colourQ #149

Time for another colourQ challenge.  Arielle has created another incredible colour palette along with an inspiration photo to help you get started.

For my card this week I had a need to create a sympathy card for my mom to send to the family of an old friend who passed away last week.  It is very hard for our parents when they get older and see so many of their friends pass on.  I chose PTI Enchanted Evening patterned paper as the background on my focal panel.  Pretty Peonies was used to created my layered flower.  I think that this past spring and summer this has been the set I have gone to most often.

We can't wait to see what you are going to create with this fabulous colourQ inspiration.
I hope that you will join us this week at the colourQ.  See you there!

All Supplies are from Papertrey Ink unless otherwise noted:

Cardstock: White, Spring Moss, Harvest Gold
Patterned paper:  Enchanted Evening Paper Pack
Stamps: Pretty Peonies, Sending You
Ink:  New Leaf, Harvest Gold, True Black
Dies: Pretty Peonies, Banner Borders

This weeks Make It Monday video at Papertrey Ink was done by Dawn McVey.  Dawn has a way to make crafting look so easy.  I created three cards for this weeks challenge.  One is super simple, one stepped up a little and one is stepped up a lot.  I created this card HERE back in April using the same technique and dies for colourQ #134 and then this week I stepped it up a lot.

colourQ challenge #138

I am finally able to post my card for this weeks colourQ challenge.  A lot of thought went into this card that I am sending to my sister-in-law today.  Five years ago yesterday, my brother died of terminal cancer.  He was only 50 years old, amazing husband, son, brother and father to four children.  I wanted to send my sister-in-law a card to let her know that she is not alone.  The colours this week were so easy to work with.

All Supplies are from Papertrey Ink unless otherwise noted:

Cardstock: Kraft, White, Aqua Mist Paper Pack
Stamps: Tea for Two Additions, Beautiful Butterflies, Flower Fusion #7
Ink: Kraft, Pure Poppy, Harvest Gold, Aqua Mist
Dies: Tea Cup, Tag Sale #5

colourQ challenge #134

Yet another beautiful colourQ palette this week.  It has been a busy weekend between rugby, lacrosse, groceries, laundry and an evening with friends here we are at Sunday.  I can't seem to let the Mehndi Medallion get too far away and it was the start of my focal point stamped in Canyon Clay on Vintage Cream cardstock.  Dies and stamps from Sending You were stamped using Berry Sorbet ink and then assembled with foam dots to make a flower.  Topped off with small flower from Flower Fusion #3 stamped in Scarlet Jewel.  The whole piece was attached to a top fold Aqua Mist base.   I was actually quite please with the way it turned out.  Enjoy the rest of your Sunday.

All Supplies are from Papertrey Ink unless otherwise noted:

Stamps: Mehndi Medallion, Sending You, Flower Fusion #2. Think Big Favorites #3
Ink:  Canyon Clay, Berry Sorbet, Scarlet Jewel , Tuxedo Black Memento (Tsukineko)

Papertrey Blog Hop - January 25

Its time again for another Papertrey Ink blog hop.  Wow this month has gone fast.  The challenge this month was to pick our favourite project from 2011 and share it as well as to take inspiration from that project and create something new.

I went through my cards and posts and reflected on the past year and pulled two cards that I created for the Papertrey Blog Hop on May 25 2011.  See the original post HERE.  I decided to put a Valentines spin on my new cards--I love pink.

The next two cards are my original cards from the May Blog Hop.

I chose Sweet Blush, Raspberry Fizz and Hibiscus Burst from Papertrey for my colour palette.  Each layer is bumped up with foam dots--loving these lately.

When I was making this next card I had the flower with the Hibiscus Burst Flowers on the left (outside) of the card.  It didn't look quite right and I started thinking that I had the colours wrong--Raspberry Fizz and Hibiscus Burst are very close.  My 17 year old son is a very good artist and has a very keen eye for design.  He was walking by and I asked him to look at my card and discussed that maybe the colours weren't right.  He looked and was very quiet, then swapped the Hibiscus Burst and Raspberry Fizz flowers and then it just looked right!  He said now it had radial perspective.  Off he went, love that kid.

All Supplies are from Papertrey Ink unless otherwise noted:

Cardstock: White, Sweet Blush, Raspberry Fizz, Hibiscus Burst
Stamps:  Sending You, Love & Marriage, Flower Fusion #6
Dies: Beautiful Blooms II #1, Heart Prints
Ink: Raspberry Fizz, Spring Moss, Tuxedo Black (Memento)
other: foam dots

I can't forget what my daughter completed for geography Monday night.  We are at the end of semester 1 and heading into exams.  So stress levels are high, especially for her as this is her first run at exams.  So her ISU was to create a trip across Canada.  We have done this trip over two trips so she had a lot of personal input. A job well done.
