyDeleteWhat a fun card, I love that you used grocery tags, great idea, thanks for sharing, I need to pop some in my trolley next time I go shopping. Have a good weekend. Deb xxx
ReplyDeleteThis is fabulous Tracey, love the banners and lovely layering.
ReplyDeleteYou know, I always thought I should be saving those little tags! Great idea Tracey.
ReplyDeleteI've been meaning to tell you my neighbor, dear friend and fellow crafting partner-in-crime also has MS. She's in her mid 30s and it pains me to see her struggle. I pray for her often and will include you as well.
Hang in there! Keep those cards coming!

Tracey ~ another awesome card! Yes, those challenges can be quite addicting. I seem to find some of the color challenges harder than the sketch challenges. I also give myself a break, if I can't seem to make something work.
