30 Day Coloring Challenge - Day 4

IMG_9563

This is Day 4 of Kathy Racoosin's 30 Day Coloring Challenge at The Daily Marker.com!

I have always been a bit late catching on to new trends and techniques in cardmaking. There was a time when I didn't like sequins (can you imagine?), when I didn't 'get' Distress Inks, embossing paste was just messy and what would you colour with Copic markers? Ha ha ha, that all changed because I love all of these techniques and many more. My most recent love/hate has been watercolour. I love the look of it, but I am finding it so challenging.  Why not take a class? My Type A personality tells me that I can figure it out on my own. My recycle bin is full of watercolour fails. However, for my card today I did an emboss resist which didn't end up in the blue bin! I white embossed my background on watercolour paper, smooshed some Distress Ink onto my craft mat and spritzed it with some water. Then I painted over top on the panel--easy!

I made up a few of these for the Lasting Hearts Card Drive.
What a wonderful way to comfort parents who have lost a child from a miscarriage. I wish that there was more support and understanding when I lost my first pregnancy to miscarriage at 16 weeks. Read Kimberly Saldana's story here on Jennifer McGuire's blog.

  3. Perfect way to watercolor! I love the light and dark layers of the gorgeous pink and that it has 'boundaries.' The black die cut sentiment just pops against your lovely background. This is soft and pretty, and is just right for this cause. Beautiful card. Bev
