DD#23

This weeks Dynamic Duos colours are Tangerine Tangelo & Old Olive.  I immediately thought of pumpkins and created my pumpkin thank you card.  I thought it would be a nice card to send to my sister-in-law who hosted our Thanksgiving dinner last weekend.  I chose Papertrey Simply Chartreuse & Orange Zest for my colours and had a chance to use some of the Orange Zest gingham patterned paper plus some Copic colouring.  I also used the Linen & Canvas Impression Plate on the white panel, it does not photograph well.  I think too much light.

All Supplies are from Papertrey Ink unless otherwise noted:

Cardstock:  Simply Chartreuse
Patterned paper: Orange Zest Patterned Paper Pack
Stamps: Friendship Jars Fall Fillers, Think Big Favourites #19
Ink:  Simply Chartreuse (PTI), Memento Tuxedo Black (Tsukineko)
Tools: Linen & Canvas Impression Plate
other: Copic markers (YR12, YR15, YR18 YG23, YG24, YG95)

Happy Canadian Thanksgiving!

Just heading out for the weekend, I have a few Thanksgiving cards I didn't have time to photograph but I will share next week!  I am heading up the the cottage for the Canadian Thanksgiving weekend.  It is absolutely my favourite weekend of the whole year to be up at the lake.  The trees are typically spectacular, I will take lots of photos and I will share next week as well.  Our Thanksgiving is always on a Sunday and it is a long weekend.

This is a photo of the burning bush outside the front of my house.  Last week it was completely green.  By next week it will all be a flaming red.  The Dahlias underneath it are still blooming, I love the confusion of fall!

Happy Canadian Thanksgiving to all my Canadian friends and International Friends!
For those of you participating in National Cardmaking Day--enjoy!

This is the first time that I have created a card for a challenge at The Play Date Cafe.  When I saw the colour inspiration for this week my heart skipped a beat--isn't it gorgeous?  It is Thanksgiving this weekend in Canada and I still have a few cards to finish up so the two combined made for play time.

Thanksgiving

I had this card to show you for Canadian Thansgiving which was on October 10.  Thansgiving in Canada sneaks up on us every year.  We are still winding down from summer (if you can ever do that) and then it's here.  This year in particular we had incredible weather wearing shorts and Tshirts, a beautiful Indian Summer weekend.  Cool mornings and hot days.  Although it came and went I still wanted to share this card with you.

All Supplies are from Papertrey Ink unless otherwise noted:

Cardstock: Kraft, Vintage Cream, Terra Cotta
Patterened Cardstock:  unknown
Clear Stamps: Friendship Jar Fall FillersDies: Jar & Lid, Little Labels
Ink: Chocolate Brown, Smoky Shadow
Other:  brown twine, foam dots, assorted Copics

We were at the cottage for Thanksgiving.  Our turkey was cooked on the BBQ (So juicy and delicious--highly recommended), stuffing, potatoes, sweet potato, lots of veggies and Pumpkin pie and pumpkin loaf for dessert.  I am including the receipe for my mom's pumpkin loaf.  The recipe makes two loaves that are delish!

PUMPKIN LOAF

3 cups sugar
1 cup vegetable or canola oil
4 eggs
3 1/3 cups flour
1 tsp cinnamon
1 ½ tsp nutmeg
2 tsp baking soda (dissolved in ½ cup water)
2 1/3 cups chopped walnuts  (optional)
2 cups pure pumpkin (not pie filling)

Combine sugar and oil in large bowl.  Add eggs and beat until well blended.  Combine flour and spices in another bowl.  Add to egg mixture alternatively with soda/water mixture.  Mix well.  Add pumpkin and walnuts.  Mix and pour into 2 greased and floured loaf pans or use cooking spray.
Bake 350 degrees for 1 hour.
