30 Day Coloring Challenge Feb 10

tracey_30DayFeb10cover

Happy snowy Saturday!

Today I am using Simon Says Stamp Christmas Town for the 30 Day Coloring Challenge with Katy Racoosin. I stamped and clear embossed my images on Bristol Smooth and then cut them out with my Scan N Cut. Distress Inks were used to watercolor the images. Finally I created a snow bank and  used Stickles and crystal glitter to add some snow to the top of the snow bank and added it to the card base with foam tape.

30 Day Coloring Challenge February 7

I hope my post today makes you think of spring!

It is still really cold where I live and today it is snowing away. It has snowed non stop for the past 4 days. Very fine constant snow--we have about 16" on top of the 16" we already had. February is historically the coldest month of the year where I live and we are certainly not out of the woods with snowfall. So this little Copic coloured guy from Neat and Tangled Egg-stra Special makes me think spring is coming! For the 30 Day Colouring Challenge!

30 Day Coloring Challenge February 6

One more for the 30 Day Coloring Challenge, this time using the Essentials By Ellen Arctic Pals stamps and Arctic Pals Designer Dies.

I smooshed a background using Salty Ocean Distress Oxide Inks. I stamped the sentiment on the weekend when I got together with the girls from Toronto. I stamped it on 110 lb Neenah cardstock, not the best choice for mixing with water. However, a quick swipe and the result was pretty good. The paper warped a bit...

I finished it off by putting mini action wobbles behind the penguins!

The 30 Day Coloring Challenge February 5

Happy Monday!
Another card for the 30 Day Coloring Challenge.
Today, Ardyth and I, are colouring the brand new Essentials by Ellen Leading Lady Dogs set.

I started by smooshing the background with Cracked Pistachio Distress Oxide Ink. The leading lady and her puppies were coloured with Copic markers. I prepared a short video below making my card, I will put a hyperspeed video on IG but the version below is slower so you can see my mistakes!

I have been asked lately if I could demonstrate how I make smooshed backgrounds. I am no expert, but in the video you will see that I don't do anything amazing. I usually use Bristol Smooth cardstock or watercolour paper. What I can say is that I don't add a lot of water to my ink on my craft mat and that I usually try to make just one quick pass through the ink. If you leave it too long it almost wants to stick to the mat and definitely gets very saturated. If I am going to add more ink or other colours, I dry the panel in between each layer  I did a few quick passes on my card front today. The sentiment is from the Leading Lady Cozy Lady lady stamp set.

The 30 Day Coloring Challenge February 4

Happy Super Bowl Sunday!
Do you watch the Super Bowl? Go to a party?

Low key day here, Snow had been falling since yesterday, so I am staying in, making a roast for dinner and organizing in my studio. My hubby is busy labeling the breaker panel so lights are going on and off . Super Bowl will be on and we will be wacthing This is Us after the game.

Anyway, back to my card. Another one for the 30 Day Coloring Challenge. Do you ever over colour an image? I coloured the hippo and I really liked how it turning out but my marker started running out of ink and I had to refill. When I went back to colouring it started to look splotchy in patches so I went over again with the lightest colour and then needed to go back in with the darker shades and then...well too dark--lol! I love this challenge because it really helps me to learn with my successes and failures. This image is one of the early Essentials By Ellen stamp sets, Wish Big. I stamped it yesterday when I got together with some of my crafty friends in Toronto. So I couldn't stamp again and start over.
