Color Hues #92

Hi there crafty friends! So hard to believe that it's already August 1st, I don't know what happened to June! It's time for a new color duo for the Color Hues Color Challenge #92. Talented teammate Stef chose the colours of Pink and Brown. Right from the beginning I thought of Neapolitan ice cream and how the ice cream block looked when you opened the rectangular carton. Being one of 5 kids in the house it was not uncommon for one of the flavours, usually chocolate, to be missing-lol!

I didn't have the right stamps to make ice cream but I did have the Lawn Fawn Stitched Cupcake die so a cupcake iced with chocolate icing and a pink wrapper was born. The background paper is from Lawn Fawn's Gotta Have Gingham Rainbow 6 x 6 paper pad. I cut the paper with the scalloped rectangle from retired MFT Stamps Blueprints #27. I cut a white circle and added my brown and pink cupcake with foam tape.

The party hat was cut from pink cardstock and the top layer from pink sparkle cardstock.

The sentiment is from Honey Bee Stamps Birthday Wishes stamped and then cut from the co-ordinating dies.

If you haven't already visited the Color Hues Color Challenge Blog I encourage you to stop by and see what my fabulous teammates have created for the challenge.

Thanks so much for stopping by and I can't wait to see what you create!

  2. Since you mentioned Neapolitan ice cream, I have to tell how my mom cut the quart in 'sticks' 12 to be exact! Each one of us got a stick [think butter] with all three flavors - I'm quite sure my dad got the extra one.

Thanks for the memory and such a darling cupcake to go with it!

  3. You made me giggle with your story about the Neapolatin ice cream. I remember similar situations when my sister and I were around our cousins, you had to be quick to get some of the chocolate lol!

This is such a cute card Tracey! The party hat really adds to the festive feel and I love the gingham paper cut with the scallop die! So sweet and a great way to use my color combo!

  6. Tracey, What a great memory you shared and it reminded me so much of my childhood too. Lucky for me, Strawberry and Vanilla are my favorite so there was usually some of that left in the carton. Your cupcake card is darling and I especially love the party hat decoration. Have a great weekend!

  9. I loved Neapolitan ice cream as a kid, but I don't think I've seen it recently. I'll be checking it out next time I'm at the grocery store. Your gingham background is the perfect background for the yummy cupcake! Love that glittery party hat, too.
