colourQ challenge #140

The house is back to normal (well our normal) after our 5 billets from Wales last week returned home.  I will say that it was not near as chaotic as you might think, a delightful group of kids with manners that would make their mother's proud.  After their departure we kicked the gardening into high gear, I think I am a very good foreman directing my husband where he needed to plant and transplant.  LOL

This week's colourQ colours are really gorgeous.  I see myself using this colour scheme again and again.  I don't have any Stampin' Up colours but I find that my PTI colours are usually a close match.   I used Ocean Tides and Hawaiian Shores instead of Island Indigo and Tempting Tourquoise.   At first I wasn't sure how these two blues could work together but they actually blended quite well.  I made a wedding card to get ahead for this years round of weddings.

I started with a card base of Hawaiian Shores which I matted with a patterned paper from PTI's Beautiful Blooms.  This paper pack features the colours Hawaiian Shores, Pure Poppy and Simply Chartreuse.  My centre white panel was embossed using PTI Simply Stripes Impression Plate.  I matted a quote stamped in Ocean Tides from Love & Marriage with Pure Poppy and created a felt blossom using Ocean Tides felt accented with leaves from Sending You in Simply Chartreuse.  Hope everyone is having a fantastic weekend.

RS #5 & Exciting News

This weeks Retro Sketch challenge introduces new design team member Laurie Wilson.  Laurie is the host for this week's sketch.

My exciting news is that Arielle Gordon contacted me last week and asked if she could use one of my cards for a RetroSketch and if I would like to be the Guest DT for that week!  I was over the moon excited about this.  This won't happen until the summertime, but I will keep you posted.

I have so much patterned paper in my studio and yet I am always hesitant to use it.  This week I broke into my Echo Park Springtime 6" x 6" pad and had a blast.  Here is my card for this weeks sketch, hope you enjoy it.
