Bye, Bye Birdie - February '15 and RetroSketches #155

Happy Saturday and on this non-leap year today is the day we are unveiling our creations at the 12 Kits of Occasions.  Sharron is our hostess for February and the theme is birds. Sharron sent us the mos fabulous kit filled with gorgeous Prima papers, die cut grasses, branches and birds, birds and more birds. I could have and will still be able to make so many  more cards with all the goodies she sent to us.  So grab a cuppa and let get on with the cards.

I used this week's sketch from Freshly Made Sketches #175 for the following card.

This card was made for this week's new RetroSketches sketch #155.

I used the sketch from the Wednesday Sketch Challenge #217 at MFT Card Challenges for my next card. It was a great way to showcase so many papers from the kit while using MFT Die-namics First Place Award Ribbon and a sentiment from Sea Life.

I love these adorable long legged birds from Technique Tuesday.

For this one I let the beautiful paper stand on it's own.

I am also submitting these cards to the Simon Says Wednesday Challenge Anything Goes!

Here are all my cards lined up on the windowsill.

Spring Coffee Lover's Blog Hop

IMG_7538

Got your coffee ready?
It's time for the Spring Coffee Lover's Blog Hop!

Amy Tsuruta and Chaitali Narla are the co-host for this event and the co-hosts of the Coffee Loving Cardmaker's Blog. The hop starts there.

I used the Hero Arts Need Caffeine stamp set for my distressed cups and the steam is from Lawn Fawn's Love You a Latte. I used some springtime colours for my mugs, I think we all need this as we are hopefully sending winter packing. My blue panel is a happy accident. I knew I wanted coloured cardstock to back my cups and I pulled this piece out of my scrap bin. I previously cut a wave from it but I actually liked the way it looked so I left it alone.

Reverse Confetti SFYTT - February

IMG_7528

Can't believe that February is almost done!
Usually the end of February means the ending of winter, the snow will melt soon and the temperatures will start rising. This year that isn't the case. The snowbanks are higher than they were two weeks ago and the temperatures are just plain cold.

This card is for the February Reverse Confetti Sketch For You To Try. This card could be for an engagement or wedding card.

Right now making cheery cards is how I am going to beat the winter blahs, how are you going to beat them?

RetroSketches #154

IMG_7526

A bit late with inspiration for this week's RetroSketches but I couldn't let the week pass by without sharing a card. How is it possible to make so many cards and to be short on birthday cards? Time to replenish my stash of them.

Hope that you come and play along with us this week, be sure to check in on the RetroSketches blog to see what the rest of the design team has to inspire you!

I hope to be able to share some photos of our vacation but with 5 of us all taking photos and three of them being teenagers I am still trying to get them all gathered together.

Happy Tuesday and time for another Cue Word at CASology!
This week our our cue word is:

If you have a tiny die cut image, add some foam tape behind it to make it pop against your background for impact. I use this teeny tiny band aid stamp from Lawn Fawn for my get well card.

There is still time to join us for the Curtain Call Inspiration Challenge!

You have until February 25th at 8:00 AM CST to be inspired and share your project!

I am at the tail end of the party!  I am just back from vacation so I had a moment among the chaos of unpacking and laundry to finish my card for this challenge. I can't tell you how much I love the Donut You Know stamp set from Reverse Confetti.

The Card Concept Challenge #29

Time for another new challenge at The Card Concept!

This is officially my first on site vacation card and post.
Due to the events surrounding buying a new vehicle on my own in time to leave for our vacation there were a few cards/posts that did not get completed ahead of time as I had planned.

Arrive in Florida with three teenagers raring to go to the parks and shopping it has been a really fun and really busy vacation so far. We have enjoyed a few dinner's out, a full day at the Magic Kingdom and two full days of outlet shopping. Finally Tuesday night I had some time to finish off my card I started at home and write up my post. With the help of my iPhone, iPad and air drop I was able to snap a few shots of my card on my nightstand.

I was inspired by the fun colours of this challenges colours so I put together a get well card with colourful germs (Thank you Emily Leiphart).  Be sure to visit The Card Concept blog to see what the rest of the team has for your inspiration...

Tomorrow we are heading to Animal Kingdom and Hollywood Studios.
Have a great day I will be sure to share some photos once we get home.

CCC #134

Happy Tuesday and time for another Cue Word at CASology!
This week our our cue word is:

When creating a card with a monochrome palette multi-step stamping is great. For my card today I started with a dark park for the detail layer used a light pink for the middle layer and then used the same light pink again for the base. Stamping the base make the middle layer a bit darker and pop more.
