Regal Peacock Slimline Card

I am up on the Birch Press Design blog today with a really colourful card using the new Regal Peacock Layers dies! Before I got started I looked online for photos of Peacocks to help me out in making colour selections for each layer of the tail.

Here is a look at the supplies that I used for my card today--cardstock, craft dies and Distress Oxide inks.

The peacock will fit on a standard A2 size card base but I decided it would be fun to create a slimline card so that the peacock would really stand out! My slimline card is 3 ¾” x 7 ¾” and the inside panel is 3 ½” x 7 ½”.  I began my card by creating an ink blended background using Mowed Lawn, Lucky Clover and Peacock Feathers Distress Oxide inks along with my blending brushes. Once I finished blending the panel I flicked some watered down white acrylic paint on to it. Below is a link to the video I created to show you how I created my card. You can watch it here on my blog or head over to watch it on my YouTube channel HERE, please give it a thumbs up if you enjoy it!

Layer A which is the body of the peacock and the full shape of the tail are all cut from a bright royal blue cardstock. This way the once all the layers are adhered together you will see the tiny dots of blue like you would on a peacock's tail when it's fanned out.

I used two shades of green cardstock for Layers D and C and then layer B which is the top layer I die cut from gold sparkle cardstock which looks just gorgeous!

The blended ink panel was adhered to the 3 ¾” x 7 ¾” slimline card base. The peacock was attached to the blended card panel with foam squares to give it a bit of dimension. The sentiment is from the No One Like You stamp set as it was white embossed on the bright royal blue cardstock and added to the bottom of the card with foam tape.

Thanks so much for stopping by today.

Hello Bluebird Instagram Challenge

I have a card to share today for the Hello Bluebird Instagram - Spooky Night!

I purchased the Halloween Party stamp set and the Spooky Scene dies last year just before Halloween and I didn't have a chance to use it. So this challenge was the perfect opportunity to get it out and ink it up!

I started off by blending a panel of Bristol Smooth cardstock using Distress Oxide inks in Dried Marigold, Seedless Preserves, Faded Jeans and finally a bit of Black Soot around the top edges. I splattered the panel with some watered down white acrylic paint and set it aside to dry. I die cut the Spooky Scene from black cardstock and I adhered it to my ink blended panel with liquid glue. The die cut the spooky scene in three main pieces so you can use them all or use just the pieces you want. I stamp and die cut the cute critters from the stamp set and coloured the images with Copic markers. I added them to the scene with either tape runner and the bat and bear with foam tape. The tiny 'Boo!' sentiment was white embossed int he upper right corner!

Happy Halloween!

End of Summer Soiree - August '19

End of Summer???
Not for this girl, as much as I love fall I am not ready to let go of the summer weather just yet, we waited too long for it! However it is the last day of the month and time for the August The 12 Kits of Occasions!

As this posts I am actually moving my daughter back up to Sudbury for her 5th and final year. She is doing a ConEd program which is a 5 year program working on both her Bachelor of Arts in Sociology and her Bachelor of Education at the same time. So this year is called her Pro Year and she was only invited to complete this year if she kept honours standing. So mom's bragging pants on, I am so proud of my girl!

As for this months The 12 Kits of Occasions we had a lovely kit inspired by designer Michelle Leone! Such a unique colour combination and I was able to create 5 cards and still have some leftovers to CASE some of my teammates! However, I am only able to share 3 with you today. The other two I didn't have time to photograph with all the frenzy of packing!

Here are the cards that I created this month:

Please visit the 12 Kits of Occasions blog to see what the rest of the team has done with the same products!

I'll return Sunday with my remaining cards, hope you are having a fantastic Labor Day weekend!

Lawn Fawnatics Challenge #58 - Interactive

When I saw that Lawn Fanatics Challenge #58 was Interactive Cards I knew I wanted to make another card with the Magic Picture Changer die!

This Sunday my parents will be celebrating their 70th wedding anniversary! Something no many people are fortunate to celebrate. My mom is particularly fond of sweet images on cards and the Lawn Fawn Happy Wedding stamp set is loaded with them.

This card is ready to go with me on Sunday when the whole family is getting together to celebrate my parents for reaching this milestone.  This Sunday, August 18th, happens to be my wedding anniversary! My hubby and I are celebrating our 29th!  This is the card I made for my parents!

For my interactive card I stamped and coloured the tweet couple from Happy Wedding on to the top of the wedding card in the front magic slider frame. For the image my Magic Picture Changer was going to reveal I stamped two champagne glasses also from the Happy Wedding stamp set. After I stamped them I felt I needed some more colour so I created two masks for the champagne glasses on full back Post-it notes. I covered the images and ink blended some Tumbled Glass Distress Oxide ink around them. I cut the two pieces of the picture changer and assembled the mechanism with my teflon bone folder and double sided tape. To learn how to assemble the magic picture changer check out this VIDEO

I cut the frame from the magic picture changer add on using Peacock cardstock. Then the sentiment was put together with the word 'cheers' from Let's Bokeh and then I built the remaining of the sentiment using Smitty's ABC's alphabet stamp set--both were white embossed. The frame was adhered with foam tape to my card base that was matted with paper from the Perfectly Plaid Rainbow 6" x 6" paper pack (retired).

If you haven't tried the Magic Picture Changer die yet you really should. I have made quite a few of these now and i can almost do it without a refresher from the video now--lol.

Enjoy the rest of your weekend!
