Happy Saturday!
Can you believe it is the last weekend of August? where did the summer go, that seems to be something I say every year at this time! I am not a cold weather or winter person at all and although this summer has been hotter than any summer I can ever remember, I loved every moment of it.
I can tell that fall is coming though, the gardens have run their course and you can see just a bit of yellows are oranges in the distance on the leaves. I do love fall too, my second favourite season but I am not quite ready to give up summer just yet and especially not ready to give up bare feet and flip flops!
The August Essentials Challenge at Ellen Hutson is a technique challenge--use alcohol inks!
I couldn't miss out on the fun! Ever since the So Matcha stamp set was released I have wanted to make the sweet kimono's using alcohol inks, so here was my chance. I started by making a few panels with alcohol inks and one they were dry I stamped the images and embossed them with gold and I added the small floral image on one of the kimonos in gold too. Then I paper pieced the kimonos onto the girls who were Copic coloured.
My background was sponged with Distress Oxide inks, flicked with water, sprinkled with white watercolour paint and Copic opaque white. The bamboo trees were added to my background also embossed in gold and I finished it off with a sentiment white embossed on black. I am quite happy with how this turned out and now that I have made this card I want to do it again.
A word of warning, the Yupo paper warps really easily!
A closer look...
I am also going to submit this to this week's Simon Says Wednesday Challenge Anything Goes!
