Color Hues #34

Happy February!

It's time for a new color another challenge at the Color Hues! We hope you'll join us for Color Hues #34. This challenge our colours are red & black!

I used an old favourite, wood block stamp made by Hero Arts called Dots & Flowers to make my patterned piece. Really simple, I opened my mini MISTI and lay the stamp on its back on the mat. Then I inked my stamps up well with VersaFine Onyx black ink. To make my impression I lay my cardstock on to the inked stamp and rubbed all over the stamp to get a good impression and Peeled in off--Voila!

I have kept all of my favourite woodblock stamps. I don't use them very often, but when I do I am amazed by the quality of the impression. Did you keep yours???

I added a sentiment from Love Struck by A Jillian Vance Design and a few die cut hearts and some sparkling gem stones!

We can't wait to see what you do!

Yes, indeed, I have kept some of my wooden stamps, and I'd never think to use my MISTI, so thanks for that great idea! The design of your card is perfection---I love everything about it!

Oh yes--I still have a ton of wood mounted stamps. I'm going to try using them with the MISTI like you did. I just pulled out one the other day & didn't get a good impression. Just can't bear to get rid of all of them & I have way too many to take them off the blocks like a friend has done. Anyway--your card is a classic, Tracey! Love the design & those beautiful sparkle gems!

Oh yes, I still have woodblock stamps and you're right, the impression is fantastic! Pretty card, Tracey. Hope this winter is treating you well. We're in for another foot of snow in a day or two ~ good grief!

I only have ever had a few wood-mounted stamps, Tracey. But it's easy to see you have the process down!
A sweet Valentine - anyone would be a food not to say "yes!"

Gorgeous card, and I love those colors together. Thanks for the tip on using those large wooden stamps. Yes, I have many oldie but goodie wooden stamps I cannot part with.

I too love your card and am trying to CASE it with a large block. Thanks for the tip using it. Yup, I still have almost all of my wooden stamps, large and small.

It's so funny you asked that, Tracey, as I've been struggling over what to do with some of my last remaining wooden stamps. I'll always keep my favorite large background wooden stamps like you've used so well here as a border, but I have a lot of smaller NBUS ones still and at some point I have to conclude that if I haven't used them YET ...! Your classic design makes for a very cool, very romantic Valentine! Hugs, Darnell

I still have my older wooden background stamps but I seldom use them. You may have inspired me to get them out and have a play with them now! I thought you used a beautiful piece of patterned paper on this! Gorgeous design, and I love that sentiment with the little arrow too! Great Valentine1
