Another fun colour pallete this week at colourQ. The colours are very fitting for July the 4th celebrations in the US. We just celebrated July 1st in Canada so I wanted to create a card that wasn't holiday focused. I just received Papertrey's Lovely Layers in the mail last week and couldn't wait to give the medallion a go. Using the four colours in this weeks palette along with the same process that Dawn McVey used in last weeks Make It Monday video
HERE, I created my medallion. What I enjoyed the most about creating this embellishment was that there was so much stamping. After creating this first card I didn't quite like the look of it, it seemed a bit busy for me. So I recreated the card using my more CAS approach in this post
HERE and it felt right. I am interested to know which one you like best Take One or Take Two. :)
All Supplies are from Papertrey Ink unless otherwise noted:
Cardstock: White
Patterned Paper: Pure Poppy Paper Pack, Enchanted Evening Paper Pack
Stamps: Lovely Layers
Ink: Melon Berry, Pure Poppy, Spring Rain, Blueberry Sky (PTI), Tuxedo Black Memento (Tsukineko)
Dies: Lovely Layers, Limitless Layers Squares
Other: foam dots
Tracey, I love both cards! But this one is my favorite! I love the pattern paper you added to the background! Beautiful!
ReplyDeleteThis is sooooo cool!!!
ReplyDeleteTracey they're both gorgeous but I am such a sucker for patterned paper that I would have to go with this one!
ReplyDeleteOf course, they are both lovely cards, but I like this one a little better with the white background against the medallion.
ReplyDeleteI love this question and wonder if you will end up with a 50-50 representation after a few days. Like others, I really do like them both, but I lean towards white space, so I like the one w/out the patterned paper a WEE bit more.
ReplyDeleteGorgeous...love the polka dot background...off the take a look at the second one.
ReplyDeleteI see you did well in last month's Papertrey release! This is beautiful - I'm not always a many-layer girl, but this is just gorgeous! I think they're both good - the darker one could be more of a wintery card, and the lightened up one for summer?
ReplyDeleteLove what you did with the new set! Gorgeous!
ReplyDeleteWell Tracey, I'm sorry but I can't pick a favorite--they are both so fabulous! I totally love the way you have combined the patterned papers with those lovely layered pieces. I think your cards are every bit as wonderful as the ones shown by the DT!
ReplyDeleteOh, boy. You have to start out with a pop quiz? I keep going back and forth and trying to decide. They are both fabulous, and I love them both. Wonderful use of the color challenge, and of those Lovely Layers. Ok, I am stalling, stalling. Can I just say I love them both equally? No, OK well, I love this one because of the beautiful patterned papers, and I am trying to hard to use my patterned papers, so am encouraging you to do the same. But, the prior one has that wonderful white space that I love so much, as well as all the beautiful stamping and layering. So, still stalling, stalling...The prior card--but just by a smidge. Have a great day--stay cool.
ReplyDeleteWell, I like them both! Sorry to be all Politically Correct on you, but they really are both nice cards. I like the white space on the other one, but the card in this post is so delightful with all the polka dots and bold colors. Good thing you have one of each, though! (hee hee) ;-)
ReplyDeleteTracey, that is a difficult question to answer...I like both but if you twisted my arm and made me choose one it would this one. I don't usually make cards with lots of white space on them but you seemed not to have a problem with it. Your layers are very lovey and really a wonderful set patriotic cards, so fun and festive. I love how you used two different patterned papers too, they really go so well together.
ReplyDeleteThis is gorgeous, love the papers! Thanks so much for playing at the colourQ this week x2 - LOL!
ReplyDeleteAnother beautiful card using that bloom, Tracey, love the papers you used with it! Thanks again for playing this week at the CQC!
ReplyDeleteOh, this is beautiful!!!! I love the layered flower and the scalloped square. And I like how you used the colors for something 'different'. GREAT card!
ReplyDeleteWow this is gorgeous Tracey!
ReplyDeleteAmazing what a difference a few subtle changes can make. I really like them both. This one is so bold and fun with the polka dot papers in the background. On the CAS one the medallion really gets to shine and I like that you used a touch of patterned paper in the lacey background. Gorgeous!
