This is the first time I have been in my studio in over a week. I have to tell you it feels strange. I was busy busy making sure my kids had everything they needed and packed before heading up to school. The packing got done and they headed up to school on Saturday. We followed behind because Brooklyn was moving into a new dorm. Ben already has an apartment in Sudbury but was home for some home cooking and to pick up a few things. I love the my kids go to the same university, they are on different campuses but I feel better knowing that they have each other and if Brooklyn needs something her big brother is just a text away and has a car. That makes Mom and Dad feel much better.
In the meantime I received a package from Simon Says Stamp in it was the Hero Arts Color Layering Flamingo (finally), the Ombre Autumn ink pad and a few ala cart ZIG markers. I am not exactly sure why I wanted to make a flamingo with Ombre Autumn ink pad but I really wanted to, and I did. It didn't turn out quite like I hoped but the second try was a bit better. I used VersaFine ink before sponging with the Ombre ink and there was a bit of smudging. I think I should have done it the other way around? Any thoughts on this are welcome. After the panel was done and matted with gold I applied Wink of Stella for some shine and added a few Ombre ink splatters and Stickles filled sequins!
So glad everyone is moved in and doing well. The rich colors on the flamingo look fabulous.
ReplyDeleteTracey you have really outdone yourself here ... gorgeous!!! I actually prefer this handsome shades of orange version of a Flamingo much better than pink!
ReplyDeleteI look forward to a long chat SOON!! Glad the kids got off okay, with the help of their very capable parents ... and hope Momma will enjoy her quiet time [even though I remember how sad those first days are] ... xx

Gorgeous! Love the subtle sparkle!
ReplyDeleteI think I will try to make this year go by as slowly as possible, knowing that my oldest will be graduating in the spring.... It's amazing how fast time flies!
ReplyDeleteI love your fabulous card, Tracey! Best wishes to your kids!
Love how you colored the flamingo and the soft background you created for it, beautiful card!
ReplyDeleteWhat a fun card and I love the inked 'texture' on the bird!
ReplyDeleteI think your flamingo is just perfect; he's just had a shrimp-rich diet!
ReplyDeleteAw kids moving away, such a tug at the heart strings...
STUNNING!!! Wow! Love your card. Good luck to your kiddos as they had off to college.
ReplyDeleteThat ombre flamingo is stunning. The colors are gorgeous.
ReplyDeleteOh my, the coloring on your flamingo is just stunning, Tracey!!
ReplyDeleteThat is great that your kids are close enough to help each other out if needed. My sister is delivering her girls to 2 different Ontario universities from Vancouver and is happy they will be within a few hours of each other lol.
I love your autumn flamingo! What a gorgeous card.
ReplyDeleteI would feel the same way you do knowing that the kids have each other while away at school. Your card is so pretty Tracey! Love the depth of color on the flamingo!!
ReplyDeleteLOVE your flamingo, Tracey! You did such a great job with the background, too! And I feel your "pain"...they grow up WAY too fast! Good luck to your kids' new school term! You have to take care of yourself, too! So glad that you join the fun over Simon Says Stamp Wednesday” Anything Goes” Challenge! Awesome details and design!
ReplyDeleteThis card really caught my eye, it is beautiful. The colors are so vibrant and I love the way you did the ground. Plus I like the sentiment. It's so quiet when the kids are gone. I wish I'd had Skype, internet and free long distance calling when mine were in college.
ReplyDeleteGorgeous card--I love how you inked that flamingo. It has such an elegant look. And, look at your kids! How nice that they are together and can see each other while they are far away from you.
ReplyDeleteI think your flamingo turned out beautifully! I love the variation in colors and your gold border adds a real touch of elegance to this card...So pretty!
ReplyDeleteOh, I really like the richer colors on your flamingo. Your card is quite stunning! TFS the wonderful pictures. And how great that the kids will be near each other. Wishing both of them a fantastic year!
ReplyDeleteWow, that flamingo is fantastic, Tracey ... so striking in those ombre colours! Good to see you back ... hope by now things have settled a little after Ben & Brooklyn went back to school ... aren't they both gorgeous ... such a great photo! Hugs, Anita :)
