Something to be Thankful For

Happy Friday!

I imagine that most of you are having a tryptophan hangover today from your turkey.
I hope that you had a wonderful Thanksgiving yesterday.

We had a very different day yesterday but one that makes my family very thankful.
As I have mentioned this week it was not Thanksgiving in Canada. We had it in October.

Yesterday we were up at 5:00 am to leave by 6:00 am to get to downtown Toronto to Sick Kids hospital (Toronto Hospital for Sick Children) to have our daughter Brooklyn in to have an ECG, ECO and appointment with her pediatric cardiologist.

Why so thankful?

This photo was taken in October 1997, days before Brooklyn came home from Sick Kids.
She was transferred in from another hospital in congestive heart failure at 2 1/2 months old.
An amazing hospital and with doctors who worked tirelessly to find an answer and give one to us.
She had a 5 hour emergency surgery that was successful--they saved her life.

For that we are eternally grateful to the doctors and  nurses who worked so hard to save her life.
Here we are now after 17 years of bi-annual appointments with various specialists, my baby girl was officially discharged yesterday!

I have now collected all of the comments from my blog for the 25 Days of Christmas Tags and I am going to give all my guest designers the weekend to get their comments to me to put into the prize draws..

I will be announcing all of the prize winners on Monday!
Have a wonderful weekend!

  10. Oh Tracey, THAT is WONDERFUL news! You definitely have much to be thankful for!
We have great hospitals here in Canada and don't have to worry about the costs OR insurances, THANK GOD! My little girl was born 3 months premature and spent the 1st 2 months of life in hosp. Weighing less than 3 lbs. she had lots of issues. She is now a 32 year old, married jewellery designer with 2 little ones of her own. Life is GOOD! Congrats to you and your family!

  41. You must be so relieved and I can imagine extremely thankful that your daughter has a clean bill of health. I'm sitting here typing while listening to Max (8yrs) coughing his lungs out with croup. He was born 5 wks early on purpose (was causing me problems) but unfortunately his lungs were far from ready and both of them developed holes. He too was very, very sick but the hospital was wonderful and we all nursed him back to health. I'm hoping by the time he is 17yrs old, that his lungs will have grown stronger and he too will be free from doctors visits. So I too am very thankful he is here. Feel I must go give him a hug right now!!
