colourQ challenge #132 & Make It Monday #61: Creating Flowers With Leaf Dies

Definitely a groovy retro colour palette this week at colourQ.  Can you say vibrant?  Over coffee this morning I was contemplating what colours I was going to use to create a flower for papertrey's Make It Monday.  As soon as I saw this week's colourQ palette I knew that was it.  Although I typically don't go for bright colours, I was a child in the 70's and these colours pretty much match the wallpaper we had in the kitchen.  I found inspiration in my fond memories.  I chose to make my flower using the Up & Away balloon dies as they give the flower leaves the look of a retro flower.  I VersaMark stamped the balloons using the co-ordinating stamps.

All Supplies are from Papertrey Ink unless otherwise noted:

Cardstock: White, Pure Poppy, Orange Zest, Simply Chartreuse, True Black
Stamps: Up Up & Away, Make a Wish
Ink: Simply Chartreuse, VersaMark (Tsukineko)
Dies: Up Up & Away
other: Pure Poppy button, large window die cut (compliments of Marybeth)

Tracey I love this !!!!! You're so smart to use the balloon for the flower, it looks great and I love the bright colors! Love the extra detail of you stamping each petal ( balloon) . Nice way to get the black in, with the frame. I see a winner!

Love this so much. I've been working on this MIM concept today, and considered using the balloons, but couldn't see how I could make it work. Well, you showed me, and now I can't copy you. Will have to do something else. I love how you framed it all in the window. That was very clever.

Oh Tracey, I love this!! Your stamping on the balloons ... er, I mean flower petals ... adds such a nice amount of texture! In the 70s we had wallpaper similar to this too, but in the bathroom. Good times : ) Really striking card and colors.
