I love creating for Valentine's day. Over the next week I would like to share some Valentines' creations past and present with you. This little card started with a kraft base, I added some cute cardstock patterned paper from Papertrey Ink's Simple Valentine, matted a Jenni Bowlin mini love bingo card with pure poppy cardstock and then created this puffy little flower with bookprint from an old poetry book.
I first learned how to make the puffy flower watching a video from one of my favourite designers, Dawn McVey, http://dawnmcvey.typepad.com/these_are_a_few_of_my_fav/2010/01/new-raspberry-suite-sneakie-peek.html.
- Punch 5 scalloped circles of bookprint.
- Layer them and pierce a hole in the middle through all 5 layers then secure with a small brad.
- Starting with the top layer, scrunch the paper around the brad. Do this for the next 3 layers leaving the bottom layer flat.
- Open the layers up to reveal the brad.
- Thread twine through a button and secure it to the brad using a foam dot.
- Arrange the layers and voila you're done. Gorgeous!
For the inside of the card I printed a blank library card created by Heather Nichols found at http://pinefeather.typepad.com/files/librarycardhn1209.pdf. Embellished it with Doodlebug, red Simply Sweet rub on letters, a pure poppy scallop, and a kraft circle stamped in pure poppy with a heart.
Cardstock: Kraft, Pure Poppy, White, Simple Valentine (Papertrey Ink)
Stamps: Heart Prints
Ink: Pure Poppy (Papertrey Ink)
Other: Mini Bingo Card (Jenni Bowlin), red button, twine
Hope you enjoyed.
Stay tuned for more Valentine inspiratioin.
